These guys should have more discipline than this. You are leading 2-0 and now 2 CMs have yellow cards. |
raumdeuter:I said during the group stages. Iwobi needs to have 2 more defensive minded CMs with him and we will play much better and have better control. |
Unlimited22:I agree. That potato farm pitch issue is actually not less important. For some reason it affects us more than most other African teams. |
timbros:I am talking about the whole tournament. And thinking about the teams we had in our qualifying group. |
This is the best I have seen the Super Eagles play in a tournament in a while. I think we would have made the World Cup if we had started the qualifiers with Chelle. |
izzou:It is an antipsychotic medication (Schizophrenia, Bipolar) which has a secondary use as an anti-emetic (Nausea, Vomiting). Wetin happen? You see am inside your esteemo bag? ![]() |
If Fletcher is just a temporary fix before an interim is found then the obvious choice seems to be Carrick. McKenna won’t want to leave his present job for an interim job IMO. |
engrelvis:4-3-3 if a single pivot player is available. 4-2-3-1 if no single pivot player available or if utilising a very attack minded 10. Essentially 4-3-3 if Jim Thwaites is playing single pivot but if JJ Gabriel is playing the 10 he switches to a 4-2-3-1 to ensure midfield solidity. Possession-based but high tempo. Full backs encouraged to bomb forward and sometimes they invert especially in build up phase. The team stubbornly tries to pass out from the back and pass in between the lines into midfield a lot. All these things are possible because our Under-18s on the average are technically better than most other teams. This won’t be the case with the senior team. Also his team appears to depend on a ball-playing GK and Jim Thwaites (deep-lying playmaker) a lot as well as JJ Gabriel’s 1v1 ability in attack. PS If he is in charge for just a couple of games his style of play won’t matter. He won’t have enough time to make a drastic impact tactically. We just need a new manager bounce from him. |
GloriousGbola:I do not have any knowledge of Maduro himself being a trafficker but I do know that numerous members of the Venezuelan government and especially its military have been involved in drug trafficking for years. The US can claim that only a regime change can address the problems since the present government itself is tainted and has proved itself either unwilling or unable to solve the problem. Or maybe they can claim that they have intelligence linking Maduro to those cliques in his government that are involved in the business. I am not in support of a country unilaterally going to another country to arrest its president, especially since I believe that the core reason is a selfish need to exploit that country. However, the point that Venezuela is incredibly porous to drug trafficking because upper echelon members of government and military are involved is a fact. It is not made up. Trump might be exploiting it for his own selfish reasons but it does not take away from that real problem. |
BlueRayDick:Exactly. You are getting the point. You pile up reasons and excuses for your actions and hope one or all stick. The drug issue is just another reason/excuse to add. It is not the actual reason for the action but it is also not untrue. Even the Noriega that was removed back in the day for drug trafficking, the US knew about him for years but overlooked it as long as he was useful to them. When he became more of a liability they removed him. |
Leyqute:Let’s wait and see. From the Under-18 games he seems to have a style of play that he prefers and coaches well AT THAT LEVEL. Let’s just hope for respectable and reasonable results until the end of the season. And a bit of opportunity for fringe players to show if they have a future here or not. |
CapitalCee:To be fair Amad will thrive tactically under any formation but yes those other players you mentioned will do well with a switch back to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. A few more academy players will get minutes this season for sure. His twins are actually in the way of some of our other potential prospects (Kone, Thwaites). He will probably do what any father will do. LOL I am just hoping for a respectable showing until the end of the season. Then we reset in the summer. |
patrickmuf:I just went though the posts again. The only United fan that complained about the sacking was engrelvis. There was another poster who is a Chelshit fan who complained and was most likely trolling. IMO we should stop derailing by manufacturing narratives out of nothing. |
TrebleChamp:Both are reasonable options. I just fear for that Flick high line in this EPL. LOL |
patrickmuf:Maybe you are bringing twitter and internet issues here. I don’t think people here said sacking him was the wrong decision. What has been said is that it is not yet Uhuru. I personally am not moved by sackings anymore. Until I see how the club is moving in terms of new manager appointments and squad building. The last 2 sackings (which were all richly deserved) have made us worse. We need to get the appointment after the sacking right. That is the crucial point being made. |
CapitalCee:Yeah I think we are safe for this season. Na the first thing I go check be that, my broda. Abeg I hope we get some new interim manager bounce with Fletcher and deal the deal. One thing I expect is more minutes for some academy players (that is if our injured players don’t come rushing back). |
odizeey:They are tunnel-vision people. With every sacking things appear to get worse. Even this interim appointment of Fletcher dey risky. He has been coaching for less than 6 months. The first thing I did when I hear the news was to go to check out points in the table to make sure say relegation no dey possible this season again. Like I always say, the sacking of a coach is not the main issue but the appointment of the replacement is where we stumble. We also need to improve in squid building. The only manager left that I have some hope in is Nagelsmann but he is another philosophy king. With the last 2 appointments those philosophers don dey scare me. |
larride:This Fletcher appointment na chess move. No be today them don dey plan am. They sha should not repeat the Ole mistake. Amorim’s recent outbursts now make sense. The guy must have seen the kurukere moves. LOL Let’s see how fast our injured players get back. Especially Mainoo. |
BlueRayDick:Lots of facts but context and interpretation are key. Venezuela’s economic history mirrored that of Nigeria and Trinidad. Oil boom in 1970s due to the Arab oil embargo followed by economic difficulties in the 80s and 90s when the Arabs came back on the scene with increased oil production and exportation. Chavez also definitely purged and politicised their national oil company which worsened the corruption and exacerbated the already existing financial hardship PRIOR to the US oil embargoes. Much of the government and military are also in the drugs game. The drugs game gives many people easy access to juicy amounts of money that does not have to be accounted for in anyway and that does not need much infrastructure or management acumen. This is because they are just middlemen with production in Colombia and destination in America. This is easier money than the difficult task of trying extract and refine crude whose proceeds go to the government anyway (at least on paper). It is also true that their oil is difficult to extract and requires specialised refineries. His conclusion though is where I am not in tune with him. I still think oil is a major factor. If Venezuela had no oil at all I don’t think Maduro would have been extracted. |
Trump and Putin are the same person. It is just that one grew up in and rules over an authoritarian regime and one grew up in and rules over a democracy. Na why they understand themselves so well. |
That was some deeply atrocious football on display. |
CapitalCee:Yes. It is a problem he has to work on. In this particular case his positioning was all wrong. Meanwhile Cunha almost always chooses the low percentage option. |
TrebleChamp:His inexperience shows at critical times. Let’s see what he will cook today. I am starting to think he does not rate Lacey at all. The last match when he brought Mantato on instead of Lacey was interesting. I think he gave in to fear and was cowardly with that substitution. |
Harry Amass has struggled himself to a 2nd consecutive Player of the Month for his loan club. |
See uprooting of ball by Bissouma and Abdi. |
izzou:Big bank take little bank. All day. Everyday. Trump has no conscience or moral code. The icing on the cake is that he has no shame about it. |
raumdeuter:The guy will pick a 1 in 100 event and bring it here to make a point. ![]() |
Hannibal Mejbri was lucky there. That was a close shave. |
chrisooblog:Yes, Noriega was a significant CIA asset. |
GloriousGbola:It is not completely made up though it does not make it legitimate. The Venezuelan military and upper echelons of their government are knee-deep in drug trafficking. It is very similar to the Noriega situation. I lived in the Caribbean right next to Venezuela and even back then it was known. Colombian forests (FARC and the cartels) to Venezuela (military) to Trinidad (police) to Jamaica to Miami was the route. I think i have mentioned it once on this forum. Notwithstanding that, a country should not just unilaterally arrest the head of state of another country. |
Ibime:If you read about Noriega, he was a rough and rugged military officer who swam through the shark-infested waters of Panama's military to rise to the top before taking over. Maduro is a bloody civilian and ex-bus driver who was handpicked for the job. The Venezuelan equivalent of Noriega was Chavez. |
GloriousGbola:This is not new. US already did something nearly identical when they captured Manuel Noriega decades ago. |
