ChristineC: I think defensively and in midfield we'll be fine in the short term. shape is good, combination play will get better as players understand their positional orders better and the coach understands the strengths of the individuals. offensively is where worries me a bit. like I submitted a while back, if our CF especially cannot pin the ball and buy time for others to arrive around him it's going to be really difficult creating through the middle. Amad on at RAM should do going forward. he's about the only guy that can go past his man in our team these days - the other being Mazraoui, which really highlights how lazy the players got. the propensity to be static and take the "easiest" action among our squad players is something the coach needs to stamp out in the coming weeks.
You are right.
We don't have the wing backs for the system. We probably don't have the LAM for the system. If Rasmus does not click, we don't have the CF for the system.
Many of the players are not technically secure enough on the ball to be carrying out the kind of quick, incisive passing that Amorin was probably hoping for.
patrickmuf: I expect a much better performance against Everton with the return of Martinez, Yoro, Mainoo, Ugarte and Shaw.
I think Amorim is still trying to understand the players because I expected Amad to start as one off the 8s, Evans should have been the CCB and not LCB, she struggled to deal with Hutchison and his pace and quick feet.
Just seeing this.
100%.
He was deceived by Evan's ball-playing skills in training. The only position he can play without wrecking the set-up is CCB.
For Amad, yeah he should be one of the 2 players behind the striker.
ChristineC: the manager was more pissed by the lack of desire to move the ball forward especially in the second half. he had a go at Amad and one time at Mazroui. It's the right mentality and hopefully it can transcend. good reading of the game as well. Evans was very uncomfortable in the game, caused panic at the back and I had hoped his presence will be key in the fixture. the slow pivot we started with didn't help. I'd say early signs indicate he can get his ideas in quickly.
He does not know the players well enough. Evans is decent with his left foot, but he can never be a LCB because of his lack of mobility. He is a liability off the ball in wide space defending.
He and Casemiro combined to turn Omari Hutchinson into Arjen Robben regen.
If not for Shaw and Ugarte coming to stabilize us wahala for shele from that side in the 2nd half.
nitrogen: In my opinion, probably try to start with it and make some updates as the game progresses. 75% of our passes today were at the back because we found it difficult to make any transition to the middle and upfront. We were pinned to the back by IPS which is not even a mid table team. What will happen against mid table and top teams?
But yes, no matter what happens this season, I won’t care. As long as we don’t relegate and we see some progress in our play.
They have had 3 sessions training with this system. Most of them have never played it in their lives.
They will definitely struggle at the start. It will take games and more time on the training pitch for them to get better.
How soon and how well they master it will depend on his quality as a coach and also the quality of the players, but it was always going to take more than 1 week.
maik99: Na the people wey say dem ready to persist with Ten Hag if he continued losing I say make you come look, 45 minutes into the first game of a manager that took over in the middle of the season
Lol
Who dem be? I started reading posts from after the game, not posts made during the game.
I am not going to stress myself over a coach that had just 2-3 sessions to introduce a new formation to his players.
There is nothing long term that can be taken from this game. Ole and Moyes both had big wins in their first matches. ETH lost his first match. If we had won today, siddon look mode. If we had lost today, siddon look mode. We drew today, siddon look mode.
The usual reflex complainants of the thread can carry on.
Not just rhyming off beat, some of the rhymes are not even rhyming.
Kendrick is gaming the game. I think it’s the combination of funkadelic sounds and his supreme confidence in delivery that African-Americans like, and the rest of the world is just copying them.
The guy is just not that nice. Too many forced rhyme schemes. He delivers wack lines with supreme confidence though. I give him that.
Ibime: This is more damaging to Hundeyin than first appears because he has a clear Japa route to UK which is now blocked and enforceable the minute he lands in UK
His sister is in UK and schooled at Queen Mary University. I came across her those days. He may also have other siblings here.
TrebleChamp: If he does a Fergie by using majorly the academy players to achieve success (top 4 or a trophy) this season, he will automatically become a United legend 😁. He has to be tough with his player selection based on performance only...
Let's pipe low. Let him win a few games and get us playing football first before we start talking about legend status.
ChristineC: that's fair, but I was specifically looking at his ball carrying. at least for this season, I don't really expect the team to dominate a whole lot of the possession. using a classic example of Sporting Vs City, the guys with legs and a scoring ability will have their application especially when we can't be certain what our CFs will do going forward. what if they continue to shoot blanks? I'm putting Mount in this box of guys with legs as well, fitness permitting. the only proven high goal scorers in this team are Rashford and Bruno, with Garnacho as the obvious guy that may grab the numbers suddenly. of course, if I'm wrong and we average a higher percentage of the ball than I envisage then yeah all these would matter less.
Ball carrying in which position though?
There is no space in this system with a player of McTominay's profile. As narrow 10s Bruno, Amad, Rashford, Mount will be as prolific and will fit the system more. There is a minimum level of technical proficiency and comfort with the ball needed in those positions that many people are worrying that even Rashy and Garnacho don't have, not to talk of a donkey like McTominay.
Playing a donkey that did not suit the system like McTominay just because he bailed you out with a few goals here and there is one of the many sins of ten Hag.
Ellexy: This our u18 team sef. Dem no dey pity their opponents at all.
This is the best coaching performance i have seen from an Academy coach. Even those of us watching at home can hear most of his instructions play by play. The coaches them like he is playing PlayStation. The players press like they are possessed, and they are usually very careful with the ball. They also tend to make good decisions on the ball cos their coach is always shouting instructions.
It would be interesting to see how they will perform when they are not coached this intensely.
ChristineC: any takers? I'd have stuck my neck for McTominay having much higher goal contributions in this system.
Lol in which position. He is exactly the type of person that has no place in this system.
He can’t be the No 9. He can’t be one of the No 10s because that requires more technique in tight spaces based on those that have played it for Amorim before.
The system is built primarily to get the No 9 scoring loads of goals, not the other players. That is why Gyokeres has been so prolific. Other players might get goals in the flow of the game but the CF is the main beneficiary.
TrebleChamp: True, it is going to be a gradual process. If he stick to his style and principle, the players will have to fit in eventually. Those who are not suited will have to leave the club, as long as he doesn't give certain players (e.g Trashford) preferential treatment....
Based on the fact that some of our better players do not fit perfectly into this new system, there will be some surprise career resurrections and surprise career regressions. The ones that will get shipped out might not be the ones people expect.
P.S There might be a shock debut (or at least bench appearance) tomorrow. Stay tuned.
raumdeuter: I concede some of what you say. And when I hear about these extreme abuses it's usually towards househelps, apprentice, step children and families who come to live with uncle in the city
I find it hard to think that any parent will subject their own biological child to hot iron, candle, hot oil.
If there is any then they are really suffering from mental problems and don't deserve to have custody of children like those who kill their own kids
This is not hearsay but what i have seen several times. I worked in hospital emergency departments for years. Burns injuries, broken bones (plenty broken bones), head injury (including bleeding on the brain), inflicted by family members. Victims range from babies, toddlers, young kids, teenagers, to adults. Yes, some of them had mental health issues but others had no diagnosed or diagnosable mental health problem apart from being angry and violent people.
If a parent can sexually molest their own child, then why would you doubt that a parent will subject their child to physically violent behavior.
Your reality is not other people's reality. Where your parents' discipline or wickedness ends is where some other people's parents' wickedness starts.
Physical abuse and emotional abuse.. By the time you slice and dice it, almost every Nigerian kid Don collect from their parents before in one way or the other.
Most people here got whooped as kids and later in life we just moved on from it
There are levels to it. And there are also levels to what each individual can take. Beating your child as a form of corporal punishment might be physical abuse but some people burnt their children’s backs with hot iron, or poured hot water/oil on their children, or placed their children’s fingers over a candle flame, just because they wanted to find out who took the big meat in the pot.
Some people had fathers who came home drunk every day and beat them up like it was a boxing bout. Everyday. For 10-15 years. Panel beating your own child everyday like you are Hagler and he is Hearns.
It is more about the effect on the person. The abuser can’t legislate how much hurt the abused should feel. If someone has abused you to the point whereby the effects pervade every aspect of your life and you struggle to maintain healthy relationships or even maintain a good career you have a right to block them from your life.
Dayo there are levels of dysfunctional families that you might not have come across.
What will be a good enough reason to cut off a direct family like parent or siblings that you lived and grew together
By cut off I mean never talk to them for life again
Obviously not things like they tried to kill you
Physical abuse. Sexual abuse. Emotional abuse.
There are people who are not dead in body but are emotionally, psychologically, or spiritually dead based on the atrocities carried out against them by family members for years.
larride: One important thing i like from his presser is that its going to be his way from day one. It is the piayers that will have to adapt or get shipped out.
Yes. That was ETH’s major strategic mistake. Dancing from system to system in order accomodate players and achieve short term goals while wasting 2 solid years of potential team development.
I hope Amorin sticks to his plan cos if he bows to initial pressure he also will be shown the door before long.
nitrogen: Ruben, calm down o. Actions speak louder than words. Just do your thing and don’t let the press set you up.
It is a poisoned chalice.
If he decides to do "No comments" the press will turn against him early and run their agendas against him. He has to play nice a bit to get a soft landing with them.
The main problem is the inordinate attention the Man Utd job gets. Other managerial positions don't get scrutinized to this level. If you watch the interview, he didn't really say too much but because it has been repeatedly plastered everywhere it comes out different.
maik99: I saw a post earlier that he has stopped photos/videos of training from going out If true, he recognizes what he’s gotten into and is very wise to take steps to mitigate the situation Too much of United’s business is out there. Our lineup dey even leak like normal
I believe he did. There has been video silence since that first video went viral.
The guy quickly realised that this was a whole new level and shut down the cameras.
Roland17: A Naija policeman with gun na explosive wen fit detonate anytime. I’d take my chances with an Army personnel than a policeman carrying a gun.
There was a day a policeman in a crowded public place was overheard telling his colleague that he was itching to shoot his gun for any reason. His words were that to shoot the gun "was hungrying him". His colleague had to beg him to pipe low before he relented.
BlueRayDick: People like this woman came for the Lamba and nothing more . It is that Lamba that fuels their faith ; you will be surprised that she will share that same lamba with her friends & family with so much glee and excitement .
Naija pastorpreneurs don carry Yoruba demon ethos into their pastoral work. The most confident and stizz-filled lamba comes out of their mouths.
Theflint1: I don't think he would, but then why would they make a statement like that about an active public personality that would in his one of 100 tweets per day tweet one denial.
Well maybe na say I don too underestimate the level of lamba Naija preachers would throw, even for physical matters that can easily be verified.
Someone drove his car hundreds of km on an empty tank. Another person did intercontinental travel using just a wardrobe, like in a C.S Lewis story.
A multi-billionaire donating a measly 10m dollars to a church is a small lamba compared to what has been circulating.
