During trial the defendants lawyer supposed to hv done the needful..

You see the Afoloyan has no moral right to detain another person's property permanently, he can only detain the cattle till the police force is able to register the incident. He broke the law simple.

The gravity of the judgement is another matter but that is the judge's prerogative
I'll like to read the judge's concluding statement

I read it somewhere that this wasn't the first time this man's farm was destroyed and he once took them to court but nothing happened!
Here is a man that prolly got frustrated trying to get justice. Too bad he took laws into his hands this time. But let's be real, if he had sought redress in court, he would have lost. I believe the Abdullahi only went to court because the man had armed guards.

Like you rightly pointed out however, I hope Afolayan drags Abdullahi's @ss to court and claim damages as well.

Frustration is not a good reason for breaking the law. we have several levels within the judiciary if you don't get justice here try an higher level, ensure you have adequate evidence. Nothing stops him from equipping his farm with fencing or camera systems or adequate security to prevent such.

I live in Ireland and deal with farmer frequently who have cameras and sensors on their different farms because of theft or vandalism; there was a case of a farmer sometime ago who shot a thief on his land and went to jail he almost lost everything I think he got 4 years

Now I think something is wrong here....

No-one addressed his loses BUT he took laws into his hands.
Force doesn't win all the time.

One commissioner of police under Governor Lam Adeshina once lamented on the fulani situation - on the difficulties experienced arresting them as they are always on the move. They commit crime and move somewhere else

The Jusge can not address his losses because that is outside the suite. The case is based on the seizure and detention of cows 42 in number.

I don't get how Nigerians don't get simple legal concepts.

If my car runs into your car you have no legal right to seize my car or detain me, you are obliged to notify the police who would report the incident take note of who has broken the road use act of any , who is at fault and leave us to settle a civil matter.

It's a shame, really! North now using our Muslim brothers to fight us!

There is nothing north or Muslim about it. That is a very fair judgement in any court and any judge who doesn't give such a judgement in the face of such facts is compromised.

The Naval chief still has the right to sue Abdullahi for invasion of private land and damage to property (crops and farm) and win equal or greater compensation than this 9M.

This court was not asked to delibrate on the issue of farmland damage but the illegal detention of cows and the consequential loss of earnings as a result of said action

The owner of the cows went through a legal process to seek justice, and that's quite commendable. Quite certain he didn't choose the violent way because the ex naval chief also have armed guards at his disposal.

Now the farm owner can sue for the damages done to his farmland. Let's see how the court handles that.
Here's the first piece of farmer-cattleherder dispute that didn't end in bloodshed. Nice!

Thank you for this piece, similar to my response too, so many people who claim to be educated and learned you find out subscribe to anarchy and brigandage.

The Afoloyan man has no right to permanently detain property. He could have detained the said cows raised the attention of the police who would them file a criminal suite for destruction of property, if that is not forthcoming he could have filed a civil suite and added the NPF as respondents having failed in their duty but he took laws into his own hands and got burnt.

He can still file a civil suite for destruction of property if he has adequate evidence

What kind of bias judgement is this?

It's a fair judgement, the judge was not asked to delibrate on the issue of a herd of cows causing damage to his farm but his illegal seizure of cows.

The Afolayan man shld have sued the Abdullahi herdman for damage to property rather than illegal detention of his property (cows)
Nothing stops him from still suing the Abdullahi to court and winning the case

A damn insult to the collective rights and will of the people of Benue state if Dan Ali truly made such a statement.

I must confess Buhari shld never have ventured into politics because his legacy is forever destroyed by his incompetent and his inability to keep his dogs on a leash.

How can Buhari bẹ present and a ridiculous statement be made without him correcting such absurdity.

It's all politricks at this stage, I'll advice he recontest and finish the 4 years leaving the bulk of his power and responsibilities to Osinbajo he'll need to get rid of Daura and co who have damaged his reputation.

EFCC do not need to dispute her claims verbally , they just need to implement professional financial investigation and audit.

where is the memo and letter used to approve such payments are they correctly signed following legal process and constitutional procedures.

-Is the letter doctored or fake ?

They need to investigate all parties inviting them for an interview

They shld keep off the pages of newspapers, the EFCC communications officer shld handle the agency with more seriousness and bring a could of intrigue into the unit

Low level yahoo boys and civil cases shld be left to the a newly established and adequately trained digital fraud unit of the NPF

Wallade:
I got this information today and I would like you to read it too. You can get a copy of the National Grazing Reserve Council Bill, read and share your opinion about it:

I decided to read a copy of the National Grazing Reserve Council Bill and I was surprised at what I saw.
The Bill creates a council to be chaired by a Chairman to be appointed by the president. The council shall have the power to take your land anywhere the land is located in the country and then pay you compensation.

Your land, when taken, shall be assigned to herdsmen who shall use your land for grazing purposes. They shall bring cows to the land and you shall lose the land permanently to those Fulani cattlemen.
If you feel that the council was not right to take your land, you can go to court but before you go to court, you must first of all notify the federal attorney general of your intention to sue the council. Apart from notifying, you must get the consent and authority of the Federal Attorney General before you can sue.
So that means that if the Attorney General refuses to give his consent to the suit, you have lost your land forever to the herdsmen. And this law, when passed, shall apply to the whole country so it means that your land in the village or anywhere is not safe.

The National Grazing Reserve Council would have the power to take away your land from you anytime they want and pay you whatever they want as compensation (even when you don't want to sell, and remember that for you to get compensation, you must have documents showing or proving ownership).
So I think that we all in the South West, South South and South East must rise up and reject this Bill. We must do all things to force our national Assembly members from passing that bill into law.
That bill is a deliberate attempt to take our lands and hand the land over to the Fulani cattlemen since it is only the fulanis that rear cattle in Nigeria.

That law, when passed, shall fulfil the directive of Uthman Dan Fodio and other northern leaders to take over other parts of Nigeria. I implore you to use all available means to implore your senator and Rep not to pass that law. That law will destroy Nigeria.

All over the world, ranches are established and used to rear cattle. The farmers buy land and put there cattle there. There is no country where the land of the citizens are compulsorily acquired and given to others.
We must resist the passage of that bill into law to save Nigeria, and to protect our future generations.
Please share this piece until it goes viral. We must defend our land and protect our children.

Source: Dr. Austin Monye (UNIBEN)

Why haven't you attached a copy of the original bill here for us to read.

How did the CAN chairman no they are FULANI? Or is it any arm robbery attack now is from a FULANI man? undecided

From the whole piece is it obvious the editor wanted this tale to have a villain to match the sentiments of time.

In the first case of the CAN president given he was at a reasonable distance to the attackers and moving at pace quick enough to escape their grasp while panicked it would be absolutely impossible for him to identify the attackers as Fulani herdsmen without having dialogued with them or known them previously.
The attackers are the same bunch who have been responsible for kidnapping/theft along that axis including the Kaduna Abuja road etc for some time now ; some are Fulani many are ex BH fighters who fled the NE they however could have been Yoruba , Igbo, Ijaw , Hausa or Nupe etc nobody knows and the CAN leader shld know better than to tell a lie by claiming he is certain they are Fulani.

The second incident clearly makes it known the attackers were sponsored by the governor of Kogi State or it's unrepentant Senator

Kaduna Dry Sea Port. What It Means And ulterior Motive.

first let us look what is dry port.

A dry port (sometimes inland port) is an inland intermodal terminal directly connected by road or rail to a seaport and operating as a centre for the transshipment of sea cargo to inland destinations.

since the federal government already grant it approval and inspection to operate fully as a port.

this means that all shipment to Kaduna dry port would only transit from Lagos seaport without tax clearance or inspection.

all cargos that's is meant for kaduna would move freely through rail or by road. and can only be inspect in kaduna. and there are already public suspicion of ulterior motive. and fear of cargos that are already moving to kaduna and the continued releases of boko haram members.

there is even public risk and fear of diversion of cargos.

the history, names, photo or identity of those release are not known, also we shouldn't forget the release of Christmas day bomber kabiru sokoto, the mastermind of St. Theresa's Catholic Church Madalla Niger State in 2011.

lastmessenger:
Sometimes I wonder why it is so difficult for these herder's to embrace the modern method of cattle rearing instead of wondering about the whole country destroying farmlands which in turn results to unnecessary clash.
This herdsmen issue can only be solved by a serious government who Will put its feet on the ground and say enough is enough. If you don't own a ranch, then you are not allowed to rear cows. But this present administration has proven beyond reasonable doubt that they are not different from the nomadic herders themselves.

The Fulani herdsmen are a minor part of this equation , beyond invasion of farmland and damage to crops and infrequent assault that has been reported they are blameless.

However any attempt to establish modern husbandry standards is capital intensive, a lot of land is required a lot of water is required and a lot of money is what would fulfill that. This is where the rich cattle owners come in

The rich magnates who own the cattle should be brought to book as it is certain they are the ones who pay for the massacres , many of the herdsmen are innocent of the massacres, most don't know how it is organised / if something is not done by the FG and state governments of Adamawa their people may suffer the same faith as that of Benue in the future due to reprisals attacks.

Many of the herdmen are just offering a service of herding cattle that does not belong to them if they loose any cattle they must make account with the owner who then pays the militia to atfack a place.

The myheti group and cattle owners need to be questioned

Merc are about to start making a killing on this car has usual. The base model G300 I believe would go for €100k I read somewhere.

Still an overpriced vehicle for what it's worth, keeps its value rather very well also.

Merc have done a decent job to clean up the interior, the designers have either been lazy or are geniuses dependent on what your opinion of the G wagon is.

Many of the G wagons flaws have been removed while others remain like the small rear window further blocked by the spare tire. The ride quality would without a doubt be better but it's still a tall boxy SUV cornering would forever be dreadful

If we must talk about value for money, then we better drift away from luxury cars and go electric. All the cars we mentioned zap fuel, maintenance costs are on the extreme, not to talk of the cost of ownership.

No money spent on a Mercedes-Benz car is a waste.
Do you know what it means to have the prestigious three pointed star in your garage? That Gwagon is on a different league of its own. It doesn't have to be aesthetically beautiful to command such a high price tag.

What is Range? You should have mentioned Bentley Bentayga instead.

Talking about old draconian car, do you know how much a 1953 Ferrari cost?

You are speaking of prestige I'm speaking of value for money, convenience with respect to modern technology in a vehicle for $163k.

Did you not read the part where I mentioned I'd rather have a range sport HSE + AMG GT for the same price of 1 G wagon.

Please don't go around telling real petrol heads a G wagon is the height of vehicular excellence.

I'll be also daft to buy a bentyaga unless I'm a billionaire. That's a mass produced 300k SUV which would be worth less than 80k in 10 years a terrible depreciating investment. I'll take a bullet proof escalade with executive trim for that price thanks
