Since the law was recently amended and signed it cannot be enforced now until after 2027 election.
The law has been as stated since circa 2013 under the GEJ government when he signed an electoral act into law. There have been two electoral acts since then for the 2015,2019 and 2023 elections

PoliticsRe: Soludo's Aide, Opara Blasts Peter Obi Over Remarks On Nnamdi Kanu's Detention by Afrojuju2017(m): 10:28am On Jun 15
AMINDA:
Sunday Igboho did same but Tinubu has granted him pardon while he's now a member of the APC campaigning for Tinubu's re-election. Isn't that favoritism and tribalism in display? Even Waziri Atiku Abubakar will free Nnamdi Kanu on his first day in office because we can't have different punishments for the same offences.
Sunday Igboho was never convicted so can not be granted a pardon. He was never even charged to any court by the Buhari adminstration even in absentia.
The Tinubu government has simply decided they'll not go after him for no good reason.
Also at no point has Sunday Igboho declared or instigated violence against the Nigerian state which is what Kanu has been convicted for. Many didn't even watch the judgement which was televised and aster over 2hrs, justice Omotosho was very detailed and read the charges at lenght which Kanu refused to present a defence and therefore voided his right of innocence.

our biggest problem as a nation at the moment is division. the truth is that we don't love ourselves, our hate to each other is something else and our unity at stake. this entity called Nigeria is a forced marriage and we cannot continue like this; something must change. NIGERIA, STOP THE PRETENSE!!!
This is about crime not hate unity BS. Why is there a large number of individuals from a particular region embroiled in drugs smuggling, I'd say from the information I've received in the past this may be a relatively small number compared to the likes of Malaysia, India Thailand even Gabon have large number of prisoners

For every Nigerian incarcerated abroad, there are millions of Nigerians living honest, productive, law-abiding lives across the world.

So let's not focus on the number in isolation. That's the media creating a bias in you.

The fact is that the overwhelming majority of Nigerians are decent people contributing positively to their communities and host countries.
But the numbers and the concentration should cause panic , remember this is just one of the nations with large number of incarcerated, India, Malaysia, Thailand , Lybia, Tunisia, Morocco just among a few. There is something that must be addressed

The overwhelming number are from a particular region and the ministry must do well to analyse each prisoner and complete a document for the crimes otherwise the Nigerian state may be exposed to international sophisticated criminals.

There is a serious issue of minor physical abuse from the SE and SS. This is a very severe issue that the Nigerian ministry that should be responsible for protection of minors under the care of individuals who are not their birth parents need to be alert to.

The Nigerian state should have a profile of crimes and if there is an escalation of a particular type of grievous offence; they should do something about if from sensitisation to handing down strong legal punishments.

Rather pointless, the bandits are within the forested interior, it's already known they have network of well established camps stretching from the Oyo reservation through Osun, Ondo , Kogi Kwara, Niger , Benue and northern Edo.

There is no reason to deploy a large number of military personnel in Oyo more the 21days after the kids had been held captive.
This is PR to try convince the population they are doing something but it's in bad taste, they need specialist intelligence operations and specialist hostage negotiators.

Unless they have confident information that the bandits are still within the area and they want to restrict them from moving on from the area this mobilisation is pointless

He's very sensible and that statistics is a fraudulent one. Why will you compare a less than one year term to two full year term. Is this what The Guardian newspaper has been reduced to? How do you people even sleep at night??!

We did not borrow in Naira but USD. Also was Naira 1380NGN to 1 USD during Buhari's tenure? As at May 2023, Naira was around 500NGN to 1USD which makes PMB's borrowing to be around NGN16trn as at May 2023 when he handed over to PBAT!

PMB borrowed and at least we had N-Power, a more stable Naira, a stable fuel price, greater gain in Agriculture, more visible projects, lesser tribalism, stronger international reputation. What has PBAT, the first class Accountant done with his own loan? PMB is better than this current disaster in nearly every indices!

Don't cite white elephant projects please, because Nigeria has never had it this bad!

CrimeRe: Bandits Kidnap 50 Zamfara Elders On Reconciliation Mission by Afrojuju2017(m): 4:51pm On Jun 08
Brendaniel:
Some people seem not to still get it, there are 2 major reasons why I gave up on the unity of Nigeria:

1. The Islamic northern ideology

2. The tribal south western ideology

Most of the problems and insecurity you see today in Nigeria is as a result of the 2 listed ideologies above, as long as these 2 ideologies are carried by these 2 sets of people, I doubt Nigeria will ever make progress the way it should, why it is more prevalent since 2015 is because these 2 sets of group got into explicit partnership for the first time since after the civil war in a democratic settings, so there was no military ideology or intervention to water down or restrain their ideological agendas, so it's like a free bazaar of ideological display, sadly this is what they call sophisticated politics which is destroying the country.

The PDP government tried to to manage them, reason why they ended up hating PDP as a party so much because the founding fathers of PDP like OBJ were more nationalistic in ideology, the very bad part of it is that the partnership of these 2 regions did in order to achieve religious and tribal supremacy over others is hurting and backfiring on them so badly because it all stems from injustice and hatred.

But somehow it looks like some of them are very comfortable and satisfied with it as long as they believe they are achieving their supremacy agenda, That was why it looked like Buharis hands were tied for 8 years in solving these issues and now Tinubu is towing the same path.
Just nonsensical nonsense yet the mods would pretend not to see this as offensive

I think why the Police were swift in rescuing the Adelabu Sister and her twin sons is because the kidnappers live within the city/town unlike the other monsters that live in thick forests, and always moving their victims from one forest in one state to another. My thinking undecided

But then, our forests should not be allowed to be a hiding place for criminals, kidnappers and terrorists, Nigeria need to take over our forests by all means.

Well done NPF
This kidnapping was done within the city and if anyone knows Ibadan well it's adequately developed enough and strangers are usually easily noted, IB people can he silent busy bodies . Also I think these are not bandits or BH terrorists these are just bottom of the barrel criminals.

HealthRe: Outrage As Google Plans To Release 64 Million Bacteria-infected Mosquitoes. by Afrojuju2017(m): 7:56am On Jun 04
I don't understand the outrage over this particular line of proven and already well advanced mosquito programme that has been going on for years.

In Europe malaria carrying mosquito populations have been devastedd by this particular program to essentially disrupt the reproductive cycle of the mosquitos

My concerns about it is the ecological and unknown biological consequences on the ecosystem including human effects of the bacteria.
Mosquito are a on the food hierarchy and are the primary prey of many insects, fish and amphibians so this could have been serious consequences if the population of mosquito are adversely impacted.

And Google as a private hyper capitalist entity should not be involved in this programme as they are this should be controlled by the appropriate federal authority.

I do believe the APC internationally orchestrated this primaries to demonstrate strength and discourage their competition, if the opposition conduct a direct primary they'll be made to look stupid, this was also a test of allegiance for major party players are all competing to show the president they are on ground

If Nigeria remains as it is then any one who chooses to practice Islam and wants to be buried according to Islamic rites as guaranteed within the freedom of expression of our constitution can be buried in Anambra.

So the idea that burials must be restricted to Saturdays only then conflicts with the freedom of reasonable expression, what the state can do is limit the disturbance to public activas a consequence of a burial proceeding

What's the poverty index of Nigeria, the metric for leadership and fiscal policy dissemination and it's attendant merits and demerits over a stretch of time?

Take your timeline from the inception of this administration till date against the background of it's predecessors.

Plot the economic ascendancy of your principal on a curve with necessary parameters.

Leave me and balance sheet out of the matter, prove your metles.

Thanks.
Nigeria lacks accurate and reliable data on many if not all things.

In Nigeria we don't have a simple metric for births and deaths, never mind population concentrations.

We don't have a proper data for wages and employment, we don't know how many people are in full employment and wages, the home ownership and property register is even disfunctional and you are here telling me about poverty index.

Most data in Nigeria is to be taken with a pinch of salt including this Tinubu government. What I can believe are the fiscal policies which are at an higher level. Everything else is just based on poor calculations.

According to INEC we have 93m registered voters but anyone that has ever subjected it to reasonable analysis would know that is impossible

Obasanjo was a near failure as a president the delusion we have is because he came right after the khaki boys left, the biggest things ascribed to him were not even his own doing

Debt forgiveness was a pan African effort pioneered by Ghana but him and NOI erroneously get the praise in Nigeria

Mobile phones was don't by IBB and Abacha when they gave licenses for radios and mobile telecoms in the early 90s which have birth to the DAAR and AITs etc

And then you have his third term agenda that destroyed Nigeria till today, if not for OBJ third term agenda we may never have had Yar'adua who was sick and died in government, we would never hve and n incompetent Jonathan and a disinterested Buahri and surely Tinubu would most likely not have come as he did in 2023.

What is the poverty index of Nigeria now?

You "overeducated people" are always a big problem sometimes.
Evidently you don't know how modern economic models work, you must think running a country is similar to simple buying and selling container system.

I doubt you can even run your household balance sheet. I often observe friends and family to see how they utilise resources money time etc and the difference is what makes the wealthy different to the poor note I didn't use the word rich. Because it's not a function of money but rather of wealth

Oga, if not for tribal sentiments, with all that Tinubu has done in the last 3 years, given the situation Nigeria is in currently, why should he even vie for re-election?
Politically Tinubu has done marginally better than all Nigerian presidents
He hasn't impeached governors using 5 legislators
He hasn't sacked senate presidents abitratrily like
These are some of the sins of Obasanjo

He hasn't been inept like Jonathan, I don't even know where to start, I've not included Yar'adua because he never really got going

Buhari was indifferent and didn't do enough politically,

Economy wise Tinubu has done everything that is necessary to correct the rot in Nigeria, there is a lot yet to do that is beyond him because as s country there needs to be a national correction of mortality and standards.

So Tinubu compared to what we know has been heads and shoulders above the rest, I hope that God blesses us with much better in the future because Tinubu is flawed but he is human.

I can tell you about Tinubu errors and that list is long but none of them can be termed catastrophic.

Did they vote in 2023?

That's your check card.

President Tinubu's "victory gift" (to the masses who has done so much for the political elites since 1993 and beyond) on the eve of power shifting to the masses from the June 12 struggle was "instant subsidy removal", which is very good.

That's what we got for following the fight since the Epetedo declaration that we thought will change our parents ' lives and that of our own, yet here we are.

The first thing that got fixed by this administration was subsidy~ a support mechanism for productivity that helps the common man on the street buy food at cheaper rates.

I mean, it has never been a problem for this administration because it's never been in office before it's time, so other varieties of options original to this administration have not been tried.

So it's one man's final say damning the consequences. That's dictator approach to problem solving in high places.

A leader must be for the poor and the rich, and for the people who have been on the dream that a great day will surely come, and a sun will rise.

In reality all the poor will never be rich, your duty is to reach them with gift of kindness they can never repay, not food and stipends, but direct investment in per Capita development, programs target at people to change their lives in their lifetime that they can attest to.

Please, make life a paradise around them on a gradual progression, never postpone their joy till another indefinite time the moment your own day of joy comes.

By the way, our ancestors led when there was no infrastructure to become gods, how did they do it?

If God never denied you of your dreams, don't others who are least of your brethren, all because you wanted to build an "eldorado" for them.

May God comfort the poor and help the rich, may God give us leaders like himself.

Eni aye kan, saye re.
First thing to correct your ignorance
Fuel subsidy was removed the day the PIA act was signed into law in August 2021 Buhari then went in to borrow money using the supplementary budget the last of which covered subsidy payments between January 2023-June 2023.

So by law Tinubu didn't remove fuel subsidy his statement on inauguration was to indicate he didn't plan to seek a supplementary budget to cover payments between June 2023 going forward. It was political talk, it was directed at the elites and international stakeholders present i.e IMF, Investors etc

Fuel subsidy is it a support mechanisms for the poor as you have described, it has been concluded beyond doubt using economic research and social studies that fuel subsidy has a net negative effect on the cost of living of the poor people, because you get to buy fuel at 500naira less than the landing cost doesn't negate the big picture of what it cost you.
Fuel subsidy has robbed Nigerians development and impacted the lives of the people negatively.
Then there is the blatant theft therein with nonexistent product being subsidized, the transportation of products across west and east Africa, fuel subsidy was an elite capture and nothing more.

Fuel subsidy is poverty.
