Please where did he get the form in APC that was written 001, except maybe they used biro in writing it or probably they have special forms for governors when they decamp!!!
It will be so nice to show Rivers State, how it looks like on the form or card given him....
I'm wondering if he says he was a manager in SHELL and he only left to join the Rivers State ministry of finance.....as at 2005 or thereabout, people need to truly verify this information.
So many gaps and loopholes in this stories.
What is stopping you from doing the verification? Which people are you calling??
Vilgax: i'd implore you to double check your facts boss.
No part of Edo's boundary touches the Atlantic! that's a geographical fact.
If you want to rationalize it by arguing it has significant river boundaries like R. Niger, then by that logic; Niger State is not landlocked.
kindly educate me if i am wrong.
Thanks for educating us! I've always assumed Edo state is a coastal state. I just re-checked after your post and confirmed that infact, Ondo state shares border with Delta state, cutting Edo state off from the sea.
Give your speech, you are doing sarcastic political praise and worship, where you have people of different divide. That governor has serious decorum issues. He was stylishly turning that event into political mocking ground. And the embarrassment he encountered is a just recompense. Our politicians should be calming down abeg. It is not all events you must exhibit your political nuance.
Also, Madam Tinubu's behaviour was a let down. We've been hearing about her agbero behaviour and a lot of people think its just talk . Her behaviour at that event was unbecoming of a lady. At best, you can signal to the governor to wrap it up on time. Not standing up to him and even having the temerity to want to pack his things. That was an eyesore. Even her manner of speech and utterance when she had the podium was crass and crude. She was just talking anyhow. Even Ooni was a bit uncomfortable.
Must all these our leaders always show to the world that we are indeed a 3rd world country?? How can leaders with exposure be behaving like unrefined mongrels. It's just sad the kind of people we are.
thisisit: OOOH... I DIDNT KNOW THAT THE BAND DETERMINES THE TUNE AND NOT THE PRESIDENT ..... I DIDNT KNOW THAT THE BAND TUNE IS SUPERIOR TO NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!!
Oga have you ever been where a president is? Asides the national anthem, whenever the president stands to speak, there is a tune played. If he sits and called upon again, the band ushers him with a tune and blowing of trumpet.
There is serious comprehension problems in the land. That is why fake news is thriving. And people are being led like sheep to preconceived objectives.
The man said it is 'religiously' executed. It does not mean it is targeted at a particular religion.
What he said here, is no different to what he said recently. He said they are terrorists and should be regarded as such. He never denied the criminality nor said there is no violent killing.
I don't seem to get this fixation on Christian genocide. Does that mean it is when someone in govt accepts that there is genocide that the criminal acts will miraculously disappear?? What is exactly the issue with this so called Christian genocide claims.
These criminals waylay anyone that happens to fall in their path or trap, either you are Christian or Muslim. They kidnap everyone for ransom and rape victims altogether. There are no reports of kidnapping, where the militants release some people because they are Muslims.
thisisit: THE PRESIDENT DOES NOT HAVE THE PREROGATIVE TO DETERMINE SONG TO BE PLAYED IN AN OFFICIAL NATIONAL FUNCTION .... YOU TURN THE CONSTITUTION UPSIDE DOWN WITH THAT COMMENT IN RED
FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT THE NATIONAL ANTHEM AND PLEDGE ARE THE OFFICIAL SONGS AND COMMITTMENT TO NIGERIA .. NOT TO INDIVIDUAL OR TRIBE ......... THE JUDGES SHOULD HAVE OPPOSED THIS NONSENSE IF THEY have ANY INTEGRITY LEFT IN THEM
Asides the national anthem, the band has different tunes they play during introduction of govt dignitaries.
Have you watched the video? Tinubu was leaving and the band played a tune. So because of that, the Judges should scatter the place and start acting unruly??
TimeManager: The video was clear enough, the Presidential Guard Brigade only played the tune of the song while the judges stood up to welcome the President to the podium. None of the judges sang along. This is a standard protocol whereby the President has the prerogative to determine what song would usher him on stage. And it is not only limited to conferences, forums, or political gatherings, it cuts across all activities, including presentation of budget or any other official presentations. It's just a matter of protocols.
-Kiss the truth!
It is common globally. In the US, they play "Hail to the Chief" whenever the US president is to make an appearance.
I have long giveup on the average Nigerian and their thinking ability
Both the Rufai and mist commenters here are the reasin Nigeria is a 3rd world country.
No country can develop above tge average IQ of its citizens.
See analysis
Oil & Gas (72%) • Nigeria ships 1.6 million barrels/day to Europe • 2025 avg. Brent price: $78/barrel • €36.2 bn cash straight to EU energy giants (Shell, Total, Eni, BP)
How is this straight cash to EU energy gaints.
When the Federal government through NNPC owns about 45 to 50% of all oil production facilities or field, the Oil companies pay royalties and tax.
. Cocoa, Sesame, Leather (18%) • EU buys €8.1 bn of Nigerian farm & raw materials • Germany alone takes €2.4 bn cocoa beans
Is importing goods from Nigeria now a crime done by EU?
I went through the tweet and was just shaking my head in disbelief that I went a full 2 page, and I didnt see any rational opinion.
themanderon: That's why they support everything the evil devilish government does. To them it's all about interests and nothing to do with humanity. That want the status quo to continue. Why can't we process our cocoa like other African countries like Ghana do? Any country that only exports raw materials is doomed.
Who is stopping you from establishing cocoa processing factory??
Which silly analysis is this one doing. Are they not paying for what they are getting?
The payment we received, is that not part of the funds used to fund the government at all levels?
Is payment received not part of what is in our forex reserves?
The only thing a lot of Nigerians are good at is to criticize. Why not tell us what you are making and exporting to the Europe to balance this trade. The companies making the purchase from Nigeria, are they not human beings like you? Why are you not able to also develop and sell a product to them over there.
Dangote is right here doing his bit to balance this anomaly of always buying finished products from the raw materials we produce here, but the children of hate will not see that. It is only to be critical of their country that is in their playbook. Ask them what they are doing as a citizen of the country, they have nothing to say. Only abuses and hate
That's our embassy office in malaysia. Looks like someone uprooted it from naija and just dropped it thre where it fdoesnt fit in. Upon d amount of money they charge for even sinmple things couldn't they afford a little renovation? And u don't even need me to tell u how bad d service is.
larryUG: Lol. Technically speaking, it is a demotion for him. CDS is a ceremonial position without any direct command of any of the branches. The COAS has more power than the CDS, even though the CDS is higher in rank. this is because the CDS cannot issue a direct order to any of the service branch chiefs. The Service branch chiefs receive orders from the C_in_ C directly, hence a more powerful and lucrative position than the CDS who is more like an adviser
Only a few Military men ever gets to the level of a 4-star General. Whoever gets there have everything to be grateful for.
Ofunaofu: You're mistaking theory for reality, but Nigeria doesn’t run on constitutional theory, it runs on power, influence, and control. And no one embodies that more than Tinubu.
You talk about OBJ and Yar’Adua like it’s the same situation. It’s not. OBJ didn’t build Yar’Adua’s political career from scratch or install loyalists in every corner of government. Tinubu, on the other hand, has spent two decades building a loyalty machine from Lagos State to the National Assembly to the APC hierarchy. He doesn’t need to control the presidency from outside he walked into it himself.
This is a man who reversed a constitutional impeachment like it was a minor inconvenience, who handpicks governors like they're his personal aides, remove them at will and who has turned party primaries into coronations, imposed state of emergency removing democratically elected institutions. You really think someone like that suddenly believes in separation of powers and institutional independence?
Stop pretending this is about constitutional structure. It’s about who is in power and Tinubu has made it clear: once he grabs it, snatches it, he doesn’t let go. What we’re watching isn’t governance it’s a slow-motion authoritarian playbook. Tinubu is on course of being Nigeria's life president and the sooner you stop burying your head in the sand, the better.
You are still not getting it. How is Power, influence, and control gotten?? Anyone that becomes Naija president wears this robe automatically and immediately.
The Nigerian president controls the military and police. There's no way a predecessor can control the military and police as vested interest will always shift to the person in power. The rank and file are jostling for position. Once a new sheriff comes on board and selects his team, everyone falls in line. Its only if a coup happens that anything different can be the order of the day.
You cannot control the man holding the gun. No matter what. The Nigerian president holds the gun.
The Nigerian president holds financial and economic power. Once he assumes office. All the economic and financial giants of the country differs to the person. Same with the institutions.
You cannot control a person with both financial and military power. No matter what.
Except as I said earlier, the person is a miserable dullard and coward. And I dont think Nigerians generally are not known for that, let alone someone who'll be able to climb political and power ladder.
richmond500: That was how they said Buhari wanted to extend his tenure.
El Rufai is just crying all over the place and attempting appeal to emotions. Its not working. Despite all his cries, we've not seen any dictatorial move of Tinubu similar to what Obj and even Jonathan did. Despite the collective amnesia of a lot of people, GEJ made some strong dictatorial moves during his tenure.
Manipulation of governorship election in Osun with masked DSS officials.
Seizing of entire newspaper publications by soldiers (this was a new one in Naija)
Isolation of opposition political leaders in their hotels during out of season elections.
Arm twisting Rivers governor with the military and blocking him from govt house.
Blatant rigging of governors forum election to the disbelief of the entire nation. Which led to the split of the group.
Unconstitutional removal of CBN governor.
Unilateral renaming of Unilag in contrast to taking the right steps before the National Assembly. Which he later reversed.
Canceling and postponing National elections.
Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State were prevented from travelling to Ado-Ekiti for their political rally.
Amaechi's plane landed in Akure but his motorcade was intercepted at by soldiers. The aircraft was also later prevented from flying out of Akure. Similarly, Oshiomhole was stopped from flying out of Benin Airport en route to Ekiti. The military officials stopped him also claimed to be acting “on orders from above.”
Ofunaofu: Had someone predicted in 2003 during Tinubu’s campaign for re-election as Governor of Lagos State that he would continue to exert influence over the state for more than two decades, such a claim would likely have been dismissed by his media aides, who would have insisted that his tenure would end with the conclusion of his term in 2007.
However, history has unfolded differently. While Tinubu formally vacated the office of governor, he has, for nearly twenty years, maintained de facto control over Lagos State installing and removing governors at will, treating them as though they were mere extensions of his political machinery. This sustained dominance has arguably hindered the state’s institutional autonomy and stifled its developmental potential.
Given this precedent, Tinubu’s political trajectory suggests a willingness to replicate such a model at the national level, if permitted. Left unchecked, his leadership style raises concerns about the potential for a de facto life presidency in Nigeria.
The Nigerian President is too powerful to be controlled by a predecessor.
Even Obj, a former General thought he could try it with a neophyte, Yara'dua and he was met with disappointment and resorted to letters.
It has never happened in the history of Naija. Even IBB at the peak of his power could not exert any influence on Abacha immediately after handing over.
Even the humble teacher, Shagari, after taking over from the military asserted himself in office.
Power is centralised in the presidency. Both military, political and financial power. There's no way such an entity can be controlled except if the office is occupied by a cowardly dullard. And such people will never succeed in climbing the tough political ladder of Nigeria, let alone getting to the pinnacle.
This graced the front page of Nairaland for a whole day and only had 3 comments This country eh, if na tribalism, political or celebrity thread now, the whole place go don full.
This is a worthy initiative. Keep up the good works Mr. Governor and team.
Nigerians from all over should endeavour to register for this event and take time out to enjoy the serene and green environment Ekiti has got to offer.
We have a number of Nigerians who regularly travel for World marathon majors in London, Tokyo, Paris, New York, Boston, Sydney and others.
They should try and participate and support this our own home grown marathon.
Softmirror: What Israel has been doing and is still doing is the very same that the United States of America does. Very recently, the United States launched an aggressive attack on Venezuela under the pretex of fighting drug barons. Infact the United States has declared the Venezuelan President wanted and are determined to topple his government.
The real Israel in the Bible has long time gone into EXTINCTION. What we call Israel today is only an extension of United States in the Middle East.
Some analysts described current day Israel as United States military outpost in the Middle East.
That is exactly what Ukraine is about to be turned to as well.
"According to him, when he took over, the exchange rate had ballooned to N1,900 to the US dollar. But thanks to reforms and fiscal discipline, the rate has stabilised around N1,450"
😅I've seen blatant lies before but this one takes the cake!
So you are not aware there was a time a dollar almost traded for 2,000 NGN.
