He posted this on his Facebook page now... We are pleased to announce the launch of the Federal Government’s Job Creation Initiative. Are you unemployed? Do you wish to learn skills? N-Power is a job creation and empowerment initiative of the Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. N-Power is designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop life-long skills to become solution providers in their communities and to become players in the domestic and global markets. Why N-Power? Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development. Despite the current high level of unemployment, harnessing Nigeria’s young demography through appropriate skill development efforts provides an opportunity to achieve inclusion and productivity within the country. Large-scale skill development is the main policy thrust of the N-Power Programme. N-Power addresses the challenge of youth unemployment by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy. The modular programmes under N-Power will ensure that each participant will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work. The N-Power Teacher Corps involves a massive deployment of 500,000 trained graduates who will assist to improve the inadequacies in our public services in education, health and civic education. Some of these graduates will also help in actualising Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations of achieving food security and self-sufficiency. N-Power is also preparing young Nigerians for a knowledge economy where, equipped with world-class skills and certification, they become innovators and movers in the domestic and global markets. Nigeria will have a pool of software developers, hardware service professionals, animators, graphic artists, building services professionals, artisans and others. N-Power also focuses on providing our non-graduates with relevant technical and business skills that enhance their work outlook and livelihood. In sum, N-Power is segmented as follows: N-Power Teachers Corps- 500,000 graduates N-Power Knowledge – 25,000 non-graduates N-Power Build- 75,000 non-graduates Who can apply? The N-Power programme is for all eligible Nigerians looking to work gainfully. However, the initial programmes have been designed for young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35. Log on to www.npower.gov.ng Note You won't be able to access the site today. It is because, registration commences June 11th.

Removal of subsidy on PMS by Federal government simply implies that market forces will now determines price of the commodity (Eco 101). Also, the #145 price is just a price control mechanism. NNPC mega stations and other major marketers will still sell below the price, while independent marketers can sell at any amount but not above #145. Since marketers are now free to source for forex by any means to bringing in the product without hindrance, it means the product will soon flood the market and competition will force the price to drop down. Watch out for this, before the end of the years, it will be so for as low as 120 naira per litre. Let us patronise NNPC stations and co This is the result of total deregulation we all asked for. Also, the benefits include Solving the recurrent fuel scarcity crisis by ensuring availability of products at all locations of the country Reducing hoarding, smuggling and diversion substantially and stabilise price at the actual product price Ensuring market stability and Improves fuel supply situation through private sector participation Even with the new price regime, Nigeria would remain one of the cheapest fuel markets in Africa and this could even be lower once competition takes effect. Likelihood of smuggling to Neighboring countries will also be significantly reduced with the new price regime. Aside all d above, subsidy is like negative tax. FG has spent over 10 trillion naira on subsidy payment over the past few year. This money could be used for other developmental projects. The most funny part is that, the payment of subsidy on PMS only benefit the rich far more than the poor... |
