. $40 million Rooivalk fires Mokopa missile and MISSED target.. Proudly made in South Africa Obsolete Rooivalk helicopter launched the over-rated 10 km range Mokopa missile at a range of 8 km, which followed the laser beam from a Gripen jet, but missed the target. http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-42356/ Failure of the decade 5 Likes 4 Shares

Patchesagain: Shocking news! South Africa desperate for Nigeria's partnership to help develop and produce Rooivalk Mk 2 . "Denel Aviation is interested in seeking partners and clients in the development of a new generation Rooivalk...In this process, significant opportunities exist for technology transfer as well as production and MRO participation. He said February's demonstration was aimed at talking to the broader community about the Rooivalk, with interested countries present at the demonstration, including delegations from Nigeria." Patchesagain: Who wants to do the same failure? Why should anyone look for comparison to failure? Smart and honest manufacturers don't go around peddling lies about 10 km range ATGM. PLEASE ENOUGH OF THIS MATTER....THIS IS A PHOTO THREAD . |

Patchesagain: Other countries were not making false claims of a 10km air launched ATGM. You were deceiving the world by claiming a long range that was beyond the capacity of South African technology for an ATGM. Learn your lesson, Denel should be honest next time. 3 Likes |

MikeCZAR: Denel said DEMONSTRATION FOR INTERESTED BUYERS not test. Tests had been done repeatedly before now. Stop lying, its a marketing show to alleged interested buyers not an internal Denel laboratory experimental test. If the Mokopa had hit target, you wont come here and tell us it was a test. We are not kids or fools here, mister Mike. 2 Likes |

Patchesagain: No evidence of any Mokopa order anywhere for SANDF. Yes, 8 km is an easy target range for a guided missile, it is guided to an electronically marked, programmed, and connected/linked, and already known target. Yes thats easy target....but visiting air force officers saw a real failure. Sure Denel is embarrased for telling lies in marketing. 5 Likes |
Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by agaugust: 9:53pm On Feb 16, 2016 |
Patchesagain: Yes, as it happens all over the world. Thousands of air forces officers around the world attend many aircraft demo shows and buy nothing. A demonstration is not a purchase contract. Even the far cheaper T-129 ATAK we have attended demo show and not bought it. There is no Rooovalk talk from any NAF officer. Only Denel is saying it. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by agaugust: 9:48pm On Feb 16, 2016 |
Patchesagain: Actually the marketed range is 10 km, so why was Denel deceiving the world? I have always said the Mokopa was not ordered because it will not work long range effect, now I am proved right. Surely it will even miss target at 6 km. 3 Likes |

Patchesagain: Marketing propaganda to save face in front of foreign potential customers....narrowly by how many metres? How many metres off target? ATGM can only kill a tank by directly hitting target. If the distance is off target by a number of meters, even a soft skin Toyota will escape alive because Mokopa warhead is small, and missing target does not mean it hit the ground beside the target, it can just glide closely beside it and pass by to keep flying aimlessly till missile fuel finishes. Who will use expensive Mokopa to kill terrorists rag tag old model second hand used Toyota soft skin that costs $5,000 ? The missile probably costs 10 times more than the target. What kind of battlefield tactics is that? Who can afford the financial costs? None of those potential customers who watched the marketing demo will come back for any reason. They saw combat failure of the Rooivalk, they saw the exact opposite of Denel marketing claims, they saw a $40 million Rooivalk fail to hit a well known and already revealed target with an expensive guided missile that was used even not up to it's claimed range. Okay, you now say Gripen has poor laser designation capabilities. I see. I agree with you, Gripen is a $60 million jet that CANNOT designate target with the acclaimed and advertised Link ZA superb tactical datalinks that we are told has made Gripen and Rooivalk capable of exchanging target information 'effectively' and the LITENING advanced laser targeting pod, and the 'advanced' Rooivalk cockpits targeting systems, upgraded, state-of-the-art, and the high performance long range many years tested, market ready Mokopa guided missile, and the $40 million Rooivalk allegedly praised for 'super performance' by the UN in Congo DRC, is now missing target, clearly marked, designated, pre-confirmed, Denel planted and location disclosed target that the Rooivalk did not even have to look for....and still fired and MISSED AN EASY TARGET !!!! African air forces should just do what africaken has said, use $40 million to buy 10 units of Gazelle or Fennec type of scout attack helicopters at $4 million each and go kill Al, Shabab, Boko Haram, Ansar Dine with guarantee of hitting target, cheap air to ground munitions are in the world market. 7 Likes 2 Shares

Patchesagain: So you now say Rooivalk can ONLY operate against rag tag M23 rebels armed with ordinary machine guns like 14.5mm, and that Rooivalk cannot fight against a real army. Okay, I agree. Multi-asset fusion that resulted in $40 million Rooivalk and $60 million Gripen = $ 100 million joint air assets firing an expensively priced guided missile and MISSING TARGET....MISSED A CLEARLY MARKED, ELECTRONICALLY DESIGNATED, AND CONFIRMED LOCATION TARGET in broad daylight...Alright, I see how the invited viewer air forces are expected to spend $ 100 million to fire and miss target in real life war and get k.illed in counter-fire reply from the enemy that has SAM and MANPAD like South Sudan army, not to talk of the real African regional powers. Msauza: Quote where NAF said they are desperate for Rooivalk attack helicopter. NAF budget 2016 shows orders for brand new Mi-35 Hind E, why did NAF not order Rooivalk instead? Denel was doing desperate marketing of a rebel worthy helicopter....Mumu. |

. As part of the revitalised Rooivalk Mk 2 programme, Denel is moving forward with certifying the Mokopa missile on the aircraft and two missiles were fired during the Rooivalk demonstration on 3 and 4 February, 2016. The Rooivalk launched the acclaimed 10 km range missile at a range of 8 km, which followed the laser beam from the Gripen, but narrowly missed the target. Source : defenceweb, 7 hours ago. http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-42356/ Guided missile Mokopa of 10 km range MISSED TARGET at 8 km firing range, so what will happen at 10 km ? What will happen if an attack helicopter missile misses a radar guided anti-aircraft SAM system like Pantsir in real war, not against rag tag rebels ? . 3 Likes 1 Share

ssaengine: Bwahaha Nigeria was invited and we went like others went. Egypt has about 40 Apaches, they wont buy a lesser rated Rooivalk that has not seen 1% of the wars Apache has fought in 20 years of combat history. Nigeria is looking at several helicopters, NAF wont spend $40 million on Rooivalk when T-129 ATAK costs only $20 million and has latest 2014 avionics and design. Lol, Denel is desperate to find buyer for Roovalk and is inviting countries to look at its show.....Nobody has promised to spend $1 on the Rooivalk, they all looked at it and walked away back home. . |

Where is NN likely to build big ships? Lagos or Port Harcourt? The industry seems growing too fast for the navy's pocket to buy such big ships and oil companies are used to doing lease from overseas. Lagos LADOL shipyard is expanding to build 40,000 tonne ships. I see overcapacity risk. Gotta go slow, NN is only building one landing ship this year. http://thenationonlineng.net/firm-invests-400m-in-vessel-fabrication-integration-yard/ Pic....Navy visits onne shipyard

Msauza: False story, South African mercenaries do NOT exist and NEVER existed in Nigeria, we hired your men as basic mechanics for SA made MRAPS and new Gazelle helicopter to do repairs and engine servicing. Or I guess the 100 Cuban ex-army mechanics maintaining SANDF vehicles are mercenaries too, they came to help South African army fight Rhino poachers and to train your army in combat tactics from Cuban bush war experience of Angola, the tactics tbey used to beat up yöur white masters SADF. http://www.olisa.tv/2015/10/22/no-south-african-mercenaries-are-helping-nigeria-to-fight-boko-haram-defence-headquarters/ . 1 Like |

Msauza: Liar !!!! I live in USA, there is NO reserve of private clinical practice for local indeginous doctors. Many immigrant doctors have just private clinics where they are their own boss, because it is easier work. Thiza: Just like the Chinese, Indians, Turks, Egyptians, Brazilians, Ukrainians, Greeks, Spaniards, we Nigerians flock all round the world, there are millions of Nigerian immigrants in America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. You think its only South Africa they come to? Nigerians are in your country to do the jobs and commerce that you lazy and illiterate blacks cannot do. Nigerian doctors and nurses are saving your lives in South African hospitals. How many Zulu-Xhosa-Ndebele-Bantu medical doctors exist among your 45 million blacks? South African health system will collapse if all immigrant doctors leave your country, Illiterate Bantus will die in millions from sicknesses without these immgrant doctors and nurses from Nigeria and other African countries, you cannot survive without us. 1 Like |

Thiza: CORRUPTION RUNS IN THE BLOOD OF ALL SOUTH AFRICANS INCLUDING YOUR PREIDENT ZUMA THE THIEF WHO STOLE $23 MILLION. For more than six years, South African President Jacob Zuma has been under pressure to reimburse the government for the $23 million in state funds that were used to make "improvements" to his private home near Nkandla, in KwaZulu-natal. Those supposed security upgrades include a swimming pool, an amphitheater and visitors' center. http://www.pri.org/stories/2016-02-03/jacob-zuma-offers-pay-back-20-million-upgrades-his-private-home The current Nigerian president Buhari is clean honest, but the current South African president Zuma is a big time $23 million thief !!! .
