75m +5m Euros.

Their improved bid is more than 80m Euros in total. Ornstein didn’t provide details.
If we get him, it had better work out. The difference between him and Rasmus is that he is not big and fast for nothing. He at least appears able to use his size and speed effectively.

The other crucial factor is that Mbeumo and Cunha will share the burden with him.

Safe for a few...I mean those who want Amorim to use a washed-up Casemiro, average Ugarte, injury-prone Mount, young Mainoo and inconsistent Bruno to finish in the top 4.
It is going to be a big challenge. That midfield dey scare me. I hope there is still money left after this Sesko bid. Even if it is to sign someone who has good physical and technical abilities on loan.

I don't understand where these clubs generate such valuations from?
90m?? what tf has he achieved??
also if the club have anything near this as budget for a striker, why did we not get Osihmen again undecided

This question only Orunmila can answer it.

They usually use those valuations for EPL clubs. EPL clubs are also not helping themselves by using it on one another.

Overinflated (not just inflated) prices. Scrubs going for 80m or more. Imagine what peak Romario would go for today.

The guy might want to overlook it on the premise that most of us Africans are paranoid and would hide our travelling plans till it was almost too late.

One of my friends, we went for his wedding engagement on Sunday and by Monday, the wife he engaged travelled to Canada; not for once did he even mention to us the wife was billed to travel anytime soon. Na when I call am on Monday he told me he was at the airport seeing his wife off; I was surprised but I just shrugged it off that it was just normal naija paranoia thingy.

So maybe the guy didn't read too much into the guy informing him late about his traveling plans, but the biggest mess up was not checking up on him even after spending years abroad.
They were not just friends but living together in the same house. Think of it. Someone that can live in your house and share food with you for 9 months and be planning to leave the country without telling you. All that time you guys are seated watching BBA and EPL he has his laptop on his legs quietly submitting visa applications.

That kind of person might not call you for 10 years sef once he leaves. The paranoia excuse will explain that as well. I am not saying that the guy that japa is right or wrong. I am saying that i am surprised that the friend in Nigeria is surprised. The writing was already on the wall.

You are right. Except the guy ended up in prison when he landed abroad, he has no reason not to have checked up on his guy after 3 years of travelling. Even if abroad rough for am, at least he should put call through to his G that was there for him when nobody else was.
The red flag wasn't him not calling him for 3 years. The red flag was much earlier when he informed him of his travel only the night before leaving the country.

Exactly...it's sad that this sort of things are still happening in Nigeria's commercial capital, what's the incentive to invest long-term when you have things like this happening on a regular.

It's a circular that's coming way too late...I can only imagine the anguish the persons that have properties in those places would be dealing with now.
Those estates no just rise up overnight like they do inside fairy tales. One can miss seeing 1 or 2 estates being built, or even 5 to 10, BUT 176?
The circular is very late. There are government officials who should be out on the field doing their jobs who prefer to sit at home or in their comfy offices.

Ugarte in particular hasnt looked great either under ETH, Amorim and obviously not at PSG. I just dont see the formation that will turn him into the powerhouse we need him to be.

He's tenacious but he lacks that robust physicality that Caicedo or Declan Rice have. He also doesnt progress the ball well either via passing or carrying. To me we've spent 60m on a 30m player.
Ugarte's shortcomings are not a surprise to me cos i predicted them. The hope now is that Amorim is good enough as a coacch to improve the players he met and that he and the management can add quality players.

Even 10% improvement across board will do wonders. We don't need any single player to suddenly improve by 50-100%.

We need a midfielder badly. Its actually an emergency.
I have been saying this for weeks. E get why i dey mention Baleba. That is why Amorim is not doing any experimenting or giving academy youth prospects exhibition minutes in midfield. All is doing is trying to get test the possible combinations to decide which 2 will work for him when the season starts.

At this stage i think Ugarte and Mainoo at CM is the way, and it is not good enough. Bruno can play up front with Mbeumo and Cunha. Zirkzee, Mount, Amad (when he is not at RWB), and Rasmus can help out.

The single move that can transform our season is a quality CM not a quality CF. Both are welcome but the CM is more critical.

Looking forward to see how JJ Gabriel performs next season. He plays like Neymar to me and, as a young player, there’s loads of room for growth and development.

His dad is definitely a problem. He could be the stumbling block to that kid’s success. Remember Shoretire and how they kept rushing him? Hope that mistake won’t be repeated. Hope we won’t bow to pressure and allow the boy to grow physically and mentally. He’s potentially a 100m pounds player.
Yeah. Shoretire's dad kept pressuring the club to play him above age groups. The guy was crushing it until he got to Under-18 at 14-15 and stagnated.

JJ's father has done the same thing. The difference is that JJ is a bigger talent and even last season at age 14 he made the Under-18 look easy. He played 72 mins in total and scored 3 goals. He still needs to get bigger though. I don't know why all our biggest talents lately have been relatively small in size (Greenwood and Mainoo being the exceptions).

I really don't understand how you turned my post into an agenda against Amorim. Preseason is ment to build fitness and give all travelling players chance to show what they can do, Amorim made 11 changes against West ham and 10 changes against Bournemouth. I questioned why he did not play Kone against Bournemouth and you made it an agenda. It is a stated truth here that highlights don't tell the true story, and i am one who doesn't hype a player based on that. How is watching Kone play a match to know if the highlights matches the talent an agenda or criticism of Amorim? I still believe Kone is a better midfielder and should be ahead of Collyer in the team, maybe seeing him in a real match would change my opinion time will tell...
1) I agree that Kone is more talented than Collyer. Might be way more talented sef. I also think one has to consider his physical development.

2) I didn't say or mean agenda against Amorim. Unless guilty conscience is catching you. grin

I meant an agenda to watch your favourite academy player. Someone like me my agenda this preseason is for Mount to be benched completely, and all his minutes should be given to Ethan Williams but i know a manager who is 2-3 months away from potential sack won't go to that extreme. He will balance minutes for those who can help him right now and those who might be more helpful in 6-12 months or even 2-3 years' time.

I have to believe he is making his decisions based on what he and his staff are seeing in training and in the gym. If things continue this way for months on end and the preferred players are playing rubbish, then i will join you to petition the club.

You can watch academy games if you want to see more of him and judge if he’s ready for first team. MUTV broadcasts them sometimes.

Kone might get some minutes this preseason though. I’ve seen clips of him training with the senior team and he’s looking sharp and strong.

You may not have to wait long to see him in Utd colors at the senior level.
The guy has changed from last season. Looking almost Mainoo's size and looking sharp.

In retrospect i think adding Lacey to the initial preseason list after he was injured most of last season was a mistake. They should have just allowed him to stay with the Under-21s this preseason and throughout the season.

This season's Under-18 squad is touted to be another really good one. With Chido not available to them i am not sure how many options they have at CF though.

So, at the end Osimhen moved to Galatasaray for 65m pounds and is earning 250k per week and other big clubs felt they could not afford him.

There is something they are not telling us about this move.

If he is being left out due to fitness concern, then that's fine. Me want to see him play and pre-season is a good avenue to give all players chance to stake their claim. I am sure a lot of fans also want to see him play
Fans wanting to see him play is secondary to his development. That is the point. Insisting on seeing him play when he might not be ready to bang with adult players consistently seems selfish to me. This guy was a scrawny African kid just a year ago. Let the nutritionists and physical therapists build him up first.
He is not Diego Leone who looks like either a middleweight boxer or a mob enforcer. Kone has the potential but if the coaching staff who see him every day decide to be patient with him, we should respect that a bit.

P.S Staking your claim in preseason starts from training and the gym room that the coaches see every day. This is what they consider before giving people minutes. This is why some academy players make the initial preseason list on week 1 but do not make the final list for the tour.

That midfield is still very dicey and if from training and the gym Amorim and his people decide that he is not ready yet, then the most important thing is for Amorim to use these minutes to rotate his 4-5 options until he is sure which of them will start against Arsenal. I believe Kone will make his appearance this preseason, but it can't be to the detriment of the 1st team selection process.

Is he also bring Fredericson, Mantato, Williams upto speed for the first team next season? Is Collyer even better than Kone? Two straight matches and Kone didn't get to play as a sub, Amorim should give him playing time make some of us see how good or bad he is..
Like i said earlier preseason is not meant mainly to show fans who is good or bad. That is secondary. The main goal is to get players ready for the season and for the coaching staff to see who is ready amongst the other players.

Williams would not have had any minutes as well if Cunha, Zirkzee, or Mbeumo were fit. Kone on the other hand is battling Case, Mainoo, Bruno, Ugarte, Collyer for minutes. I have read that the coaching staff have given him extra training sessions away from the rest of the team to build up his strength first.

The coaches have assessed him and believe he needs some extra strength and conditioning before getting minutes. His time will come and should not be at the detriment of getting minutes for those the coach believes can help the team right now.

Showing you how good he is should be secondary in the grand scheme of things. It is the coaching staff that will determine when he is ready.

he put himself about though. I think he's played with a heightened sense of urgency so far this preseason.
Leon had one of such as well.
patterns of play still break down but not as quickly as we've being seeing.
let's see as fitness levels continue to rise.
hopefully we add someone explosive in the middle.
Leon is a project player and a teenager. Ugarte is an expensive buy in his mid 20s that is meant to be a starter.

Leon is a WB and will have more space, so his touch won't be as big of an issue immediately. Ugarte will be playing in the most crowded area of the pitch.

Leon's mistake didn't lead to us conceding a goal. Ugarte's did.

He has been playing well this preseason, but he has 2 major issues that urgently need addressing or else it will never work for him in the EPL as a CM. His inconsistent touch and his tunnel vision. It is tunnel vision that makes him hold on to the ball for too long and get dispossessed OR not release the ball on time when running with it on a counter. He just can't see the pass to make.

Amorim should give Kone a chance to show us how good or bad a player he is. Keeping on the bench for pre-season games makes no sense.
The most important thing in the preseason is for the manager to get the 1st team players up to speed and unfortunately for Kone that midfield is already choked with players Amorim needs to give minutes to get them up to speed before Kone. Showing us his level is less important than showing the manager (and he gets to do that in training every day against the senior pros).

He will get his chance when they feel he is ready. The coaching staff are seeing him in training on a daily basis and most likely have an idea where he is at. Bruno, Mainoo, Collyer, Ugarte, Casemiro need those minutes more but i believe Kone will get some minutes in the next couple of games.

I think they made the right choice for his career. At his age he needs game time to develop further. Back up keepers don't get any minutes which is why they often remain backups permanently.

If they have determined that he is not ready to compete for the starting position the best thing is a loan deal.
