rezzy: Is she not the owner of Rita Lori hotel in Surulere?
Same thing Obasanjo wanted to do to her hotel Omo, she no gree for am That hotel I can bet does not have right papers as well. That hotel is under electricity transmission lines. Infact, the swimming pool is directly under high voltage transmission lines of TCN. It is only in Nigeria you see such. In the future when a govt alive to its responsibilities comes around to complain bout the properties under transmission lines of TCN, they'll start crying that they have been there for years, whereas for those years, they perpetuated their illegal sit-tight through unethical influence with different govts. |

chinchum: She should be allowed to pay what is owed within a new and short timeframe and regain the land. Cheap emotional blackmail like the minister was 14 bla bla is beside the point.
My understanding is that the they failed to comply with full of payment of accrued charges to regularise ownership of the real estate within the stipulated timeline. There are punishment for such acts. In Us, uk e.t.c failure to pay property tax on a house may lead to house forfeiture. Nigerians don't like to follow rules and only dictatorial tendencies seems to get result with us. I bet she is begging to now pay the token instead of losing ownership. You cant own a 3.5 billion property and find it hard to pay less than 50 million naira charges of almost 40years.
She claimed building and land is worth over 3.5 billion naira, how come paying less than 50 million is now hard? Even banks will lend the family such money easily. It is unbelievable that people are supporting her. The bill was given to her since Feb last year, she ignored them. I'm sure people working in that company would have raised the matter, but as usual, dictatorial ownership will ignore professional advice. Now she's crying on national TV. |
Politics › Re: In Support Of The Tax Reform Bills - Punch Editorial by agabusta: 7:55am On Dec 04, 2024 |
Macphenson: One of the most controversial issues in this Tax Reform Bill is that 60% of VAT to be shared by states will be given to the state it was collected from, It seems by this it will only favour mostly Lagos and Rivers State to the detriment of the Northern states who are collecting more VAT based on population.
Here is my concern, Lagos state was deliberately made the commercial headquaters of the Nation to the detriment of other states the more reason it collects more taxes.
Practically, All the cars entering the country pays their tax to only Lagos state. Even the cars to be used in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta and Cross River states. Now this is not fair to these states as they have their own seaports but cars are not entering them, the taxes they are supposed to get as a state goes to Lagos state.
Also, Telecom companies pay their VAT in Lagos because their headquaters are located in Lagos, If this new bill is passed, that is no longer fair to all other states where the Telcom companies operate. Telcom companies should now start paying VAT to each state they operate as you can no longer rob Peter to pay Paul.
Oil companies have their headquaters located in Lagos while they operate in different states especially in the Niger Delta. This will no longer be fair if the bill is passed becaused those states where the oil companies operate will start demanding that the oil companies pay thier VAT in those states they operate.
The truth is this bill if passed, is seriously going to open litany of issues which I dont think at the moment the bill captured or resolved it.
Another worrisome dimension, this may prompt the oil producing states to start demanding for 60% of the oil revenues from their respective states, once this happens, chaos will reign supreme in the country. Why are you exposing your ignorance to the world. The duty paid on cars, is it paid to Lagos state? The VAT from Lagos is not for Lagos alone but aggregated in a purse for joint sharing to the whole nation. That is the current practice. And the new law even makes it better. By insisting VAT by telecoms and others should be based on where the calls emanated from and not the head office of the telecom. Personal Income Tax is paid to state of residence and not HQ of company. All the oil companies pays land use charge to their state of residence. And not to Lagos. |
Politics › Re: Tax Bill; You Cannot Take Bayelsa Money & Pay Lagos - Senator Dickson by agabusta: 2:40am On Dec 03, 2024 |
Onovo3: That is not true. The oil companies does their PAYE Tax from Lagos where their office is. The actual exploration and production activities takes place in the Niger Delta. Lagos takes all the PAYE tax of the IOC Oga you are wrong, stop arguing. PAYE is paid to state of residence not state of HQ. |
Politics › Re: Tax Bill; You Cannot Take Bayelsa Money & Pay Lagos - Senator Dickson by agabusta: 2:39am On Dec 03, 2024 |
Kamosh: Tax is not the way you explained it, companies pay company income tax which goes to federal government, and staff tax is paid to states, if the oil company staff are in Bayelsa, Bayelsa state government will collect the tax and those staff in Lagos will pay to Lagos state. May God bless you. People will just be demonstrating ignorance on a public forum and be misleading others. |

1. It is not mandated that visa applicants should pay with cards. Why not walk into the bank or send a relative to go and deposit cash at First Bank ? I have recommended physical deposit in a bank and none have had any issues so far . Welcome back. |

banom: The proper way this embassy people are supposed to be operating is this; there should have been visa fee, and visa application processing fee.
Visa fee should be refundable if application is denied, while processing fee should be non refundable. This is a very reasonable suggestion. But I trust them to just convert their current visa fees to the visa fee and then add additional money for the visa processing fee. |

SmartPolician: And how many Yoruba and Hausa APC members voted for Okorocha when he ran for presidency during APC national convention?
Replying some of you is a total waste of time and I won't do that again. They were not called names is what I dispelled. You guys like to change the goal post as you please, trying to play smart. You guys contributed to the damage of their candidacy by yourselves and the timing was not to their favour. How can Okorocha possibly defeat a Buhari in a primary?? How can Umahi who just joined the party possibly defeat Tinubu who has has been fitting his pieces together in that same structure for the past 20 years. Politics is a game of time investment. Those guys have thrown in their bid, they were not called names as you wrongly suggested, they got some votes but did not emerge. They just need to consistently continue investing their time and strategy and at the opportune moment, things will connect. It's not by emotions and wishful thinking. Buhari did not get there by that. He invested the time and effort and had a solid base of supporters. Even at that, he needed help across the regions to get there. Tinubu did not get there by chance and wishful thinking. He had a solid base of support and invested his time and efforts over decades. Even at that, he needed help across the regions. You need to invest your time, you need a solid base and also need help across the regions to become Nigeria's president. Umahi/Soludo stands a good chance if their base support them. And they are able to garner good support across other regions. Umahi is already on this path, but as usual, those who connect with others are called names by their very base. |
