I think Falz is making some serious sense here.

The fact that there's no cap on the number of times a person can be elected into the house of assembly (unlike the presidential seat which has a cap of two terms) is definitely one of the reasons things might not be getting better anytime soon in this country.

A member of house of assembly who has spent 5 terms of 4 years each is definitely a greater problem than a president who just uses 8 years . Such house of assembly members will always insist on horse-trading to assent to bills, pass budgets, and make impactul legislations. I guess we need to take house of assembly elections more serious going forward sha
Not having term limits has not truncated Western countries. It is actually good to have a fair bit of experience in the house so that we won’t have people learning on the job all the time.

If their electorate does not like them they will vote them out. We should be focussing on free and fair elections and fighting corruption rather than term limits for reps.

Robert Byrd was a U.S senator for 51 yrs (from before Naija independence to Yar’Adua presidency) and there was no problem with the democracy.

Omo mehn I don't understand Fred, he's either 1/10 or 9/10. No in-betweens.

Nice subs from ETH and finally imagine Dejong and Casemiro as our pivot.

I have been saying this. Many emotional people here are angry he said no last summer. Casemiro, FDJ, Bruno will be very bloody.
We need to go back for him this coming summer. If he still says no then we can move to the next target. The guy's combo of pass and run progression is topnotch. The guy dey brush our players away like housefly.

Not sure there is much difference. We have been seeing phrases like heavy crusade. We have seen the same in this election cycle

I also do not know exactly what will happen if ekpa is tried. Politicians who have been feeding off the federal purse all thier career were falling over themselves to align with kanu, a separatist calling for a violent downfall of Nigeria.
Hmmm. We will see how things pan out.

Why I think religious extremism is more powerful is that it is based on faith which may or may not be in line with logic and common sense. Which means intelligent debate is often out of the question.

Then there is the promise of a happy life eternal which tribal extremism can’t match.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 4:27pm On Feb 23, 2023
Religious extremism is often more powerful than tribal extremism. If Ekpa and a few of his personnel are arrested, tried, and executed judicially there would be a positive impact on the SE.

At least that is my hope.

I think Fred/Sabitzer will exit for Sancho.
it's a home game and I suspect Ten Hag will look to get a goal or two advantage early enough in the game, then settle it by bringing more control to the midfield. if it goes to plan, we'd likely end the game in a 3-5-2.
Sancho at the 10 is what i would love to see if we are controlling a game. I am just not sure about his ability to press and hassle the Barca midfielders. It is going to require extra energy and discipline to stop Busquets and FDJ from seizing that midfield. Busquets for all his defensive frailties and his age is still a triangle master. It only takes a little laxity from us and they will be passing in triangles while we run in circles.

Having said all that, i trust ETH to be able to set us up in a winning line-up, and if things are not going great he can rejig it .

Shush it! There's no way to rationalise failure.

You have a victim complex and a feminine psyche. You never want to really take responsibility for your shortcomings but would rather try to emotionally blackmail anyone to see from your twisted point of view.

You are choosing Patrick as a soft target because you know he's less likely to go vituperative on you and he's an in-road to your craved redemption. Like a thief caught in a market who scans the faces of the apprehenders and picks on the one asking for explanation like, "Oga, see I was just saying let me test it when.." even when the Samsung phone he stole is still in his hand 300 meters from where he stole it.

Shush it and return to Hypocritesville from whence you emerged!

You even waited for 4 years, i washed my hands off APC and Buhari in 2016. Buhari first mistake was to blow away 6 vital months before sending names of Ministers to the senate and putting together an Economic Team, this foolish decision had mass negative effect on the Economy, pushing inflation and general cost of living higher. A bag of rice had was #7500 in January 2015, increased to around #25,000 by the end of 2016. His failing health also became a problem, leaving room for some Cabals to highjack the Govt for their selfish interest..
I never believed in him. There are people who practically stopped talking to me in 2015 when i told them that Buhari was going to fail. We were a group of Nigerian doctors working in the same hospital then, and we used to debate the election and Naija politics almost on a daily basis. By 2019 they were feeling ashamed about their choice. I never really have any emotional attachment to these politicians so i am able to make logical assessments not clouded by wishful thinking.

Araujo was still at RB when we scored our 2 goals. He moved to CB at 2-1 down for Barca. It will be interesting to see how they set up today.

I don't expect us to dominate but it shouldn't be as it was at tye Camp Nou...I am interested to see how we will fare in a midfield of Casemiro, Sabitzer and Bruno that's if Sancho starts else I go with the starting line up you shared.

If we press well, there's every tendency we will catch Busi (If he starts) or Kessie off guard...

Our other forwards players have to step up because they'll pay more attention to Rashford tonight.

Yes i expect our possession to be marginally better today. Rather than 60/40 like the first leg maybe 55/45.

Regarding the bolded i like how ETH and Xavi were playing cat and mouse games in the first leg. Thinking Rashford was going to play LW Xavi started his best defender Araujo at RB, only to find out Rashford was at CF. During the game he switched Araujo back to CB in order to match up with Rashford.

With Barcelona missing Pedri and Gavi, I don't expect us to surrender the midfield to them.

Any news on Antony?
Gavi is not really the midfield controller that Pedri is. If Busquets starts and FDJ is moved a little forward we will still cede more possession to them. The only scenario in which i see them ceding possession to us is if Busquets is still absent, and even with that they might still have more possession.

You have to realize that we are just starting our process under this new style of football. Teams like Barca, Assanal are ahead of us in that regards. What we need to do well in this game is press and counter-press them at opportune moments and create transition opportunities.

DonJ’s nihilist hallucinations make me remember an experience I had as a kid traveling by bus from Kaduna to Lokoja. Along the Abuja-Lokoja expressway, our vehicle was flagged down by a soldier. The soldier was angered by our drivers impatience to answer his queries and angrily threatened to delay the vehicle and discipline the driver severely. In the soldiers exact words: “By the time i finish with you, you go dey see me. When you dey chop, you go dey see me. Even when you dey sleep, you go dey see me. Very interesting. My guess is that Sancho will come in for Sabitzer even though I would rather Fred on the bench and Sabitzer in for him.

There are no away goals anymore so ultimately we have to win. I do accept that we need to make sure Busquests and FDJ dont grab hold of that midfield though.
I don't see ETH benching Fred unless Sabitzer and Casemiro have been mad impressive in training. They have never played together so i would prefer to use the tried and tested partnership of Case and Fred.

So want to tell me that as a man UTD fan, defensively you prefer dalot to awb
Based on the totality of this season, yes. Defending is more than just sliding all over the place like a champion skier. Additionally RBs are important in terms of the attacking aspect of the game as well. I prefer Dalot as a RB.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 3:13pm On Feb 22, 2023
delkuf:
like you said it is what you prefer. But I don't see eth starting dalot against barca
He would start him if he was fully fit and back to form. Before Dalot's recurrent injury he was the preferred RB and it was so bad that AWB almost never played and Dalot was playing 90mins back to back to back. He started against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City this season.

A fully fit Dalot is preferable to a fully fit AWB. Dalot is better in terms of positional awareness, defending the back post and even aerially. Dalot is also better in possession and against the press. AWB is a better 1v1 defender and that is it. He is actually the one that often forgets he is a defender with the way he often sleeps on duty at the back post and loses track of runners.

AWB is likely to start because i don't think Dalot is really back to his pre-injury form but if he is back to that sharpness ETH will start him.

The strange thing about Àtiku's moves this election period is that he's not really had much media attention scrutinising him.

Most of us don't even know much about his plans or manifesto till date. All the media has been throwing in our face is Tinubu and Obi's stories/plans.

It will be shocking if Atiku springs a surprise, wins and then we doon't even know what campaign promise we will hold him to account for after 4 years 🤦‍♂️

It is this calculation that i do not understand. Why would Atiku winning be a surprise? I always thought he was the most likely winner.
