coogar: what is AGE?
the same di maria cannot even start a game since LVG tweaked the formation & went back to herrera & mata. daley blind in the LB position also offers a lot by causing an overload on the full back of our opponents. this was why the highly-rated fullbacks like emre can & kyle walker were reduced to zombies.
if we can get any of reus, lacazette or gundogan, we would win the premier league next season.
elampiro would definitely dump rooney for lacazette. lacazette = bale + lukaku + RVP rolled in one. I have known lacazette for about 5 years since he was a teenager, i am a bit suspicious of this sudden hype. we have to remember it is the French Ligue 1. i have not really seen him this season though, has he gotten that good really? i remember djibril cisse and olivier giroud |

coogar: that's not the point...... are we playing better because rooney is leading the attack or we are playing better cos of the technicians in the midfield?
you mean you have suddenly forgotten how you ridiculed the idea of herrera & mata playing in the midfield? you had a month-long argument with sailorXY......stressing how only pawa guarantees victory in the midfield.
just to buttress your point, you cited the usage of zouma in chelsea's midfield to tame spurs in the cup final. it was however a surprise when mata & herrera(players you deemed as featherweights) destroyed spurs with a bigger scoreline and without resorting to jam-body tactics of using a pawaful destroyer.
elampawa - guilty or not guilty.
i think RVP still have a lot to give. the only problem is his pace - he still has a better technique than any of our strikers. he could still be a decent squad player.
cavani misses more than he scores - i don't see the hype at all. i wouldn't really mind lacazette or dybala - bring back hernandez and that's a core attack unit of youth & experience.
he would use 4-3-3. after this season, he has no more excuse now. he would have a long transfer window and he has now had the time to assess the whole squad. woodward has promised another £150m so LVG must deliver next season. I believe he will go with 4-3-3 too. I say cavani won't be a step backwards because of how poor falcao and rvp have been not really because of how highly i rate cavani. in my opinion i think we need to offload those 2 old men and get just one striker. most of the work to be done is in midfield and defense i.e hummels, clyne, khedira, pogba, bale, reus, depay e.t.c |

coogar: i give it to you, you are consistent. what about the fortune teller that told us unless we have a pawaful jones or rooney in the midfield, we would never make the top four.
rooney is unmovable his contract, age, image, etc guarantees that he would retire at OT. he has signed the rest of his life to man utd but i agree with the general sentiments here.
we need a boost of youthful energy in the attack. i heard cavani is LVG's favourite but i am not really sure of cavani's ability. all of a sudden, there's scarcity of top quality centre forwards in the world. The Serie A is suspect so any world class performances there have to be taken with a pinch of salt. cavani hasnt really set the French ligue alight but playing in unusual positions most of the time wouldnt have helped. having said that, if we offload RVP and Falcao and get Cavani it wont be a step backward. THE FIRST STEP HOWEVER IS THAT LVG HAS TO BE SURE IN HIS MIND WHAT FORMATION WILL BE OUR REGULAR FORMATION NEXT SEASONThen he can acquire or let go players based on that formation |

coogar: this is hilarious.
real madrid fans are the worst fans ever.
but is van persie over the hill? the new system would benefit any striker - what makes it work is the triangle on both flanks on the pitch & the ball retention of mata, herrera, carrick.
has rooney really fired since LVG found this system? apart from the goal against spurs, rooney hasn't scored as the arrow head. when he scored against villa, he was operating behind falcao......and he was the worst player at anfield.
since VP got injured, rooney has scored only 2 league goals in as many as 400 league minutes. i think we should be careful on how we handle this. VP can still be a wonderful squad player even if he cannot be a guaranteed starter anymore. In an earlier post some months ago i stated how in the best scenario for me we would have rooney,RVP and falcao ALL gone next season. however if we are to have one remain for next season, it should be rooney. he is younger, has a better fitness/injury record, more versatile and he is English plus he is captain. What i would HATE to see next season is more than one of those 3 in the squad. |

That is great news. The sooner we part ways with deadweight like Falcao et al the better. Falcao is finished and RVP is on the way to being finished also. Clear out the attack leaving maybe Rooney and get a younger and more athletic supporting cast next season |

elampiro: Varane is amateur. We cannot afford another amateur in our team.
Is Nicolás Otamendi really good? sadly enough i see your point that varane still has a lot to learn. anyways the signs are that varane stays at madrid or moves to chelsea while hummels stays at dortmund or moves to united. |

elampiro: Varane is amateur. We cannot afford another amateur in our team.
Is Nicolás Otamendi really good? I will take Hummels ahead of Otamendi. It seems we are getting hummels anyway.....not too bad just wish he was quicker and a lil more physical. coogar: i think smalling would compensate him. vidic was never quick too even in his prime. hummels is a wonderful ball playing central defender. smalling would sit & let hummels carry it forward. however, if smalling improves his run from deep & doesn't panic when he crosses the half way line then we can overlook hummels & godin should be our target. smalling & jones would have improved massively had they gone to other clubs - SAF & moyes really stunted their growth playing them as RBs. i won't buy anybody from atletico. their success seems to me to be too dependent on the schemes and tactics of their manager. put most of those defenders and DMs in another system and they might falter. |

I agree with Hargreaves. i will take varane ahead of hummels. hummels is appearing slower by the day already. if it was just about composure and leadership we would still have vida or rio in the team, we need someone who want be lacking for pace |

coogar: but cleverley did this.
https://i.minus.com/ibfkbkm6DcE9NO.gif
if he's a sideways & backwards passer like many are claiming here, he wouldn't have thought of this - he would have passed the ball back to joe hart. This is why i had to give up on Cleverley. The major problem was not that Cleverley was unable to pass the ball forward but that he appeared to be UNWILLING to pass it forward. He became too timid to take chances, and fortune favors the brave |

Nihilist: You are the one that needs brighter grammar.
Martin Skrtel has 90.5% pass accuracy in the league this season....He is a better passer than David Silva
John Terry has 89.6% pass accuracy in the league this season...He is a better passer than Fabregas
Afrodoc please give this guy two shots of Jegaquin stat! lol, are you implying that Coogar has a case if Orubebeitis or Orubemyopia? : Cleverley lost confidence and became more and more timid as the years progressed. Herrera has not show me yet that he is such a special passer of the ball, he is a good passer.....but thats just it,nothing special for now. I can't categorically say one is a better passer than the other FOR NOW......I need to see more of Herrera |

coogar: we will smash city & arsënal at OT. chelsea is the only doubt in the list of fixtures we have left. we are so difficult to beat these days & this new tactical approach is working wonders.
if only LVG had a full preseason to sort his squad, we would be in high heaven by now. look at this stat since the summer transfer window. I agree the abridged preseason affected him but LVG has to take a chunk of the blame esp with his prolonged experiment with a back 3. He badly misjudged the speed of the EPL and the tenacity of even the small teams. Unless you have Hierro,Sammer and Beckenbaur playing at the back that formation is unlikely to work over an extended period in the EPL. |

PietroRico: Football sha.
Imagine our reaction if someone had told us at this point last season that in 1 year, young and fellaini would be keeping dimaria and falcao on the bench in a manchester united team.
It won't come as a surprise when hummels and the likes finally arrive and they're unable to get ahead of jonny evans. LOL that is football. Hummels appears to be an upgrade on what we have, but you never can tell. He is likely to have problems with pace and fitness, those are my concerns. |

dopeJemi: Don't you think his big name will create this fear factor if he starts? Actual performance on the pitch is more important than "big name", if not we should be starting Falcao and RVP in every match. Continue with this winning line up until Di Maria either steps up in consistency or someone loses form. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 5:40pm On Apr 04, 2015 |
dopeJemi: True that.. Do you think he will start against man-city? Nope. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Smalling can come in to take his shirt from Rojo, otherwise it should be the same 11. We are more solid in midfield with our current starters and have better control of matches, Di Maria should be coming on from the bench until a starter loses form or Di Maria improves his game especially the consistency of his passing and his decision making. |

If Ikedia didnt have the skills, you would see him trying to run and outpace his marker. You dont develop skills at old age. Anything you couldn't get in your teenage years- forget it. elampiro: Secondary school players do Mercenary na. You no play ball? Footballers develop faster.
Sylvanus Ebiaku, Karimu Shuaibu and some other guys were leaving school to travel to represent teams which hired players. Ebiaku was already travelling when he was in JSS 3 or so. He is built like a boxer (a Phil Jones kind of power player), that you would think he was 5 years older than his age.But I was his senior. These guys took all the risk and we thought they were senseless them. They werent the most skillful, may be the most determined and those whose parents gave them all the freedom. Also they were motivated with the fact that many Auchi players were beginning to break into top clubs in Nigeria- like Alex Jebba who played with Gabros and later won the FA cup with Begers (injury plague him too and eneded his career prematurely) . The Ebiaku guy did his appendicitis and in a few days he was already playing and we were shouting if he wanted to kill himself.
Ebiaku played for Keshi's Flying Eagles with his real age. I think that slowed his career. He was again invited when Keshi took over Eagles but he couldnt make it into the final squad for preparation for AFCON 2013.
Except you are sure or know someone very well, don't guess his age. Ikedia was playing mercenary for his secondary school after leaving school |

You argue in a very very funny and basic manner. Ikedia had pace and i earlier said he could dribble unlike Tijani. My difference with you is that you said it was pace that stopped him being great. Then later you changed mouth that it was devil injury. The truth is that Ikedia lacked intelligence on the pitch, that is what killed him.....he never utilized the ball effectively despite all his moves. |
