PoliticsRe: Oyo Gov Election: Tinubu, Akala Meet, Discuss Partnership by afroniger:
Akala has the 5 local governments in Ogbomosho in his pocket so this is a smart move. I initially liked Seyi Makinde until I found out he's just too proud and arrogant for my liking. He will do worse than Ajimobi if he becomes governor. If APC/Akala alliance materializes then it's game over. Ibadan votes will definitely be split as usual while APC will take the rest.

PoliticsAPC Wins Ogun-west Senatorial District Election by afroniger(op): 9:31pm On Feb 26, 2019
https://punchng.com/apc-wins-ogun-west-senatorial-district-election/

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday declared Chief Tolu Odebiyi, the APC candidate, as the winner of Saturday’s poll for Ogun-West Senatorial seat.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Taofeek Shittu, at Oronna Hall Collation Centre in Ilaro, said Odebiyi won the election for the Ogun-West Senatorial seat, having polled the highest votes of 58,452.

Odebiyi’s closest rival, Mr Olusegun Gbeleyi of the Allied Peoples Movement, scored 48,611 votes, while Mr Leye Odunjo of the People’s Democratic Party came third with 43,454 votes.

INEC had on Sunday declared the state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, who contested on the platform of the APC, winner of the Ogun Central Senatorial seat.

Meanwhile, Odebiyi who was former Secretary to Ogun Government has dedicated his victory to ‘‘all those who have endured indignities but remained principled on behalf of the people of Ogun-West.

In a statement after he was declared winner on Tuesday, the senator-elect expressed gratitude to the people of Ogun West for the opportunity extended to him to serve.

‘‘I will continue to stand with you shoulder-to-shoulder in raising higher the flag of progress and prosperity for the people of Ogun West,’’ he said.

PoliticsRe: Believe It Or Not, Atiku Will Be The President-elect by afroniger: 3:52am On Feb 26, 2019
Lol. Eiya. This Op is finding it really difficult dealing with the agony of defeat. He must have invested heavy emotional capital in the 'Atikulated' project. Smh. Please take heart bro, Atiku has lost this one (again) and no America, EU, UN, Uk, of whatever can change that fact. But don't be too hard on yourself because you won't be the first Nigerian with a failed prophecy. cheesy Una plenty. Las Las you go dey alright though.

Let me correct an impression...APC won 6 Rep seats, 3 of which are from Amosun's faction of d party...plus d one from APM; making 4.

REPs
Tinubu's APC-3
Amosn's APC-4
ADC-1
PDP-1

SEN
Tinubu's APC 1
Amosn's APC 1

The 3rd, who is an ally of Amosun, is leading, but his election is still inconclusive.
Don't flatter yourself. Stop trying to change the narrative. Aside from Amosun himself, all his loyalists have all decamped to APM so there's nothing like 'Amosun's APC'. Those that refused to decamp to APM all turned their backs on him and chose instead to stay put in APC. That is the real situation of things.

That's a lie jor. Atiku was the worst option PDP could have used. I am a supporter of Buhari, but the fact is the story would have been different if the election was between Tanbuwal/obi and Buhari/osibanjo. But as usual, the PDP ticket went to the highest bidder as they were sharing dollars upanda. Forgetting that Atiku is a man with a massive question mark on his head.

You had Tanbuwal you had kwankwaso but you went for the highest bidder and now it's time to pay the price
I disagree. Maybe Tambuwal would have tried but nowhere compared to Atiku. Atiku was PDP's most sellable candidate because he already had an impressive political structure in the South and other parts of Nigeria, and was widely viewed as detribalised compared to the likes of Kwankwaso for example. Not to mention that he had the wherewithal to fund his ambition.

Amosun really messed up. So far APC has won 4 declared house of reps seats out of 9 in the state. He's just lucky that his gamble didn't cost Buhari the state the way Aketi's similar miscalculation cost APC in Ondo.
PoliticsRe: And Wike Said It O...... by afroniger: 2:51pm On Feb 25, 2019
But make we talk true, Atiku really tried in this election. And I doubt any other candidate would have shaken Buhari's popularity the way he did. He fought a good fight but in every battle there must be a winner and a loser. Atiku has lost this one.
PoliticsRe: #nigeriadecides2019: Tunji-ojo Trashes Akeredolu's AA To Win Reps Seat In Ondo by afroniger: 2:28pm On Feb 25, 2019
Akeredolu committed a big blunder by supporting AA candidates against his own party. In spite of this some APC candidates still won some seats in the state. Ditto Ogun. APC has already won 4 house of reps seats out of 9 declared so far in Ogun in spite of Amosun's APM. APC's abysmal showing in Ondo is a big disgrace and dent to Aketi's political leadership.

The embattled Ondo North Lawmaker and Senatorial Candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prof.Ajayi Boroffice has retained his seat at the Upper Chamber.

He emerged victorious after polling 53,199 to beat the Action Alliance (AA) candidate, Dr Tunji Abayomi with 43,100 and Mr Segun Alonge scoring 34,490.

Unconfirmed report said former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, may have lost the battle to represent Ondo Central senatorial district in the senate with the results being released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officers in some of the Local Government Areas that make up the district.

Although the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the state,Dr Rufus Akeju has not announced the results officially, reports from the six Local Government Areas of the central senatorial district showed PDP’s Ayo Akinyelure, who was at the Senate before he was defeated by incumbent Senator Tayo Alasoadura may likely take the seat.

Mimiko contested under the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) after he dropped his ambition to contest the presidential election under the Labour Party (LP).

The results of Ondo South senatorial district was yet to be announced as at press time but feelers said the candidate of the PDP, who is the former commissioner for Transport in Ondo state, Nicholas Tofowomo, was leading other contestants.

In Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency, the PDP candidate, Mr. Ikengboju Gboluga polled 31,042 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Albert Akintoye of the APC who polled 19,875 votes.

The result was announced by INEC Returning Officer in charge of the federal constituency, Prof Enuwo at Stella Maris College in Okitipupa.

INEC Returning officer Prof Taiwo Abraham declared the result at Oka-Akoko.

However, six House of Representatives seats are still awaiting official declaration by INEC Returning officers as at press time.

PoliticsMarwa Alleges Plan To Manipulate Election Results In Southeast, South South by afroniger(op): 5:20pm On Feb 24, 2019
A former governorship candidate in Adamawa State and chieftain of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen Buba Marwa (rtd), has alleged plans by the leading opposition party to manipulate the final result of the presidential election in the South-East and South-South regions of the country.

Marwa who spoke to newsmen in his Yola home on Thursday afternoon, said the plan was expected to be carried out in the night by unleashing violence with a view to tempering with election results.

Marwa, a leading supporter of President Muhammdu Buhari, urged security agencies to act swiftly, to forestall the intention as the electorate await the final outcome expected to confirm Buhari as the winner.

Marwa said, “There are plans of massive manipulation of results by the opposition in South-East and South-South through unleashing of violence tonight onward. The violence is with a view to tempering election results by using total registered voters instead of accredited voters to change final results.”

“We therefore urge security council and INEC to monitor this information very closely as we await the final outcome that would surely confirm President Buhari the winner.”

Marwa who is the chairman of Central Working Committee of the Women and Youth Campaign team of the APC, thanked the electorate for coming out en mass to vote the party in the presidential and National Assembly elections.
