It's like Dewale Dosumu or Akinbola or any yoruba person by name saying that Ibadan is not a yoruba town, people will think he is insane. I'd have engaged you if you made sense. |

can you discuss with the people in your Ijaw language? Do you eat the same food? Do you share the same customs and values? Work on that and we might have a discussion. Till then bask in your folklore I thought you would engage me intellectually, however I'm disappointed by the appendage. BKayy: Leave those nincompoops. They think we don't know what is/really happening/happened. Their madness of claiming Ndigbo and their land after the fall of Biafra has come to an end. As for those that have been conquered and agreed to stay with them, we dash them and won't bother them about that. People like Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Omuma and Ika have been dashed to the Bini. As for Igala, those they are after can never be theirs because they haven't been conquered like those listed. That is places like Asaba, Enugu Ezike etc. As for Ijaw they can manage Ubani if the indigenes still agree to but as for Opobo and Ndoki, we will die there. That one is too late Let them continue fooling themselves, we all know the story. All the emergency history that was written post 1970 and Nigeria rushed to fan is VOID. You can't tell me that someone that denounce you, doesn't share linguistic, cultural and even phenotype with you is your people against there will and you expect us that are related to the person to keep quiet because you will call us attache by force? Why would someone leave the name of his tribe to calling himself 'South South'? Where is North North? You're a fool! Biggest one! Ghana is name of a tribe? Is Angola, Algeria, Canada, names of Tribes? Niger Delta is the name. It is not suppose to make meaning to you. You are not part of us. |
Politics › Re: Are The "Minority" Tribes Of The Niger Delta Safe In Ipob's "Biafra'?? by Afriifa(m): 6:32pm On May 06, 2021 |
Cmanforall: Those are called Geopolitical zones for a reason. This creation has made , for example, an Ikwere man to see an Igbo man more of an enemy because the latter does not belong to South-South, despite both being neighbours. Because of the 'South-South' created by some people in power (and not the forefathers of the different ethnic groups) to probably create discord with the Igbos; thus, Binni man is considered more as a brother to same Ikwere man just because they are in the virtual entrapment of the so called Geopolitical zone. Should Nigeria divide with NigerDelta having their country, from the look of things the emerging country will be as present Nigeria. There will be much power tussle and the unification in language will pose a challenge. In developed countries, for example Germany, there are regions that still have their dialects different from Deutsch. For example, the Bavaria core indigenes speak differently, but that doesn't take away German as their official language. What will be the official language for the South-South? However, if Nigerians division will bring peace without bloodshed, then so be it, irrespective of the number of pieces it splits. What's the Official Language of Nigeria? Ghana, Gambia and Even your South East? |

Eastlink: Ijaw owned port my foot. In Alagoa’s expansionist book I guess. I asked you to show us Kenneth’s Dike’s Ijaw lecturer and you couldn’t defend your claims.
You are now making another spurious claim to the ownership of Bonny and Nembe as Ijaw ports. Please can you show us any historical document from 1700 to 1950 where these afformentioned areas where called Ijaw port? Bonny for one had their own distinct identity which was globally recognized. Bonny were known as Bonny, Obani or Okoloma. Nembe was known as Brass or Nembe despite the mass encroachment by Ijaw migrants. The European recoreded the Ijaws and never mixed both. And there was never a time Bonny and Nembe were know as Ijaws until the coming of Ijaw landgrabbers from Delta/Bayelsa.
The only thing we knew about Ijaws in Bonny were that they came as slaves and canoe workers. And as time went on populated Bonny with their hungry population from Bayelsa/Delta who needed other staple food other than fish for survival. Will your ranting ever change facts? |
Culture › Re: Oba Of Ogbaland Nnam Chukwumela Dies At 80 by Afriifa(m): 6:35am On May 01, 2021 |
Ekealterego: Understand that IYC is like Arewa (not everyone in Arewa is Hausa or Fulani as there are many other distinct minorities under the umbrella). It is more of a conglomerate of ethnic groups living in close proximity and Ijaw seem to be the largest or most politically active... Engenni language is not even in any shape or form related to Ijaw... not even in basic words... They are more like Edoid language.. If you go to Mbiama, there are a lot of intermarriages with people from Edo state, they believe (and rightly so) that their ancestors are from Edo state.. To make things even worse, 90% of them speak Igbo as a second language (the older ones 100%) and you can hardly find anyone speaking Ijaw, except one of the parents are actually Ijaw. I just discovered that you are in for an argument. They don't speak Igbo. They are somewhat Edoid, which is true, in Niger Delta most of us had settled in Edo before moving to our present area. It does not make us Edo. we're inter-related. look at Bonny for instance.. Will they tell you that they are not Ijaws? |
Culture › Re: Oba Of Ogbaland Nnam Chukwumela Dies At 80 by Afriifa(m): 6:30am On May 01, 2021 |
Ekealterego: Oniso! That is not entirely true.. Mbiama for example, is just by the border with Bayelsa.. I know these people like the back of my hand... Engenni people are a small tiny tribe with not so many communities.... In Ahaoda West, they share with Ekpeye, and in Yenegoa, they share with the closely related Epie.. Everyone knows everyone... Some might identify with Ijaws because there are many intermarriages with Ijaws, but they are also a lot of intermarriage with Igbos and people from Edo state... An average person from Jankrama, Mbiama, for example, speaks impeccable Igbo as a second language, and from my survey, almost none of them speak or even understand Ijaw. Yeah, many from the Riverine side may share that riverine culture, but most are into agriculture. And they refer to Ijaw people as Ijaw people and do not include themselves as being Ijaws... They clearly refer to Ijaw people as a different subset of people. Good morning and Happy New Month. My best wishes for you and your entire household. Now, back to base. I don't want to argue that. As an Ijaw kid from Delta state, I have had the privilege to withness the presence of my kins in Mbiama to some relative extent. I can never call them non-ijaws, because their case is very similar with the African slaves in America. even if they don't understand one African language or culture. They are still Africans. |
Culture › Re: Oba Of Ogbaland Nnam Chukwumela Dies At 80 by Afriifa(m): 8:56pm On Apr 30, 2021 |
Ekealterego: I have Engenni inlaws.. Stop parroting nonsense... Engenni people are more related to Edo people than Ijaw. Their language is like Urhobo.. They are not Ijaws.. No real Engenni man will tell you they are Ijaws.. Their language is not anywhere close to Ijaws. What you have said here cannot be rebuffed entirely. I want to say you are somewhat correct. But they still identify with Ijaws because they are Ijaws, however, due to the proximity, I would say, that clan or sub-group (Egenni) of Ijaws were greatly influenced by other brothers (Edo) from Niger Delta. There could ave been historical affliations that were not documented presently. The bottom line is, they're Ijaws, but were culturally influenced by our Edoid brothers to some extent. |
