AfricanApple: u knw most often pple do behave according 2 wat their culture teaches dem, say for instance, d yorubas and d way they greet pple including strangers. so u see if u see a psn who greets all d time and very well, ur first guess wl dat d psn is yoruba. if i tell u my best food is amala and ewedu, ur first guess will be dat i'm yoruba so our culture defines where we orignate from

non africans especially d whites may do festivities and other cultures, but their culture does not tally with ours in d least. for xample, here in nigeria, despite dat our culture
we still have some little little tinz in common like food, abominations etc
but whites ways of life dont ever coincide with any african culture

pickabeau1: Thank you...i agree with the first
However I would like to know what you mean as culture as origin.

Secondly do you think African culture itself is common and monolithic

The question you did not answer
You said there is nothing common with the white man..was what is there is not common in african and non cultures

Are u saying they don't have language. Festivals. Way of greetings, value system etc

Explain..
u knw most often pple do behave according 2 wat their culture teaches dem, say for instance, d yorubas and d way they greet pple including strangers. so u see if u see a psn who greets all d time and very well, ur first guess wl dat d psn is yoruba. if i tell u my best food is amala and ewedu, ur first guess will be dat i'm yoruba so our culture defines where we orignate from

pickabeau1: i will respond to you if you can answer three questions

- Define culture to you
- What is african culture
- What is uncommon about african culture

Then we can have a discussion
culture is a way of life, d way we live; d way we eat dress greet, d clothes we were and d food we eat. our customs and our believes
our culture is our origin and our origin is our identity

African culture is d culture dat belong to d people of africa

i dnt really understand d last question. do u mean what we dnt have in common as africans or wat is unusual abt african culture in general

pickabeau1: And that is the issue: inherent in your thinking.. you assume that african culture is monolithic.. heck all cultures have been influenced by other cultures are at one point or the other
As u told me earlier once... Fulanis influenced the Hausa and were also influenced in turn
Do you remember

Yes..non africans have a lot in common as they have common roots: Greek culture, Roman etc
wat i mean is non african do not have anytin in common with we africans
they dnt ever ever appreciate our culture, they call it babaric and all dat but painfully we africans embrace and worship theirs with joy

FamilyRe: Mother Admits She Killed Her Three Disabled Children by AfricanApple(f): 4:47pm On Jul 09, 2014
EnlightenedSoul: This really hits hard because I used to work with disabled children. At the time, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to to in the healthcare field and it was one of my first big ideas. It was so emotionally, physically and mentally draining to the point that I eventually had to quit. If you think it challenging to raise a healthy child, then it's 50x more challenging to raise 1 disabled child, talk less of 3.

I don't believe she didn't love them. I believe she became overwhelmed & overstepped her threshold, possibly lost her grip on sanity. There are preventative measures she could've taken, but that's in the past. She should've sought help. How sad.

CultureRe: Do African People Even Care About Tradition, Culture, Language And Heritage Stil by AfricanApple(f): 4:32pm On Jul 09, 2014
pickabeau1: Your question is flawed

Culture is dynamic

Define african culture.. before you can say not having one type of culture stems from inferiority complex

This way, while i get your thrust, you steer clear of needless controversies and focus on logic

Every person has an identity.. it just may not suit your fancy
but no matter how diverse african culture is, we always have one or two tinz in common but is it so with non-africans?
CultureRe: Do African People Even Care About Tradition, Culture, Language And Heritage Stil by AfricanApple(f): 4:28pm On Jul 09, 2014
yes
some still do, u need to go to traditional gatherings to see how pple still appreciate their culture
but most often, u will see where pple appreciate their culture and still cant help dying for the white man's. pathetic
