1) Fred plays mainly as a CDM (no 6) for us but plays as a CM (No8) for Brazil. The 2 roles are different and excelling at one does not mean you will be good in the other. A no 6 depends more on positioning and ability to receive the ball from the CBs which are Fred's weaknesses. A No8 can either depend on technique, runs, passing or fall back on energy, work rate which is what Fred excels at.

2) We shouldn't play Fred in his preferred position as a no 8 cos that is also Pogba's best position and there is no debate about who is better between those 2. The best situation would be to buy a specialist CDM to play with Pogba and relegate McFred to the bench where they belong.

3) Even if the positions were exactly the same international football is different in terms of the pace of play, team dynamics e.t.c. Doing well in one does not mean you will excel in the other.

LOL. If i had made comments during that extra time i would have handed the manager insults that i would have regretted later. I never went back to read any of the comments here in the hours and days after the match but i hope no player was blamed for that performance. Once it got to penalties i knew that DDG was not going to save any penalty even if they played 50 kicks.

I do not support the extension either. But I don’t think they would offer him a new deal if there was absolutely no reason for it. Ofcourse the manager cannot be exempted, if he had told the board he has no use for Mata, then he wouldn’t have been offered a new deal. I am just suggesting that they renewed his contract because of his contributions in the dressing room. With the way the pandemic has hit club finances, I don’t think they will be spending money on a new deal for Mata if they didn’t deem it necessary for some reason.

Kalvin Philips looks good as well, shouldn’t cost much to lure him over.

1) The transfer window is not over so we might still get a quality CDM

2) Even if he doesn't replicate his Madrid form he will be an improvement on Lindelof. He is quicker and better in the air than the Swede and his qualities compliment Maguire better.

3) With a better and more solid CB partnership we might be able to play just one half of McFred and bench the other half.

Also put into consideration that he’ll move from Casemiro as his anchor to McFred, which ultimately means more pressure.

Varane is better than Lindelof, Dr Bailly or Tuanzebe. In particular his height and pace will complement Maguire in a way Lindelof never could. Getting him for 40-50 m pounds will be good business IMO.

Hummels don finish long, long time ago. I was a big Hummels fan back then and know that shortly after 2014 most of the quality left his game.

Na 3 man defence even save Germany small. Play Hummels in a 2 man central defence against quality opposition and you are likely to concede goals in bunches.

Yeah Lineker's record is one of the ones that would probably not be repeated. However it is important to note he is not the only person to have achieved that feat, only the most recent.

Another great record is Carlos Gamarra's record. Central defender who played 8 games in 2 World Cups and never conceded a foul.
