Let's just turn the corner to 10 years ago, pre-APC, e no far like that.
Even if we discount Naija's unique problems e go still hard. I don't know anywhere where things are improving economically. Even though it is nowhere near Naija's situation, in most Western countries na coded austerity measures most people dey do, including governments sef.

I know it is the not the popular opinion, but i just don't see how things will improve to the level of 10 years ago, in the foreseeable future. Nigeria's ota plenty pass our enemies.

Maybe because I neva japa sha, na why I still get hope and I want to imagine for many resident in the country, there's still that little hope that things turn the corner...after all barely 10 years ago things were not as bad, but today it's something else entirely.
Things cannot turn the corner. Maybe in 100 years' time sha.

[quote author=Oasis007 post=131930359]Koné is training with U21, glad he is settling down well.

, he seems to have gotten integrated quite well.

It would be interesting to see how well he plays for the Under-21s. I think apart from Collyer the only potential CDM option is Finley McAllister, and it seems Law of Diminishing Returns has started catching up with that one.

Until all business close down before prosperity come grin

While I was cutting my hair over the weekend, my barber narrated the discussion he had with one of his customers on Friday.

The man is keke rider, he got the keke on hire purchase. The actual cost of the keke is N3m but it was given to him on hire purchase for N4.2m. ( I was shocked that keke now sells for N3m shocked)

The man usually delivers weekly to the owner. Due to the hike in price of fuel the man has not been able to gather enough for his weekly deliver and on top of that, he was unfortunate that police men stopped him and towed the keke to Area command. Now he's looking for money to deliver to the owner as well as money to bail the keke parked inside police area command.

He said the man kept on hissing while he was cutting his hair and that was what prompted him to ask what exactly his problem is. If that man commits suicide out of frustration a lot of people won't know it is the economic hardship under this government that pushed him to the brink.

The guy is more likely to rob, kidnap, or kill for money ritual than kill himself.

Right now, the people are fighting one another but a time will come when they realize who their real enemies are. As a great philosopher once said, "One day go be one day".

Go back and watch our game against Brighton and Liverpool again. He is very similar to Wayne Rooney in the way he still manages to get back inside the box to get on the end of chances.

His play is deceptive, one monent he is occupying the AMF position and the next, he is getting on the end of crosses into the box.
It is even too early to judge his quality and his style of play. Let us see after he becomes fully fit and plays at least a month of premier league football.

Like Treblechamp rightly said , I’ve been following election cycles for a while now and I’ve not really seen Senatorial and HOR candidates do much campaign beyond posters and bill boards that has their face , their party’s governorship candidate and presidential candidate.

When the governorship and presidential candidates of their party comes to campaign in their senatorial district/constituency , they will ensure they wet the ground and arrange crowd whom they will speak to. The governorship and presidential candidates will raise their hand and that’s all.

The rest of their own campaign is about sharing money , souvenirs and sometimes fighting the rival party’s candidate on their campaign tour. I’ve seen this happen in different campaign cycle over time.

That’s why people of questionable character and intelligence always make it to the house of assembly and they really can’t come up with good laws that will move the country forward .
That is where many Nigerians are getting it wrong. Parliamentary elections are as important as elections into the executive. That is where many of the decisions that make or mar the fate of the common man are being signed and sealed.

Has Sékou Kone featured for the U18s yet? I’m going to keep an eye on him.

I think he’ll be fast tracked to the U21s and if he does not struggle there, might start training with the senior team and even get some minutes in a couple of dead rubber cup games.
I don’t think he can play for the Under-18s because of his age.
He has to be with the Under-21s, and that is good because with Collyer in the senior team and Oyedele gone they lack depth in the CDM position.

Until I see the boy play before I start estimating how quickly he will progress.

This time I’ll have to play Devil’s advocate and say this is a sketchy area

The same economic dynamic at play here is the same one that’s at play when you pay for express shipping on Jumia.

If you tell me to wait 5 days for an item and pay 1k or pay 3k and get it today, that means you already have the capability to deliver today but you request a premium to deliver that capability

From a capitalist perspective, he’s doing nothing wrong. He’s just negotiating a premium on a product in exchange for improved service delivery.

From a socialist perspective, he’s a prïck that will be guillotined once the revolution is underway

Sometimes i wonder if sticking to the straight lane in Naija is virtue or foolishness and i say this as someone who was a stickler for the straight lane
It is not sketchy at all.

When you are trying to buy stuff online from the comfort of your home, you have certain freedoms. Once you are out in public you lose some of those freedoms and you are bound by an implicit social contract in most cases, unless there are explicit exceptions.

This contract is in place in order to prevent a total breakdown of law and order. Imagine someone disregarding queues in the bank and just bribing the teller in order to be attended to first. Or the same thing happening at a supermarket, hospital, post office, mechanic workshop, restaurant, airport etc.

Now imagine EVERYBODY doing it as standard practice. Everyone just arrives and rushes to the front in order to bribe the person in charge of whatever service/product is being bought.

We have not even touched on the "showing workings" i.e. bribery of the manager, which is a different problem on its own, separate from the disregard for order.

There are many reasons why i say this country is irredeemably doomed. This is just one of them. People with this mindset will become governors, permanent secretaries, and ministers in the future.

There is no rule anywhere that states the first person that got to a petrol station must be the first to be attended to. When you get there and there is serious queue, just walk in and tell the salespeople to show you their manager. Meet the manager and converse with him or her. Then show workings, and the manager will direct the salespeople to attend to you ASAP. Anybody wey wan vex go vex. Na money businessmen dey find after all.

Even the corporates driving their private and official vehicle sef, most people didn’t go to proper driving school nor take driving tests.

I remember when I went for my drivers license grin.

I was jejely taking the theory aspect of the test on computer ; I was taking my time and trying to ensure I get the answers right. One of the VIO guys (Abi na VIS dem Dey bear now ); he just told me to stand up. I thought perhaps he was suspecting I was cheating or something .

Do u know what he did? He came to my seat, sat in my place and quickly rushed to complete the rest of the test within few minutes; he submitted and I passed . 🤣🤣🤣. Apparently the money I paid for the drivers license application included a special fee which requires that they ensure I pass. I don’t even know this until that point.

As for the practical driving test , they asked me to give one of the VIO guys in charge of the test I think 1k or 1,500. The money is for him to go and bring the car we will use for driving test . After 10 minutes of the guy not showing up, they just collected my document and ask me to proceed to road safety section for capturing . And that was the end .

Imagine if I actually hadn’t really learn how to drive ; that’s how I will hold a driver’s license yet I won’t know how to drive properly. I’m sure a lot of people will have similar experience too.
There are people who do not leave their homes and get the driver license.
