And nobody is saying Delap is this generational world class talent, but to now pretend we were not after him is quite disingenuous. Meanwhile see as PSG pieces that Inter bus parking defense. You park bus and you still concede empty net tap in. |

patrickmuf: You are getting it wrong. Adisa made reference to Delap as if to say we could not sign one of our targets or rather that he rejected us which is why I responded that if it was a problem of money then we wouldn't be after Cunha who cost twice Delap's fee and if it was a case of we not being able to attract players, then Cunha is obviously the better player yet it is close to joining us.
The point is that if we wanted Delap, we'd have activated the release clause; his deciding to come or not is the issue. It is not only about money. Nobody is saying we can't afford him. There is a price to pay for not making the Champion's League. It will be a bit more difficult to convince some players to join us. Some other players would not mind especially if they get bloated salaries. |

The point is that if we wanted Delap, we'd have activated the release clause; his deciding to come or not is the issue. Chelsea wanted him but did not activate his release clause either at that time. This is because clubs were waiting for him to make his decision on which club he wanted to join. Now he has decided on Chelsea they can approach his club to activate the release clause. Now that he has decided against us, we are not approaching his club to activate his release clause. The reason neither Chelsea nor Man Utd activated his release clause since was because both clubs were waiting for him to make his decision on who he wanted to join. It was not because the clubs did not want him. Nobody is wasting time and effort activating the release clause of a player that does not want to join them.

patrickmuf: Well, he is not all that, so no biggie... I never said he was all that. Just correcting this revisionism that we were not interested in him. Nobody triggered his release clause not even the Chelsea that he is headed to now. It was because he himself put a hold to any talks, not because nobody was interested. |

patrickmuf: I know the decision rest on the player. If we were keen, we'd have also offered to pay the release clause. At least 30m is not in anyway close to the amount we are rumored to be paying for Cunha which means that if he was a priority signing, we'd have made the move since. Delap's people were not willing to enter detailed talks with any club until the Champion's League picture was clear. What is the point of triggering the release clause of a player that does not want to come to your club? That is why immediately Chelsea made the Champion's League, and we didn't, his people spread the news that he was only interested in Chelsea. |

Leyqute: Better touch. Yes. Better movement. Yes. Better reading of the game. Yes again. Better finishing. Absolutely.
At this point, it’s only logical that Obi replaces Hojlund in the pecking order— if the workload won’t be too much for him.
His first goal is a proper 9-in-the-box goal. I haven’t seen Hojludn do that in a while. He also read the game well for the second goal.
Shame they didn’t register him for Europa. He could’ve made a difference in that final.
Ultimately, we just need to keep building up these young talents. They have to make a very crucial decision next season on what to do with him cos he needs game time to develop. He is only 17 so does he play another Under-21 season and get minutes here and there with the senior team or does he go on loan? What they must not do though is repeat the last 3 months of this season whereby he was just sitting on the first team bench and was not playing regular youth game either. |

Leyqute: The opposition wasn’t EPL standard tho. But it’s quite mortifying that in spite of their lesser level, Hojlund played rubbish against them as usual. Chido Obi is already better than Rasmus. His touch is better. His movement is better. He reads the game better. His finishing is better. That is why i wanted him to play our last EPL games, but Amorim wanted to forcefully play Rasmus into form because he was our only CF in Europa. I blame the club for not registering Chido for Europa sha. |

BlueRayDick:

I will never forget that day's experience. Imagine watching TV without expecting much from the president's inaugural speech and u suddenly hear "Subsidy is gone" !
I dropped everything I was doing, took the car to go look for fuel because of the impending fuel scarcity that will follow the speech and I found out a lot of people were already out before me sef. Most filling stations already had queues while the ones still selling started closing their gates to hoard the old stock they have in order to sell at the new price.
Imagine government wey don give person that kind headache from its first day in office. I remember before it happened i was one of those arguing here that it should be delayed a bit because it would cause a lot of hardship, but many were asking for it. The one thing i would say though, which i have also said for a number of years here, is that the country was going to get phucked either way. Lee Kuan Yew himself would probably not be able to save this country. |

it is only the likes of warren buffet. even if you actually plan to grow the money rather than blow it, more likely than not you will gte the kingtom treatment - plenty of relatives with no actual business experience but one confam idea that will grow the money Yes, i was just talking about the calculation aspect all things being equal and assuming both make the decision to put the money in accounts to be yielding money. What would most likely happen though is that the 20yr old will blow the 5m lump sum one way or the other. It could be through investing in crypto, or playing venture capitalist, or being an international mentor, or being the problem solver of his family, clan, village, and friends. |

raumdeuter: I saw a question on Twitter
At age 20yrs, 5m at once or $1k per day for the next 30yrs The question is a bit sleek because 5m is 5m while 1k per day for 30yrs is nearly 11m. That is already a big gap. If we are to take it at face value though the 1k per day guy can make about 24.5m in a high interest account while the 5m guy will make 21.5m. If we are talking relatively comparable sums of money though, the lump sum guy should make more money every time. |

TemporaryHansel: Funny how Tinubu’s health suddenly did a 180 - No more trembling hands, no more “wet patches,” everything’s just magically fine now. You have to wonder: why didn’t he sort himself out before running for president? Are we seriously supposed to believe that a man of his wealth couldn’t afford the treatment earlier? Or is there some secret elite clinic that only opens its doors to sitting presidents? The problem was never officially acknowledged but like Ibime said it looked neurodegenerative and Parkinson-like. If he has moved from taking pills to having DBS surgery, a continuous infusion, or even experimental stem cell therapy it could explain the dramatic improvement. Also, the stress of electioneering and not having time to treat himself or even rest could have made the symptoms worse than they should have been at that time. Allegedly. |

Leyqute: The two of them are very similar. Delap looks more or less like Hojlund just before we bought him— unproven but decent potential.
The difference is the price. Hojlund’s was a rip off while 30m for Delap doesn’t look that bad. Hindsight will always be 20/20 I am talking about the eye test and not the stats. Delap is stronger and holds up the play better. His touch looks better as well. He is also half the price of Rasmus. Even if he flops it will be a 35m mistake not a 75m one. Ideally, we need a more established no 9 but i am not sure the obvious options will come to us now with no UCL football. |
