lekonso: Why can't they install prepaid meters for them long time ago so these big debt will not arise in the first place. Unilag will be reluctant to pay that money because they are not even sure whether they actually consume that electricity or not, since it is estimated billing. The Disco just estimate what is favorable for them and gave it to Unilag. How will Unilag pay that kind of bill How did you arrive at the conclusion that it is estimated bill?? |

JetStar: The real issue here is the electricity tariff. But if I talk now dem go come for my head.
Anyway what do I know. Let me just pass. Govt said market reflective tarrif is the way out of our power conundrum. Now even govt agencies are struggling to pay. Universities here and there cannot pay. We even read the story of Kaduna government house. Lol Govt agencies should know the era of cheap electricity is over. They should pay up just the way I'm paying. |

maasoap: They should go solar powered just like universities of Benin. All tertiary institutions in Nigeria should disconnect from DISCOs and embark on solar powered generation. University of Benin has led the way, others should follow too. They don't have to do it all at once because of the lack of fund but start doing it bit by bit, they will eventually reach there. Benin university called for help, money donations from the public and people showed love to the institution. It doesn’t make sense for monthly electricity bill to jumped from 50 million naira to 200 million naira Setup cost is also not free. They have to pay. Someone that cannot pay 200m monthly but want to setup solar. For the energy loads of a place like Unilag, I won't be surprised if the setup cost for full solar power will not be up to 3billion naira or more. The private sector is paying the crazy bill. The govt also should pay! |

Tunde Ayeni should be in Jail for the mismanagement of this Ibadan Disco.
CBN borrowed Discos money to improve their infrastructure, Tunde Ayeni carried the money and borrowed himself, saying Ibadan Disco borrowed Integrated Energy a significant part of the money. Integrated energy owned by himself.
This same Tunde Ayeni, the GEJ regime sold Yola electricity Distribution company and Nitel (NTEL).
He messed up both entities.
The same man was the Chairman of Skye Bank. He messed up the bank.
That he's not in jail shows that we are not serious as a nation.
AMCON is now using public funds to bail out his mess.
And it is also Interesting to note that it was this same man that donated a whopping 1billion to the GEJ campaign. |

10billionDollar:
Due to joblessness & frustration I applied for a driver job at a hotel, during the interview with the CEO, he noticed I was well learned, he then requested for my credentials, after seeing degree certificate, nebosh certification etc He said his conscience can't allow him to use a graduate as a driver. He then offered me the position of the hotel manager on a salary of 50k, I was very happy and grateful initially but I had to abscond after a month of working there without salary and fulfilment.
First the female supervisor managing the hotel operations before refused to handover critical management portfolios to me as instructed by the CEO, so I was still reporting to her daily. The other staff complained badly of their meagre pay and some have not been paid for 3 months, they would not take instructions from me citing they have not been paid salaries. The hotel was like a porn hub, the CEO wasn't ready for a change, instead he will be telling me to create a better new work culture amongst the staff.
I would sit in the office with a non functional computer, move round the hotel daily, all staffs were still reporting to the supervisor. I had no tangible task to handle as the manager. I later noticed my presence was a threat to the female supervisor's choppings
I took excuse from her that I was going to buy food outside and that was how I disappeared from there till date

Phraences: It's like step children are at a disadvantage with this visa people. Imagine having to get permission from an absentee father to give your child a better life. It is sort of a good protection so that one party will not be able to take away a child without the knowledge of the other party. Child custody issue can be tricky. If you do not have sole custody, why will you want to travel with a child without the knowledge of the biological father or mother?? |

Cashmadam: I totally agree with you. You have summarised the issues very well.
Just to add my two cents. These informal transactions are overlooked when you have travel history with them. I run several informal and complex transactions through my savings account but they are overlooked. The major hurdle is the first visa (or maybe the first two). Afterwards, it becomes easier. Yes, you are right. Sometimes too, the amount involved plays a role and the frequency of such inflows. I have a frequent traveller who wants to obtain a visa for some of his staff for a conference. Company sponsored. I explained this 3rd party inflow thing but the big boss waved it off erroneously using himself as justification that it's not a key requirement. I explained and explained until I held my peace. They were all refused on account of deposit/inflow from other sources other than salary. They still did not believe, and said they do not just want to give them bla bla. Right, they do not want to give you, but they need an excuse and will pick the weakest part of the application they can justifiably put out as the reason. They are planning another application and they are still receiving money for work expenses into same salary account, by the time round 2 refusal hits them, they'll locate this thread. |

Jerry1997: I strongly doubt if the visa officer really read the explanation letter I submitted because I explained how the money entered the account there. And some transactions on the account statement were from te company account. I AM TIRED!!! This explanation of a thing do not work. We have seen it over and over again. People should just keep the account clean. The process of escaping with explanation involves detailed transaction trail with verifiable receipts/invoices. And the funds will be from variable entities. Whereas, most of the informal transactions we do with our accounts here in Naija are difficult to formally substantiate. Imagine this scenario, a friend of mine without a local account came to Naija, changed money and I assisted in receiving the money with my own account and was withdrawing cash for him to use. How can you ever explain this to a Visa Officer and it'll scale through?? Or is it the thrift thing that we do in offices and during your turn you collect a lump amount. They do not understand these things. And these transactions do not have verifiable paper trail. Or is it random cash gifts? They do not give anybody money in their society, so they find it difficult to belive one person can just give you 500k or 1m as a gift. Or you stumbled on a deal and assist someone to sell car and you put your own 300/500k on it. They do not believe. They'll think you don leave your work now now to become car dealer?? Lol. Even receiving money for company related transaction is strange to them. Why can't company pay directly to company is what they'll be thinking. Whereas, there's a lot of informal jobs here that you have to pay them directly after confirming work is done. And people also get reimbursement from work. For people working in a place they send money directly to you to close out on a job, give them another account to be using. The best thing is too keep a salary account squeaky clean. UK visa application is rigid, but can be easy if one understands it and closes all weak ends especially for salaried folks. |

Jerry1997: I just got a refusal for UK VISITORS VISA 😢 😭 Your budget is too huge. Probably, you didn't go through the thread. Huge budget without perfect financial circumstances usually result in refusal. Your adduced reason that you spend too much is actually not the only thing that affected the application. You have a good pay. However, two things damaged the application. 1. The budget is too high. Package an application with a budget of between 2,500 - 3,000 pounds or less if possible. You can achieve less by booking a cheap hotel. 2. Unexplained inflows into your account. In the account you accumulated your savings, since it's a salary account, let no other fund come into this account for a period of 6 months you'll be tendering the statement except the salary. Use your other non-salary account for your personal runs. Plan the application again in the next 6 months. Structure your expenses to like 40% of your pay and ensure only salary goes into the account and your expenses/debits goes out with a spread. Not as a lump. |

I organise 100k monthly contributions therfore, I receive money into my naira account from different people up to 1.2 million monthly which I transfer to the recipient accordingly. This same naira account I use in receiving money when I change dollar to naira from aboki. Can I use this account as well or it might complicate things Use only the dollar account, provided you usually leave some money there and have accumulated an amount sufficient to sponsor the trip. Don't drop that naira account with inflow from other sources oh. It's automatic refusal, with or without letter of explanation. |
