Wait a second. . .are you trying to pull a fast one with that graph?? I just studied the darn thing and what the hell ![]() See me thinking we were talking electricity!! Even if this were a Truly a Power supply Trend analysis, it won't have made any difference. . .because I am sure I can find a graph that would show the same thing for months when supply was okay in the past.
No I wasn't, i was using that graph to explain a trend. I wanted to point out the fact that having a depreciation in end user experience may not affect the over trend. The reason for the graph was the straight line which represent a positive trend even in the presence negative points in 1983, 88/89 and 93. Those are years, we are talking about months here |

One minute they say bad dam design is the reason for poor power supply. . .have they fixed the dam? If they haven't fixed it how can power improve (This was what Kobo was STRESSING yesterday and for some reason. . .you chose to ignore it). Then in September 2011, they 80% of power project is complete. . .not long after that cities where plunged into darkness. Another month, we are celebration 96 hours of light. . .the month after we are wondering when we will ever see light. The Megawatts drop like it is a ping pong ball. . .one month it 4800, the month after it 3000. With all that in mind. . .WHAT THEN ARE WE CELEBRATING ON THIS THREAD?! 96hrs of light? Didn't we do that already. . .what did we have to show for it? ![]() Going back to my daughter's Analogy. . .all of that position under ONE LESSON TEACHER and you want me to pat her on the back because she did better today than she did last week? As if!!
First of all, all the links are referring to what the government said. Here we are debating what individual Nigerians have experienced. Those pronouncements are different from end users experience which is the basis of this thread. I earlier told you there are threads like this for May,2012, June, 2012 and then this one. Refer to the previous two and compare. Finally, did you deliberately decide to ignore the trend analysis view point? |
Well if that does not make any sense to you, then no problems. Lets watch and wait. |
Kobojunkie: You lied in your response. Re-read my post to understand how.No I did not lie kobo see this portion: As per the duration change I will explain with trend rather than overall stability. Look at the graph below. The graph shows a positive trend represented by the straight line which indicates an overall increase not minding the sharp reductions experienced at timesThe sharp reductions experienced as was also shown in the graph is the same as moving from 40th to 30th and then back to 36th. The trend has shown an increase. Before 6 months ago, it was more of a zig-zag graph but things have changed. The drops do not go back to 40th. Again since 6 months ago, it has managed to add to previous starts which is why we have the positive trend. |
as much as i actually enjoy reading the 'crucify Jona 'comments,i think we should at least give credit where due.I shuttle between Akwa Ibom,Cross River And Portharcourt.I must say that for the past three months,at those three different locations, light has been better than before.at least we have light sixteen hours a day as opposed to the former practice of no light for two to thhree days
This is another testimony for you Sis_kill and Ileke-idi who are asking if it will last? 16 hours daily for 3 months is not good enough but it is better than before |
Kobojunkie: If Child A consistently comes 40th out of 40 . . . but after coaching, and maybe counselling, improves to position 30, that is considered is a record-able, and verifiable improvement.Look at my reply above |
If my daughter has consistently come 40th out of 40th. . .then yes I would see 30th as improvement. However that is not the case here, power supply has been erratic. . .Good for 5 days, horrible for another 10, beyond horrible for another 20 then we have another 10 days of half current, 4 days quarter current, no current for 12 days and high current for 1 min (because all your bulb have exploded as a result) Let's even talk of the days where the current is at the highest, you have to shut everything off so you don't get electrocuted. So going back to the scenario with my daughter. . .If she has been all over the place with her results like the Power Supply, NO WAY IN HELL I will be applauding any change until it lasts longer than the all the previous changes.
I can say very well that prior to the middle of last year, it has been 40th out of 40 in most places. The difference now is that it is 30th out of 40 in most place. We have never had it 'so good' As per the duration change I will explain with trend rather than overall stability. Look at the graph below. The graph shows a positive trend represented by the straight line which indicates an overall increase not minding the sharp reductions experienced at times. The power supply for the last six months has assumed a positive trend. The average supply to end users has increased over all even though it has not remained stable all through at the desired level. That is what we are saying. Fortunately it has been a lot better recently. There was a thread like this in MAY, another in JUNE and now this one. The discussion has seen less decent with time. Look for the threads and you will see for yourself.
1. You're not even sure of what really caused the change. It could be the teacher, the student's motivation to learn, or the one-or-one interaction. 2. Learning the cause of the improvement could change a temporal change to a long-term change. Apply that analogy to this power improvement.
Both the effort of the teacher and the motivation from the mother is needed. The motivation here is the acknowledgement. From your answer, I guess you have inadvertently accepted there is an improvement. So you chose option A. Now answer the second question. Will you be happy? |
Who ever does not like it, should spare those who do. |
If they are jubilant then, of course I will be happy for them, what do I have to gain by not wanting good things for my brothers and sisters. However that is besides the point, which is and has always been. . .STOP CELEBRATING MEDIOCRITY!! DEMAND MORE FROM THE GOVT BECAUSE YOU DESERVE MORE!!! When people are jumping up and down with paper flutes and party hats because of three straight days of power supply (I don't care how bad it was before) why would the Government want to do more? Why put 100% when the can get the same reaction with an unsteady 25%?
We are not celebrating mediocrity. We are only happy there is a significant improvement where there was none. Assuming you have a daughter whose position has been 40th in a class of 40 and in the last exam her position changes from 40 to 30, because you changed her private teacher, what will be your assessment of her performance? A. Has Improved B. Has Not improved Will you be happy that something has changed or not? I am sure as a good parent you will tell her you have done better but this is not the destination. That is what we are saying. Power has shifted from last position. We are not celebrating it. We acknowledging what we have experienced. That is not a celebration of mediocrity. |
Exactly!! Why is this such a hard concept to grasps??!! ![]() I'm ready to put money down that in the next month or two, there will be a new HOW IS POWER SUPPLY IN YOUR AREA thread where majority of the respondents will be complaining about how they have not had light in days.
And if they are still jubilant what will happen? You.will start crying abi? |
Kobojunkie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_fartYou should also read what Wiki said about foul language and compare with your brain fart since you like using it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foul_language |
Kobojunkie: Stop trying to feed me your useless brain-farts.You should not resort to foul language. |
Kobojunkie: Let us compare this person's report with this same persons report from May 24, 2010It also shows that it has nothing to do with rainy season as some are saying. If there is trabsformer overload, you çan experience the later. I am talking from experience before my transformer was alleviated with a new one. Since then, it has been uhuru. |
Dotman01: its cos where in d rainy seasonwhat of those who have had power since January without issues? The only time they had hiccups was during the repair of Kainji leakage. |
Kobojunkie: Spare me the useless information. As if somehow your wuru-wuru logic there NEGATES what is published of the current situation in the area of power generation and transmission as of yesterday.Well then if it is wuru wuru to you it means you cannot comprehend it or you chose to call it so because you cannot fault the logic. If not tell me what is wuru wuru about it? |
Pataki: Here we go again. There has been several threads like this in times past. Where we are all in jubilation to ''improved'' power supply. OBJ did it several times, same old same old since 1980s.At least you agree something is happening albeit short term in your opinion |
proudly9ja: lool...Nigerians never learn. This is the same thing we discuss same period every year.If you search well you will see a thread like this created in october 2011, another in May 2012 and another in June 2012. There could be some between october and April. It is not the same time exactly. |
Kobojunkie: OMG . . I didn't even know this.??Read the entire post again. I posted before completion. |
To add to what I said above, new transmission lines are being erected. Anyone who left Umuahia before 2 months will be surprised if hë goes back. Why? New 132kva line from Aba completed few months ago has changed the power situation there. Not completely ok but it has been better. Another is running from PH through Mbaise. Another from Calabar or so. Go verify. Pls lets be positive for once. Someone talked about rainy season, I stand to say that this testimony started in october through January till April the peak of dry season before there was leakage in Kainji. |
Kobojunkie: What does POWER IS IMPROVING? mean? I can dig into the Nairaland archives, from as far back as 2010 to pull up threads such as this one for you. Of course people will FEEL that power is improving when they have more hours of electricity per day, however when you consider the facts, even an eejit will pause to rethink the statement that power is improving. There were two power problems 1. Inadequate generation 2. Grossly inadequate transmission. If onë above improves without 2 as we had in the past, the end users will not feel the effect. However if 2 improves while one goes down, the endusers will feel that power has improved if amount of depreciation in generation is less than or equal to the amount generated at time zero that was not distributed. We all know much of the 3900MW were not transmitted, so the premises upon which you base your cynism is flawed. |
