The problem is that Newcastle is a defensively solid team that does not concede many goals. If we start badly and allow them score first, we will be in trouble.
We have to start with good tempo and get the first goal. Newcastle have PhD in time wasting once they are leading.

Atiku is still second and Obi a distant third from what I am seeing
Really? I have not seen the figures from the North.
I expect Obi to have a strong showing in the SE, SS, and partly in the NC.

I am not sure how much Atiku can recover after the giant eggs he laid in the south.

4 states he had never won before is not a feat??

I'm not proving your point I'm showing you that Atiku potentially losing all 11 states suggest he is not a serious candidate like you give him credit for. Obi's candidacy is not sufficient excuse for Atiku to lose all 11 states. How is that hard to understand?

Atiku's problem is he is not a dominant Northerner. If he dominated his region he wouldn't have this problem. In neutral states like Lagos and FCT he is also struggling.

If Atiku loses it will not be because Obi helped Tinubu it would be because Atiku himself is not a popular enough candidate
You proved my point that Obi took at least 7 states from Atiku and only 4 states from Tinubu in the south, hence Obi affected Atiku more than he affected Tinubu. That was my point all along. How serious Atiku is as a candidate is a different debate entirely.

Once again. Thanks 🙏

Imo?

I finally got the answer. Not just Imo but Ebonyi as well as Edo State with a sitting PDP governor who defeated APC with the slogan “Edo no be Lagos”.

I have been reliably informed that Tinubu would have won them all if not for Obi.

You're asking question. I gave you 4 states in the SS/SE APC could have won or easily garnered the 25% required. And I didn't even include places like Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers where Tinubu can easily get 25%

Guy. I'm telling you that the average SS/SE does not see any real difference between Atiku and Tinubu. With both their names on the ballot it's not sure for Atiku that he wins all 11 states. Don't ask me which states cos I answered in my previous post. If you insist on not seeing it nothing I can do about that.

Is it not telling that SS/SE voters would rather vote an Obi with an unlikely chance of winning than an Atiku that supposedly presented a more realistic chance of winning?

Like I said your argument would have been solid if Atiku won some states in the SS/SE. But in the event of Obi winning all 11 states. Saying Obi helped Tinubu instead of admitting Atiku has been overrated doesn't make much sense. You're not a spoiler if you win more states than the person you supposedly spoiled elections for
4 states pere. So Tinubu would have won 4 states and Atiku would have won 7 states?

So because of Obi, Atiku went from winning 7 state to winning 0 state. Minus 7 states! cry

While Tinubu lost only 4 possible states.

According to your own theory.

Thanks for proving my point. 🙏

You can’t just assess over 1 game. Watch them over 1 or 2 years in the academy and reserves then judge them when they make their senior appearances.

You're telling me Tinubu can't win Imo? Ebonyi? Edo, Cross Rivers with Ayade?

Voter apathy, cutting a few deals and cooking a few books is all it would have taken.

Think about it. Atiku's deputy now is a sitting governor in Delta state and still Delta is not sure for Atiku. This should show you that irrespective of party Deltans no send him papa. After all two sitting senators are APC.
You are the one with answers. You tell me the SE state that Tinubu of the APC party that just finished wrecking Nigeria over 8 years would have won.
The same Tinubu that was instrumental in getting Buhari into office and watched as Buhari destroyed the country.

The alleged Tribalist Tinubu with a Muslim VP against liberal Atiku with a Christian Igbo VP.

Which SE states would that same Tinubu have won in a straight contest with Atiku.

If it was between tinubu and atiku, Tinubu will definitely get a lot of votes. Even if atiku wins it will be narrowly.

You think igbos are happy with Northern dominance?

There is a reason igbos supported obasanjo to win massively. Wasnt because of PDP. It was cos they were tired of Northern presidency which never took Nigeria anywhere. Maybe after that, PDP became the party they supported more.

But thinking that Obi took atikus vote in SE is balderdash. Obi took both the ones timubu would have gotten too.
Look at this calling my opinion balderdash. grin
Insults won’t add anything to your argument.

My question is easy. Atiku vs Tinubu which states would Tinubu have won? In this election that APC had wrecked the country? Which SE states would Tinubu have won?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 11:12am On Feb 26, 2023
A40:
That's neither here nor there. If Atiku can lose all 11 SS states. Am I supposed to assume states like Cross Rivers, Imo, Rivers, Bayelsa even Edo couldn't have been stolen by APC?

If Atiku goes 0-11 H2H vs Obi in that entire region while Atiku cannot hold his weight up North then the help argument is immaterial.

Ok say Obi finishes with more votes than Atiku you will still say Obi helped Tinubu? Or that Atiku was simply not popular enough to win on his own merits
Lol so you can’t tell me which SE states Tinubu would have won?

Another question. Whose votes did Obi cut into more, was it Atiku’s votes or Tinubu votes?

One thing about electoral maths is that it doesn’t care about your feelings. 😁
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 11:07am On Feb 26, 2023
This election is now between Tinubu and Obi.

Atiku fall hand big time, but one of the major factors is the Obi campaign juggernaut which was beyond his control.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 11:05am On Feb 26, 2023
It is this same lack of understanding of electoral mathematics that made Obidients angry that Tinubu chose a Northern Muslim, when he was going to be smashed at the polls if he did different.

A40:
Naah I don't agree Atiku wins by landslide in SS/SE. Are you forgetting 3 of the states in that region are under APC?

You say Obi took away 11 states from Atiku. I say who says the 11 states are for Atiku? Hustle your votes is the name of the game. Atiku picked a governor from Delta and even the same Delta is not guaranteed to vote Atiku. That says it all.

Now let's come to the North. Atiku's numbers are far from impressive. Most of the Northern voters voting Obi would have sat out the elections. Same with the South.

Kwankwaso network no pass Kano and Jigawa that means 17 Northern states to fight for. Benue and Plateau are potentially leaning towards Obi. That is making 15 states up for grabs

Again everyone is expecting people to step aside for Atiku instead of him to compete on his own rights.

So your argument might be right in principle but how can we argue Obi helped Tinubu when we should be asking if Atiku is actually good enough to help himself?
You are conflating electoral mathematics with the substance and quality of the candidate.

Which states would Tinubu have won in the SE in a straight contest between Atiku and Tinubu. Let’s start from there.

What this tells me is Atiku is a leech banking on SS/SE votes

Why is he entitled to votes from that geopolitical zone when his standing is shaky in the North? If he cannot win North Central states and deep North states why should the SS and SE back him?

This is the entitlement we're talking about. If he was winning in the North it's a different case but as we speak can you point 5 states in the North that is banker for Atiku?
That is a different argument. What I was addressing is your claim that Obi did not help Tinubu.

Without Obi you and I know that Atiku defeats Tinubu in the SE in a landslide and also wins the SS.

To simplify. Obi took 11 states away from Atiku in the SS and SE.

Even most of Obi’s NC votes are Northern Christian votes that would have gone majorly to Atiku.

Kwankwaso completed the hatchet job by stripping Atiku of his NW PDP votes.

What must have surprised him (like it did many of us) was the strength of the Obi movement. Immediately Obi became a major factor Atiku’s hopes were doomed.

It's not enough to do well. He's supposed to dominate tbh.

There are 19 states in the North including FCT. If na serious candidate he should at the very least sweep the entire North central. Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Benue, Adamawa, Taraba, Jos

People say Obi has helped Tinubu but I beg to differ. I'd argue Atiku is the one helping Tinubu. For those that see Obi's votes as votes that could have gone to Atiku, they are sadly mistaken.

In Lagos and FCT for example you think people would have come out to vote if Tinubu and Atiku were on the ballot? Those Obi voters would have stayed in their respective houses
You keep looking at it the wrong way.

In a straight fight between Atiku and Tinubu who would have won each of these states?

Anambra
Enugu
Imo
Abia
Ebonyi
Delta
Edo
Rivers
Bayelsa

We had one youth guy who had talents to be a 6 tho. Dylan Levitt or something. Can't remember his name. He was just too small and not strong enough, I think.

It may surprise you but Mainoo might fill that Casemiro hole (or groomed to fill it). I'm saying this going by the games he's played with the senior team.
Dylan Levitt was more like a playmaking 8 with his passing range. He grew up with Jimmy Garner who was usually the 6.
I really liked Levitt but he struggled with the physical aspect of the game but I believe if he had graduated now he would have gotten a chance with ETH.

Regarding Kobbie Mainoo he probably could be rejigged to become a 6. He has been a CM/AM all his life though.

Sure. We're covered in that aspect with Casemiro. But we should start planning 2-3 years ahead. Not saying we have to get KP. But we should be thinking about that position come this summer.
Definitely. For next next season we actually need a capable Casemiro substitute and also another player to send Eriksen to the bench.

This current crop of academy midfielders might be able supply at least 2 squad midfielders in 2-3 years time, although more likely at 8 and 10 not 6.
