gamine, my younger sister HATESSSSSSSSSS locks but thinks she can deal with SLs. she's thinking about growing SLs (she's a permie) and taking them out after they grow long, so she can can go back to perming it. yeah, i know, she's funny.

FashionRe: All About The Au Natural! by africhika(op): 6:59pm On Sep 22, 2009
yes! lots of ladies have unlocked their sls. they just keep conditioning it for days until the locks unravel. you really don't HAVE to cut off anything. but, i may do that if i get bored with SLs. right now, it's my best hair decision ever. my texture is really soft with baby curls at the end. yeah, gamine i think we do have similar tresses.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ARE NO GUYS ON THIS THREAD! NO NATURAL GUYS ON NL AT ALL!! what a bummer   tongue

omonaija, we are the exact same size, 5'4 120lbs.

d-baby, don't worry about being petite. your small size will make you look even better with short hair! go for it

omonija, be sure to GO EASY ON THE TEA TREA OIL!!!

i love it but can definitely dry out ur skin. use very little and not too often. maybe like 3 times a week. it's a very potent oil.

FashionRe: Africa Needs A Miss Africa Beauty Pageant by africhika(f): 4:45pm On Sep 15, 2009
quote by lipuka:
« on: January 25, 2009, 04:50 PM »

African girls are at a disadvantage since they do not have the resources to undergo these surgeries. And of course, some of the bumps they have may look beautiful to African people, but are not wanted in these beauty pageants.
huh clarification.

quote by lipuka:
The while girls go to the extent of having operations to change their features or appearance. This is common in India, Venezuela, China, Japan and Korea, among others. The girls undergo operations to straighten the nose, remove a bump here and there, change the eyes as the Chinese do, so as to look more Western and so on.
great idea. i've heard this idea from several people now. tanzania and ivory coast has something like this. a continental effort would be beautiful.
ivory coast did one for women who don't bleach, Miss Authentica: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8148719.stm

Ain't Go No/ I Got Life by Nina Simone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_P9JTFnIxY&feature=related

I ain't got no home, ain't got no shoes
Ain't got no money, Ain't got no class
Ain't got no skirts, Ain't got no sweater
Ain't got no perfume Ain't got no bed
Ain't got no mind,

Ain't got no mother Ain't got no culture
Ain't got no friends, aint got no schoolin'
Ain't got no love, Ain't got no name
Ain't got no ticket, Ain't got no token
Ain't got no god

and what have i got?
why am i alive anyway?
yeah what have i got?
nobody can take away?,

Got my hair. Got my head
Got my brains, Got my ears
Got my eyes, Got my nose
Got my mouth, I got my smile

I got my tongue, Got my chin
Got my neck, Got my boobies
Got my heart, Got my soul
Got my back, I got my sex

I got my arms, got my hands, got my fingers,
got my legs, got my feet, got my toes,
got my liver, got my blood,

I've got life,
i've got my freedom
i've got life
I've got life
and I am gonna keep it
I've got life
and nobody's gonna take it away
I've got life!

FashionRe: If You Think Fake Hair Makes You Look Beautiful It Doesnt! by africhika(f): 12:32pm On Sep 14, 2009
society society society. white women wear weave sure but the weave looks like their natural hair.

@tsiya, i agree 100% it's tooooo much.
whenever i went to an event/party whatever at my university, the 9ja ladies had mountains of weave. it didn't suit them well at allllll. the AA girls also had weave but it wasn't so ridiculous. and most of the AA girls had wore their OWN permed hair. they just let it hang. it's not too common to find 9ja girls @ american universities with their own hair (permed, natural, etc.)

Obviously Tyra.

Who in their right mind would pick a dark skinned girl over a light skinned one? Are you kidding me,
i hope this ^^^ is sarcasm.

tyra is ok w/out makeup. tyra is just pretty.  not crazy about her big hair either.

naomi is a natural beauty. look @ her bone structure. she is BEAUUUUUTTTTTTTIFULLLLLLLLLL. my vote: naomi, naomi, naomi. she's so stunning and chic. but of cos, her attitude sucks!
