If Amaka can't get the job done against Leipzig and sends us back to Europa he had better go on a good run and win the league. Otherwise he needs to go cos it just seems we are just driving round and round a roundabout.

If the Southampton manager didn’t want our players to celebrate he simply had to win the match or at least not throw away a 2 goal lead.

The article died the moment the writer tried to sneaked in the Asaba 1967 Massacre story into the article. That very part of the article tears to tatters his claim of : "This is not a #HistoryClass to whitewash the legacy of Murtala Mohammed. Neither is it one to spit on his grave. "

The Cheta guy's bias didn't allow him do justice to a very good topic. He could've avoided the Asaba massacre story not to sound as someone who is stilled bittered by the alleged attrocities that happened in the war; some of which fingers point at Gowon, Murtala and other soldiers.

That aside, i think he could've done better by educating us on if truly civil servants that were incompetent, if they were involved in malpractice, falsified their ages, etc as claimed by Murtala. He should've balanced things by pointing at sources to either confirm the reason Murtala gave for their dismissals or otherwise. It is only after that we can argue whether the punishment of summary dismissal is a case of killing a cockroach with a pestle or a justified decision.

I agree with you what he did there is a lazy piece of journalistic work. Mr. Obimgbo he refrenced in the article could've been a civil servant who was getting paid doing nothing like we have so many people in Alausa today ( I actually have a friend there doing same)
Very well said. No context whatsoever. I could have written a better article while playing PS4.

Why did Murtala retrench civil servants? He does not say.

Exactly how did this retrenchment lead to institutional corruption? He does not say.

No real mention of the oil boom.
No mention of the Udoji awards.
No mention of the proliferation of white elephant projects and other arbitrary and unnecessary contracts.
No mention of the size and state of the civil service at that time compared to other employers of labor.

I am not a Murtala apologist by any stretch but alleging that corruption started with him is ridiculous.

I liked the article because it unmasks this charade of deifying murtala Mohammed.

The article does point out there was unarguably corruption in place already but murtala's selfish act of wiping out the civil service instigated the corruption in the civil service and most importantly the nepotism which still plagues it.
It is just not true. There was serious corruption in the civil service already especially in the Gowon regime.

That article lies somewhere between an outright lie and a rewriting of history.

In terms of the deification of Murtala that is only for those who believe anyone is perfect.

His actions during the Civil war and even the 1966 counter-coup have nothing to do with the supposed subject matter actually. This is why the article appears more to be an attempt to malign Murtala than any explanation of the origin of institutional corruption in Nigeria.

His record at United ?

His is the fastest united coach to reach 50wins.
And many more .......

Last season we expected a top 4 finish

He gave us that.

What are our expectations this season ?
That fastest to 50 wins thing can be misleading.

Busby inherited a club in turmoil. Fergie inherited a club with some good players but half of them pretty much drunkards.

His record in terms of wins and points is not up to what i expect considering the players he has.

What is more worrying is the quality and style of football which seems to be more instinctive than actually tactically constructed.

If you play good football and have good players you are more likely to win games because what you are doing is reproducible.

If your football is not really good but your players are good OR if your football is good but your players are average you get inconsistency.

I expect us to compete for the title this season and even if we don’t win it at least come close.

I also expect a deep Champion’s League run to QF or SF stages.

Nice article detailing the beginning of institutional corruption in Nigeria.

https://ynaija.com/cheta-nwanze-historyclass-what-really-is-murtala-mohammeds-legacy/
Poorly written article claiming not to be spitting on Murtala’s grave but going ahead to do just that.

It was not a balanced article as it touched on a number of his negatives but no positives and did not give any context to anything.

Institutional corruption did not start because Murtala sacked en masse.

Murtala sacked en masse because of institutional corruption.

If you want to know how corruption started in Nigeria you have to go back further to the First Republic and probably more crucially to Gowon’s 9 year rule.

Can we also say his Cardiff stints means nothing

As far as I know Cardiff is a mediocre team just like molde

But we all pay attention because one got relegated and the other won the so called Norwegian league
I am interested in his record at Manchester United.

Whatever good or bad he did before he got here is for his own pocket.

At Manchester United he has shown decent man management skills but questionable ability as a trainer and as a tactician.

The results and the quality of football is not up to the quality of footballers at his disposal.

Your not getting my point bro

I am not saying it was his record at Molde that give him the job, hell I never knew ole was a manager till he was appointed as caretaker.

You talked about his records at Cardiff and United and I just said you didn't consider what he did at Molde which was where he was before coming to United.
His record at Molde means nothing.

There are many mediocre managers winning mediocre titles in mediocre leagues. It does not prove that they are anything but mediocre.

Ole has been mediocre so far in terms of tactics and training but he is a good man manager and he has a number of good players at his disposal. Furthermore he has been better (or luckier) than the previous managers in the transfer market.

You guys should chill. Cavani played heavy minutes in the last game. Someone with his age and injury history has to be used with caution until he proves his full return to fitness. It does not help anyone to play Cavani heavy consecutive minutes then he cops a 3 month injury.

Even if Cavani doesn’t have strength to play 90mins every match day back to back, Ole has to find a way to play him consistently.
He is slowly building up his fitness.. He has been injured on and off for over 2 years. If Ole loads him with minutes early on he will be another Jones or Rojo. I think he has shown that although his injuries have diminished his powers a little they have not destroyed them. He will probably be our starting CF very soon.

I have always said Cavani has the best movement in football. I really can't name any striker with his movement in the last 15yrs. Maybe Falcao for a 4yr period.

Well, you may be right, as that's your area of expertise.

Na just wetin we dey hear for gym those days be that.... probably bro science.
No it’s proper science and you are right that it is a factor. I just believe the volume of punches per fight and the number of fights that smaller weight guys have are bigger factors.

Remember that even the punches that don’t knock you out are damaging brain cells and neural pathways quietly.

The boxers that take brain damage gaan, tend to be the ones that cut extremely the 2-3 days before weigh-in.

Maybe it's something about the reduction of total water sloshing around in their brains or something....but you don't get as many brain damage issues at heavyweight, ironically where there's a lot more power.

It's mostly middle and below where niggas have to makeweight that the brain damage happens.
Volume of punches is the major factor I believe.

Lower weights throw a thousand punches a minute while heavier weights spend 80% of the time romancing the stone.

How many heavyweight boxers can try the pace of Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward or even Hagler vs Hearns or stand and exchange punches like Hagler vs Mugabi.

Also the smaller guys on the average start earlier and fight more fights, which is in agreement with the research findings on CTE.

It is the sweet science. The art of hitting and not getting hit. Not everybody takes much punishment e.g early Pernell Whitaker, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Money Mayweather.

Then they are those who take heavy punishment and don’t really suffer from it due to their olumo rock heads. A good example is Marvin Hagler.

Ali was just unlucky that he fought past his prime in a samurai era if not he would have been fine. Most of the damage came later in his career when he should not have been fighting.

When I say Hazard lacks the mentality I'm not throwing that word around loosely. He came to Madrid overweight. Who shows up to the biggest move of their career out of shape? It's affected his conditioning and has made his body unable to function optimally

Even if Hazard is fit I guarantee you he can't perform at that world class level you think or Chelsea fans have deceived you to think he can, he's not done it since 2012 in elite Europe, why do you suddenly think he will do it now?

Hazard has not suffered injuries like Sane but since Sane came to Bayern he has been making impact whether he plays for 15mins or 70 mins.

He already has 5 goals and any match he is playing the danger is palpable whenever he touches the ball. Even the few matches we have seen Hazard, he's not a threat
When Neymar was getting injured yearly he will still come back drop some goals in league and champions league before he goes back to sickbay.

This Belgian overhyped dancer we warned them about for years has been alternating between injury and poor form for over a year.

Well said. But there are various ways to approach the problem and provide a solution.

Quick question- how many teams have all the criteria you’ve listed and play out from the back in the EPL? Do you notice anything particular about how Leicester play from the back?
I have not really watched them much this season but i know they have all the components at a more balanced level than us.

Their CBs are fairly good on the ball with both right and left foot.

Both fullbacks are decent on the ball.

Their CDMs are good on the half turn, something McTom and especially Fred struggle with.

Watch Leeds play. They have all the components, and it starts from Yorkshire Pirlo (Kalvin Phillips).

If your CDMs can’t turn efficiently and your full backs can’t hold the ball confidently you really should forget building from the back.

Our weakest position is at manager which is why people are having low expectations.

We were all over the place because we tried to build from the back with Maguire and Matic and Ole wasn’t brilliant enough to exploit the gaping holes left in midfield by their pressers.

Many ways dey to beat the press. If Bruno or any of the attackers drop deep and occupy the space left by their midfielders who joined in the pressing, we can inflict serious damage whenever that attacker gets the ball.

I’ve seen Pep do this with KdB.
You need your holding midfielder to be comfortable on the ball and especially on the half turn, and you need both full backs to be comfortable on the ball and the CBs to be good on the ball and comfortable in wide areas.

Our team is not built for playing from the back, which is why competent pressing teams make our attempts at building from the back appear suicidal.
