halle's just cute and dresses more elegant. beyonce' gorgeous with a beautiful body. |
no au natural guys on NL!!! |
oyinda, i didn't say HM pple were lonely and isolated. some1 else said this and i just commented on it. quote from banom: « #32 on: September 08, 2009, 06:48 PM »HM is not just about wearing expensive clothes. i think u can be HM and still wear cheap clothes. it's about your daily, weekly, monthly beauty routine. how LONG does it take u to get dressed every morning? 1 hr or 4 hrs? how often do you look at urself in a mirror? how often do you get a chemical peel? HM is about your habits, your beauty regimen. lots of girl wear expensive clothes, but aren't HM. you have 2 young ladies. in 1 week, u see ashley in beautiful expensive clothes. she wears cornrows throughout the whole week and costly french manicure. she carries the same $300 purse most of the time. u see laura. every day of the week, laura has a new weave. she changes her nails evry 2 days. after every class, she's in the restroom looking at her face in the mirror for 15 min,. whenever she's in a car, she's looking adjusting her hair and makeup. ashley has expensive taste. laura is HM. |

^^ honestly, none of us REALLY know if bey is HM. she looks great, but looking great doesn't mean your HM. we don't know her habits. we just speculate that she is HM. u have to KNOW some1 to know if they're HM. being a celebrity doesn't automatically mean your high maintenance. i was responding to a comment some1 made about some HM people actually being lonely, isolated pple. but that's another topic. and yes, HM means obsessed, excessive, going toooo far |
so u feel okay with bearing ur true life like this? are there other guys like u? ![]() |
oooohhhhhhhh, i'm gonna buy this on amazon asap! |
if you wanna reduce ur pores, USE ORGANIC ALOE VERA GEL if cools ur skin. it's soo soothing. my skin loves this stuff. it just drinks it up. |
@ mccloud, i didn't say beyonce was laid back. i said she leads a quiet life-style outside of the glamour. in pics when she's on vacation, u always see her with her cousin, sis, or mom. u don't hear about her getting filthy drunk @ parties, strung on on drugs in hotel rooms, involved in hit n run accidents, or driving nude like u hear about those crazy white girl celebs. i have no idea if bey is HM becuz i don't personally know her. there are some celebs who look good, wear expensive clothes and are still low maintenance. meaning, they aren't obsessed. u can't really know if some1 is HM by just looking @ them. u have to get to know them, learn about their habits. |
@basildon1, ok what examples would u use? yeah, i know shemar moore is the hearthrob of nearly every black female. but he doesn't do it for me, at alllllllllll. boris poses with lip gloss? not surprising. |
^^^ hmmmm, doesn't catch my eye. i prefer folks who look good without the excessive effort. shemar moore, boris kodjoe types? ewwwwwwww. but that's just me. i've always been a minimalist. less is more. |
how's your hair now? |
i don't think people are born gay. but if science proves that this is possible, then i think it's a genetic defect. something is wrong. i don't mean to sound, backwards, but that's just it. |
this site needs a classified ads section |
@naijarific what did you do? LOL!!! |
hey, go for it. as look as it doesn't become arrogance. i'm very thoughtful with the fashions i wear to present myself. your outward appearance is what pple see first, right? |
i guess i'll start. my hair has been natural for 15 years. it's pretty long. i got sisterlocks last year. if you don't know what sisterlocks are, go to www.sisterlocks.com or http://sisterlocks.com/Photo_Gallery/Photo_Gallery_new.html on my skin i use: african black soap, tea tree oil, and shea butter. fragrances: lemon oil, lavendar oil. i do buy perfumes from estee lauder. i LOVEEEEEEE to smell good i eat organic food as much as possible. mostly fruits and veggies and whole grains. lots of water. no soda or fast food. why i do this? i'm sick of living with toxins and pollution. so, since i can't control all the external influences, i try to do my part to help my body. ![]() |
yeah, yeah so, if you're au natural, join this thread! by au natural i mean, you eat organic foods, your hair is natural, you limit the use of synthetic chemicals in your daily life, etc. you use natural products as much as possible like shea butter, coco butter oil, whatever. why did you go 'au natural'? how do you try to live au natural? what products do you use? guys and ladies welcome!!!!! i'm eager to read ya'lls comments ![]() |
@shesi, fashionista is different from high maintenance. a fashionista can find an inexpensive vintage outfit at a thrift store. fashionistas like fashion. high maintainence implies an EXCESSIVE attention to one's outward appearance. (regardless if he/she is doing this for themselves or for others) i didn't imply that such folks have questionable morals. @topup, props to you! but i think you're definitely a minority. @george D, ![]() @yjay, good answer so, does ANYONE find india.aire attractive/desirable?? remember, this is the gal that sang,"sometimes i shave my legs, sometimes i don't. sometimes i comb my hair, sometimes i won't. depend on how the wind blows i might even paint my toes" and "am i less of a lady if i don't wear pantyhose?" |
^^ ![]() you can stop playing silly games like playing "hard to get" |
^^ i second that. you won't find me sitting in a hair salon every single weekend. but my hair still always looks nice. |
^^ but are they, these high class divas, more attractive than more simple types? i thought people go for simplicity. the less is more thing, you know. |
naomi campbell can rock a potato sack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she is so pretty |
quote by Banom: « #32 on: Today at 06:48:56 PM »that's a new way to look at it. look at genevieve nnaji. even beyonce leads a very quiet life outside of all the glamor. |
quote by spikedcylinder: « #36 on: Today at 06:57:50 PM »so if a lady isn't holding a $300 purse, rocking a lace front, getting her nails done every week, then she's a plain Jane? are all men really looking for High Class DIVAS?? maybe, i'm naive, but i hope not! what happened to simplicity? |
quote from Davidylan: oh, well. |
ewwwwww, i don't like braided hair on guys. i could go for a guy with locks though! |
i know a LOT of high maintenance ladies and gals. ladies who get their nails done twice a week. their hair done every week. guys who can't go 2 hours without spraying moisturizer on their hair. who always have to wear the latest sneakers. i went to a university that is known all around the state for its flashy, over-dressed female students. i always wondered if its worth it: wearing stilettos to lectures everyday, changing your weave every 2 days. do high maintainence folks get more dates over those who are more, shall i say simple? are they more attractive? me, i can't stand high-maintainence, "metro-sexual" guys who look in the mirror more than i do. what do ya'll think? ![]() |
i've always been fascinated by the personas of good writers. they all seem to share similarities. so what do you think makes one a good writer? what are some key traits? i'll start: #1 A good writer must be observant. they must watch more than they speak. that's not to say that only quiet people make good writers. but all good writers are keen observers. next?? ![]() |

not surprising.
