Telles is slow for a full back and physically weak. This has nothing to do with tactics. He is not suited to the EPL. The fact that the coach is useless does not automatically mean that the players are good.

Na so one show me pepper that year. For two hours the lectures lasted that day I was on the floor prostrated begging cos he promised to deal with me emphatically . . The weyrey tried sha but I practically turned the course to my daily medicine , I dey read him course morning and night . I made it so difficult for him to fail me because I predicted the exam questions correctly gave him the correct answers and made sure I no even talk pim to anybody for hall before dem go collect my sheet for malpractice . I passed the course tho but the stress I had to go through was too much .

You get courage sha. In our school when results are released they don't use PASS or FAIL.

They use "THOSE WHO HAVE SATISFIED THE EXAMINER" and "THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SATISFIED THE EXAMINER", meaning theoretically you can answer questions correctly and not satisfy the examiner. After all who is to tell a man what satisfies him and what does not.

There was a lecturer who kept failing his own son because of beef with the boy's mother. Funny thing is both father and mother were Profs in the school but not together. All the senior lecturers and Profs kept begging the man but he said the boy had not satisfied him. Case closed.

From my personal experience with how government in Nigeria treats workers that have grievances and how strike that should be the last resort has had to become the only resort, i can't comfortably criticize any Nigerian public employee that goes on strike.

Last few years as Trent and Bissaka were still upcoming, they were literally polar opposites.

One is technically gifted, an offensive menace but poor defensively. The other was technically poor, very poor in offense but considered a god in one on one defending.

Years later, one has grown to become defensively sound while his attacking prowess has only gotten better and better. The other fella meanwhile has added nothing to his game, still useless in offense, still poor technically, and has regressed defensively.

Question is what could have caused their careers to grow in opposite trajectory... Coaches, Mentality, Talent ceiling, Hardwork, Environment etc?

No need for all this long story. AWB never had the potential to be a great modem full back.

It’s easier to train a skilled player to become more defensively solid than it is to magically infuse skills and technique into a defensively solid player with no skill.

I think you are focusing on some specific situations in certain matches while what is happening here is a general overview and assessment. I would not call him a great overall defender. I fully agree that he is exceptional in 1v1 situations but he has been found wanting in positioning, awareness, decision making several times. Then he is really an eye sore going forward.

With his skillset the only big club that could have bought him was our clown-managed club. The fee of 50m is just extra punishment.

Criticism hasn’t always been fair on this page.

To say AWB is great defensively is a bit of an overstatement. He is quite good in 1v1 duels but there are other aspects of defending that he is limited in. Defending involves more than just sliding like a skier.

When AWB first came to the club he was good defensively overall because his 1v1 ability was aided by the relatively low block we played.

However there is more to defending than just 1v1 tackling.
He does not read the game well which is partly why he resorts to so many tackles (which he is excellent at by the way).

His positioning is poor and his football IQ is questionable as he is often the person that struggles the most whenever we switch formation at the back.

For a tall fullback he is also not very good in the air. Even when he gets his head to the ball first he gets no distance on the ball.

The final nail in his coffin is that he is incandescently useless going forward, and for a modern fullback especially in ETH’s system that is unacceptable.

I don't think any of that affects the Phillips' transfer though if he's willing. the man has to look after himself first.

They are about to be relegated this season as well. Our prayers are with them.

Alan Smith is also a Yorkshire man and Leeds through and through but he was able to do it. It depends on the strength of character of the individual and the the standing of Man Utd.

If we were winning titles like during Fergie's time things might have been different. He is not the only option anyway.

Afrodoc, I remember we had discussed the level of debt at Utd vs Chelsea at some point, and I said that some clubs have more debt vs Utd, but we don’t see it because of the structures they’ve adopted.

Utd’s debt today is less than 500m while Chelsea is owing over 1.5 billion pounds……and apparently, Abramovich wants his money. This is delaying the takeover transaction.
