1. The ship was closer to you AND SAILED INTO YOUR WATERS

2. Yet we train with the indians every year and you do not

Grow up

1. The European ship hijacked in Angolan waters was in your backyard SADC region, the deadness and uselessness of SANF navy allowed it to escape from SADC to ECOWAS where Nigeria intercepted the pirates after Angola cried to Nigerian navy for help. Valour corvettes and Heroine submarines could not catch just one pirate ship in your own backyard of Angolan waters.

2. CITATION NEEDED !!!

Your SAN does not train with India every year, they invited you for a one week training this year NOT every year you liar !!! Nigerian navy SF are training with Indian navy SF and our navy has been asked to make our big ships, air drones, and incoming sea drones available to help India when they call us for many years ahead. Long term joint agreement is what we have, but one week visiting visa is all that India gave you, because that is all SAN is worth.

Stop lying. Valour ships have ZERO torpedoes and Supe Lynx helicopters have NO sonar. South African navy has never got any ASW in its history, only Nigeria has it in black Africa.

I guess the Indians know better that Southern Africa is safe and the only troubled region is west Africa where pirates walk in the park for as long they like. They had no choice but to ask Nigeria to stop their people from feasting on Indian nationals. As it comes to us they know their citizens are safe.

Angola in your regional backyard had s ship hijacked in your SADC region, no navy including yours was able to stop the pirates till they reached Ghana. It was Nigerian navy that eventually stopped and bursted the pirates that came from Angola.

There is piracy in the Indian ocean between India and Mozambique channel. South African navy is not able to project force up the Indian ocean. LOL...last year was the year SAN was boasted of as being ready to start patrolling from SADC region up to ECOWAS region...LOL....we don't see any canoe from South African navy, talk less of warship.

The Su-34 not need Su-30 escort , he has a good air -air system , a 360° radar , can take all type of missile air-air , air groud , air sea , pods ect ... , can be configurat for Electronic warfare and reco and had a cockpit armour (17 mm ) , and he can take the P-800 Oniks missile (SS-N-26 Strobile) and have 4000 km Ferry range without reflueling !

the su 34 fighter-bomber is designed for tactical deployment against air, ground and naval targets (including small and mobile targets) on solo and group missions in daytime and at night, under favourable and adverse weather conditions and in a hostile environment with counter-fire and EW counter-measures deployed, as well as for air reconnaissance

to read

also for manoeuvrability the su 34 have the same base as the Su 30 , the su 27 so he has good maneivrability it's not the same as su 24 serie
see this videos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btxsJlm8cFg

and for radar you forget that max detection range 400 km is not the same as engagement range and not to the same for air targets , sea targets and ground targets , and changes depending on the target size wink , Bars radar N011M has a maximum search range of 400 km for big air targets and a tracking range of 200 km but in ground The N011 is capable of detecting the group of tanks target to a maximum range of 40–50 km only the same for the Zhuk ae radar

there is no aircraft who had a chance again the S 300 system and S 400 witch is a complete and complexe system with many units and mobile

and to finish if he wasn't good russian army will not command more of it or use it with the su 30 SM in syria georgia , algeria who have the Su 30 mka, the su 30 sm are comming and the upgraded su 24 , have ordered 12 aircraft su 34 in this january so i think the su 34 give some adventage and have particular use .

Sorry, many wrong information in your above comment, your source is a YouTube video made for marketing purpose is not a reliable source of real life technical information, my source is Sukhoi official website technical data sheet and Australian defence scientists research website on the Su-34 fulllback and Su-30SM.

Su-34 has no 360° radar, it has front nose and rear tail radars, but still several blind spots especially on the left/right wing sides. Su-30 MKI has front and rear radars too. Only AWAC with roof mounted rotating radar can give 360° coverage.

Su-34 has good agility but NO supermaneuverability according to the Sukhoi company/manufacturer, you will never find a video of Su-34 flying cobra motion or any form of supermaneuverability like the Su-30.

Su-34 needs escort, it has no IRST and OLS systems to detect a stealth jet like F-22 at WVR-BVR or stealthy jet like Rafale at extended BVR. Su-34 will be shöt down from 150 km away by Rafale Meteor BRVAAM, only the Su-30 can counter Rafale with Novator BVRAAM.

I didnt say Su-30 will fire Oniks missile at 400 km, the Oniks range is 300 km, and with a 400 km radar the Su-30 will detect large S-400 SAM batteries at 400 km because the S-400 is a SAM and is emitting radar into the air !!! You forgot that, right?

Su-30 can then launch Oniks air to surface. S-400 is not invincible when it meets its match. Max range of S-400 is 250 km and it should worry about threat from a supersonic speed Oniks air to surface missile that has advanced ECM and ECCM capabilities.

Oniks is configured for Su-30, we have not heard any info that Su-34 is getting it. If we think of configuring Oniks on Su-34, then we can also think of configuring Su-34 ECM on the Su-30 SM.

Baba, soon they will soon start using their Valour frigates for fishing and they will tell you it's economically viable.

The simple answer is because Nigeria is the only country in Sub-Saharan Africa with both airborne and seaborne anti-submarine warfare capabilities, even South Africa has never got any ASW capability in its history.

Hello, I stumbled upon this forum and read last 10 pages or so, I am not surprised that there is toxic behaviour involving the subject and even less with amount of ignorance.

I am not surprised that few users are spreading misinformation about south africa and Denel as they take advantage of ignorance of others like in most african countries is done to their citizens and as with big corporations do and try to do around the world, best way to confront misinformation is with truthful information/facts.

It is true that 9M133 Kornet has a maximum range of 10 kilometers, but that is for variant with thermobaric warhead which is used against infrantry while anti-tank variant has a range of 8 kilometers which are both E/EM while Mokopa which is anti-tank has a maximum range of 10 kilometers which far exceeds original Kornet's range of 5.5 kilometers and not E/EM series. E/EM series are newer than Mokopa.

Mokopa missed targat at 8km, you are still boasting about 10km range, are you mäd? grin

Hellfire ATGM has 11 km range and LAHAT ATGM has 8 km range with pim point accuracy. You must likely be one of the old Southies here who have run away into hiding since SAAF Gripen + Rooivalk + Mokopa all combined together to miss an easy target to disgrace South African military capability, now you created a new Nairaland user ID name/Monicker calling yourself Croat...fool, shame has made you change your name....maybe you have even started beating your wife at home in anger because SANDF disgraced your Rainbow nation after all these years of boasting on internet. grin

till we have confirmed order from Russia.

JF17 + SU34 will be better option for Nigeria currently but the need for SU30 or SU35 will soon be felt.

Su-30 SM is officially a multi-role fighter for air to air, air to land, air to sea combat all combined, just that it has extras for air superiority like IRST, supermaneuverability, TV camera air optimsed but ground capable. Only Henry keeps calling it air superiority.

Su-34 Fullback is a strike fighter that can also fight in the air to defend itself to a limit, it has extras for air to ground strike like more jammers against enemy air defence, better low ground level NOE flight, TV camera ground optimised but air capable.

However,

Su-34 has no super-maneuverability for close range dogfight, yet it wants to penetrate deep into enemy territory where enemy air superiority jets will rise up to intercept it before it can strike them. It cannot match the superior air maneuverability of Rafale, MiG-29 OVT, F-18 Hornet, F-15E, Su-27, Su-30. When war comes, Su-34 will be begging Su-30 to please escort them into enemy territory or they get shöt down like their Su-24 junior brother of Russian air force that was eaten for breakfast by F-16 of Turkish air force in Syrian war three months ago.

Su-34 has no IRST to detect and fight against stealth jets like F-22 Raptor or stealthy jets hard to detect like Rafale. Hëll, one French Rafale in Chad will intercept and wreck three Su-34 together with one blöw in air to air combat with ease.

Su-30 SM beats the Su-34 in air to ground and air to sea strike range and weapon. Su-30 SM radar has 400 km maximum range and can fire the new Oniks air to surface missile that has 300 km range safely outside the range of the world's best air defence SAM the S-400 that has anti-aircraft missile range 250 km.

The Su-34 radar maximum range is 220 km, and it cannot carry the Oniks missile. It's best air to ground missile is the Kh-59 with range 115 km, the the S-400 SAM will kïll the Su-34 in an air to ground strike role that the Su-30 SM will safely fight and win.

I have not seen any country that buys Su-34 strike without first buying Su-30 multi-role.

Pic....Angolan Su-27. Their Su-30 started arriving, with avionics upgrade done in Belarus.

Project BIRO was for both IPVs. MCM and OPVs. It seems like it wont replace any thing though in stead it will augment current fleet. The strike crafts still got live in them.

SAN does not differentiate between IPV and MPV, wanting to build only 50m to 60m vessels? That is strange, so Helmod is criticizing it.

Keep to less than 3 megabytes total photo in one comment/post. Also reduce number of times you insert images directly inside the comment box using ....[img][/img] ....it may cause a ban when you do it more than twice a day or your inserted image is more than 2 megabytes.

Reason Strongest Military In Africa thread survived 5 years is only due to Nigeria vs South Africa rivalry of human egos.

This photo thread looks like booming high now just because the relevant discussions added life and value, people want to know what these nice photos mean, people want to hear from men in Somalia and that keeps them hanging around here. Let's go back to 100% strictly photos....zero comments, and you will see the 'crowd' thin out. Coming from the guy who told us, on this forum, that "official sources say nigeria is buying new missile craft"

Get a grip, drop the hypocrisy

Yes, and I am correct with source available on free internet and source pdf to paste on google browser, and a separate weblink were both posted here same day. Yes Nigerian navy is buying four guided missile fast attack crafts according to the report. Source : PAPER 1 - NIGERIAN NAVY TRANSFORMATION PLAN - IMPLEMENTATION MILESTONES AND THE WAY FORWARD.pdf

I deliberately avoid overloading this photo thread with weblinks for sources in all my comments, it's not the other argument thread where time wasters shout "citation please" asking for proof of everything including proofs that have been repeated for them 20 times. While here, I just rather mention source, e.g. Defenceweb, Guy Martins. That is decent. Now you just brought in today the bad habit of crossing out/striking through peoples' comment from the other thread to this one, soon you will spread it here and later blame another person for the bad habit you started.
