olabode89t: I agree boss. There is no one in the current 160lbs and 168lbs division with that sort of power at the moment. Also his body punching is a big asset for him
Yes his hooks n body shots are nice. He is also very smart and obviously studies the game continuously.
olabode89t: I was trying to hype Smith o... Omo, Canelo beat the shit out of him. I still don't understand why Smith didn't box behind his jab and also utilize his physical advantages.
It was kinda shocking how Canelo walked down the bigger man all through the bout.
Canelo has both great defence and offence.
In terms of offence he has power and hand speed plus he knows how to control tempo and switch styles from boxing to brawling as the fight dictates.
In terms of defence he has good head movement, weaving speed, and a very underrated chin. That his solid neck is also helpful no doubt.
Meaning unless you possess Tommy Hearns/Jackson/Mugabi/Hagler kind of power he will walk you down and inflict pain on you.
Golovkin gave him problems for those same reasons. Golovkin has arguably greater power and definitely has a tougher chin.
Spy360: Nketiah broke the English record for goals in U21. That's a sign. Give him time.
That is a dubious sign. People with records of goals and appearances with the England under-21 squad are usually average to slightly above average players who spend too much time at that level without getting promoted to the senior side.
CapitalCee: But doc i am not saying that Sancho is a shi.t player, my point is he is overated. If he is coming for 60m, that will be a perfect deal as he will clearly improve our forward line. Our issue is the 120m price tag, and the fact that some are happing on Ed to just pay it up, that by next summer, clubs will be lining up with 150m+ for a transfer war, you were among the few proponent of signing sancho who actually understood our point then and pointed out that tge price tag was yoo high, some were even saying that its cheap for a " generational" talent. Imagine ordinary a transfer saga unsettled him, imagine how a 120m price tag (upfront) will do to his confidence is he have the Martialesque type of season start. He might not recover from it. Maguire is not as bad as people portray him to be but that £80m will continue to be his albatross unless he have a legendary career from now. Maguire to me is more psychologically stronger than Sancho, Sancho's confidence will definitely be in tatters added that he is now in Man Utd and English.
Secondly, There was no where I said his current form invalidates his previous form, even in the middle of his hot streak, i maintained that he is not as good as people think he is, I said same thing for Havertz of Chelsea, they thought i was trolling. Sancho is a good player but not the 2nd best Young Forward after Mbappe, he is not better than Rashford, Reyna, Halaand, Felix, Greenwood and Fati. His numbers are good but he drops very poor performances every now and then, most of his goals comes against poor oppositions and he requires his team to be on top to perform, he doesn't take games at the scruff of the neck single handedly like the names i mentioned above. I have watched him very closely both in Dortmund and England. Personally I think Reyna is better than him, not basing it on stats alone, Reyna pose bigger problems to defenders and creates far more better chances than Sancho and he is younger. 2 of Sancho's goals were confidence boosting penalties.
Even the Rashford who was struggling with injuries for half of last season and fans were abusing last season was playing similar position with Sancho. Sancho got 20g-20A. Rashford got 22g-12A in the same number of matches. One was playing in an ultra attacking team. But we were meant to believe he is better than Rashford when even at their national team, Rashy was ahead of him.
Sancho is a good player no doubt, but fans should stop overhyping him, so that Ed will price him very well and get the right price not 120m that Dortmund are surely regretting now. I dont have anything against him, i will want him in our team, but we fans need to calm down with our hyping. Imagine if na we go buy Havertz for 100m.
You have made good points however I think it is still too early to make a pronouncement on whether Reyna is better than Sancho.
He has a relatively average season so far. We will see if it’s just a brief loss in form or if he goes back to his productive best.
We should be focusing on CDM and CB in order to improve the squad in crucial areas. I personally think the Sancho deal is a thing of yday. We should move on and buy strategically.
patrickmuf: No be small argument for here...I said it at that time that Dortmund will struggle to sell Sancho for anything close to what we offered.
That was probably the first time i was supporting Woodward in any action. It seems he learnt a big lesson from the Maguire and AWB deals. No player is worth distorting our transfer plans for.
DeadPresidents: Afrodoc2, are you sure Sancho subconsciously downing tools is the valid explanation for his less-than-stellar start to the season or the fact that the ultra-attacking Achraf Hakimi was replaced by old man Meunier?
Hakimi was not at the under-17 World Cup where he was the best player in the victorious team that had Foden, Hudson Ode e.t.c until he had to leave.
Hakimi was not there when Sancho was running through all the youth leagues in England. He did basically what Greenwood did a year later but from the wings ( mainly left wing though).
Ibeme: They said McClellan started that blinking action after the first fight with Jackson, although he had few fights in between including knocking Jackson out in the first round before facing Benn.
I did not see anything Benn threw with the concussive power to turn Gerald into a paraplegic but he was behaving weird throughout that fight, including blinking and letting his mouth guard hang loose out of his mouth. I think high volume of mid-power mildly concussive shots is what causes health problems for middleweights.
You also have to remember how stacked the middleweight divisions were from the mid-80s to mid-90s. There were no days off like what we saw with Joshua-Usyk. Every fighter you fought was a dogfight whether going from Duran, Haggler, Hearns to Roy Jones, McClellan, Jackson at the turn of the 90s to the British boys of Benn, Eubank and Watson. Every 3 or 4 months, you are dealing with a killer, not a walkover and facing multiple mildly concussive headshots.
Those divisions were loaded. While Tyson was running through a weak heavyweight division the welterweights and middleweights were running into killers every other day. It was like swimming through a crocodile infested river.
CapitalCee: You guys should be thanking me and Expert17 etc for raising the decibel and crying that he is overatted.
Some even said he is the best U-21 player after Mbappe. What a fu.ckery?? 18 year old Gio Reyna is clearly head and shoulders better than Sancho, the guy is a baller, breaks down defence with dribbles, passes and deft touches.
The matches Sancho starts is because of his overhyped name and so that they can market him by all means and eke out reasonable money for him. How some of us didnt see this earlier on is baffling, somebody that Rashford and Sterling are comfortably benching in England. Some even blamed Southgate for tactics.
I supported Woodward pulling out from the deal after Dortmund refused to budge from their ridiculous demands however we have to be fiar in our assessment.
Firstly, how 4 months of poor form totally invalidates 2yrs of great form is what i don't understand. So you mean this 4 months Sancho is the real Sancho and the one of the last 2 years, and the youth teams of Man City and England is the fake one?
Secondly although i rate Reyna highly he has 3 goals and 5 assists in the league and UCL while Sancho has 2 goals and 5 assists. You are making it sound like there is a huge gap between them in terms of output when it is actually close.
Also Sancho's overall whoscored ratings are still quite good in the league and in the UCL and are as good as those of Reyna and Gnabry.
Lastly, it is clear that the whole transfer debacle unsettled him and his mind is not at Dortmund again and he has downed tools even if it is subconsciously.
The fact that he wasn't worth that huge fee that Dortmund were demanding should not make us completely disregard the facts. He is not at his best but let's not make it like he is flopping.
nateevs: The way grown men just get one hit gbam, and suddenly grown ass legs turn into infant ones. That was just mind-blowing and scary.
The funny thing is he himself didn't have a tough chin, which was what made him vulnerable. If his chin was solid as well he would have been nearly impossible to beat.
BlueRayDick: Baba I couldn't watch it up to the 3rd minute o. The way those guys were hitting the canvass makes the whole art of the bouts lost on me. Mehn! Like they just freeze in motion and drop once they get hit. E be like say the guy dey conjure their brain
I don't think I can like boxing as a sport jare, it looks more as a means of eliminating one's opponent and less of a sport
Lol. Bruv not all fights are bloody. Maybe you should start with a few Pernell Whittaker videos since you no too like punishment.
nihilistjnr: Bomber Graham's gym in Sheffield was literally 5 minutes walk from my house back in the day
Wetin Julian Jackson do am no good. I dont want to link that punch with what happened to Bomber later in life because quite a bit happened, but that KO in particular could not have helped.
Practically everybody who fought Julian Jackson developed health problems much later and most of them were not the same immediately afterwards. Even if Jackson was not the immediate cause of Herol's health issues he was most likely the remote cause. Many people believe it was Jackson that phucked up McClellan's brain before Nigel Benn finished him.
He is one of the few boxers i can think off that can knock out with hooks and glancing blows WITH EITHER HAND. The only chin i can vouch for at that weight class to withstand peak Jackson is Hagler's.
And you know Bomber Graham was leading on the score cards when he was knocked unconscious.
The Chelshit team is good no doubt and more physically developed overall but our boys played into their hands with some atrocious passes at the back early on.
Once we went down 2-0 in the first 3 mins all Chelshit had to do was control the game and hit us with very sweet counters.
Also our coach did an Amaka and decided to change formation from a 4-2-3-1 to a 3-5-2 which i don’t think they have played all season.
They are better but not 6-1 better and in terms of players with top level potential both teams are about the same level.
This loss is on the coach who made a tactical error in his formation.
Special salutations to the crew. Elder afrodoc2, twale o.
I'm glad I'm not in that list. My career has been injured and I'm comfortable in retirement. These old bones have seen their share of jambodi tackles in League 2.
I'm just wondering who drew up this formation sha. Because no difference between this selection and Ole own.
Seasons greetings and a better 2021 to everyone and your families.
Longest time. We no just see your brake light.
No gatecrash our party at the end of the season when we are celebrating an EPL win o.
P.S And na correct yarns you just drop. If Otem fit erase this 2020 from history and memory plenty people no go mind. May 2021 be a good year personally and in all other ramifications for all of us.
olabode89: No be small destiny those guys dey thief and change o. I guess based on specific skill level, other guys in the age group, etc. them coaches they make decisions. I remember reading somewhere that McT started as a Striker, If not for Mourinho McT for mostlikely they play for a league 1 or league 2 team right now.
Yeah. Started as a striker but then was converted to midfielder but then when Rashford was promoted to 1st team and we had no striker in the reserves he played as striker again until Jose called him up.
Meaning it is possible that when they were at Under-14 and Under-16 together McTominay was playing in attack and Rashford was playing in midfield. Thank God we don restructure our youth coaching system.
But how Rashford was a 10 at youth level still dey daze me. Who were the youth coaches that saw his skill set and thought "hmmm, let us play him as an attacking midfielder". Some coaches don thief people destiny for that under-age level.
Just saw the first Sheffield goal. Henderson's mistake. he should have passed out to Lindelof on the right flank but he had tunnel vision and/or panicked.
patrickmuf: Hehehe Sinizia or Afrodoc2 should manage the team. I'll have Larride as the GK...It's a pity we don't have Kagawa10 here because that guy is a midfielder per excellence...Van De Beek and De Jong rolled in one.
Sinizia can manage the team. Na Ed Woodward job i want. I keep my job, earn millions in salary plus stock options.....no matter how much i phuck up.
Last last i sack Sinizia and appoint Kagawa10 even though na me phuck up go buy Weedtaker as midfielder. Better gig.
raumdeuter: During the endsars riot, I posted that even Buhari no sabi wetin dey happen for his own state and has no control over it, not even in control of his own family, How do you expect him to worry about what is happening in Lagos or the South. The level wey Buhari dey now, If you like kidnap 100M people, e no concern am
500 children from his own state miss just like that and baba dey supervise cows parade
500 children o. Not 500 pieces of meat. Full grown human being.
I was listening to Fela on my way to work this morning and i nearly wept for Nigeria. The things he was complaining about in the 70s are now happening daily magnified by a thousand and multiplied by a million.
Then people said he was a troublemaker who was spoiling the youths.
PietroRick: there's the general idea that only a small percentage of youth players end up making it at big clubs.
But there has been a change in the manner with which big clubs approach youth recruitment and development lately, probably motivated by the crazy nature of the market these days.
I think that percentage may go up a bit in the coming years. The United academy recruitment has been aggressive, and we do look like we may have a few gems in there.
it's difficult to think most of it will end up being for nothing, with very little changing in terms of how many of them make it here.
You are right. The new policy is to recruit highly talented youngsters from all over Europe rather than just buying local.
elrony: As long as he can net goals even half chances
Haven't watched him tho, any striker's abilities apart from his finishing?
I have not seen any other unique skill. He is intelligent and does not force the issue unnecessarily though. However his passing, dribbling, movement, speed all appear average.
He can't play as a WF like Greenwood is currently playing. He has played as a CF and as a no10 but i think he would thrive more in a 4-4-1-1 as the support striker or in a 4-4-2 as part of a partnership. He does not have the vision IMO to play as a 10 especially with Forson, Hansen-Aroen, Iqbal and others in the system.
You are clearly a smart man but you should know lazy in football does not mean speed, pace or ability to clock high speed. How many sprints does Havertz make, how much distance does he cover, how often does he press or lead the press, so he a willing runner for the team, can he cover space for the team or track back effectively depending on the position he is playing . Those are the criteria to determine if a player is lazy or not.
They are debating work rate my guy go drop top speed stats. Only on Chelshit thread.
These boys are balling! I would like to see how they perform in the FA Youth cup though.
This is the best under-18 squad we have had in years. FA Youth Cup requires some luck as well as it is a knockout competition.
They might not have any obvious super talents like the Angel Gomes/Tahith Chong team but in terms of depth of talent across multiple positions and the ability to withstand 2,3,4 injuries this team is superior.
