Eko ile AkA Agbameta why dont you just accept that this is beyond your comprehension. Stop exposing your ignorance on this site! some of us already know that you are "special' .
The govt. goal is to increase the generating capacity hence it make sense for then to continue building more plants and also encourage state govt and the private sector to do same, hence the freedom granted to your master to keep building his 23MW plants. All this is done to boost generating capacity!!!!!!

When FG privatizes its power plant it gets money for it, and hands over/transfers the liability of effective management and maintenance of the plants to those who have business in business- the private sector.
From the money that the FG gets in the privatization process they can plough it back into building more plants to increase generation capacity. Like they are doing at zangeru.

Because the GEJ administration is smart and can get funding more easily and at a cheaper interest rate than most bussiness in Nigeria can, it makes sense for them to utilize this opportunity to borrow and at the same time get technical expertise from the fund managers ---China to finance what is of interest to them ie increasing the power generating capacity in Nigeria.[/s]
Shut your ignorant mouth. I'm not interested in your usual irrelevant, off topic and dumb rubbish that has nothing to do with what privatization act said. Power generation in Nigeria as dictated by the act sends all aspects of power generation to the private sectors and this is why all the power plants got sold to the private sector to start with.

Again, where is the sense in selling off your power plant as dictated by the privatization act, then turn around and borrow money to build another one then turn around again and sell it off to the same private sector when in fact it is now their responsibility to manage sold power plants and build more with their private funds instead of the FG borrowing money to build what's going to end up in the pockets of their cronies for pennies?

Three of the newly built generating plants – Geregu 1, Ughelli and Sapele costing about N300 billion were sold for less than N100 billion.

This new one GEJ borrowed $1billon plus from china to build is going to be sold for peanuts to his cronies, this is fleecing and pure fraud..

....even the sold power plants are pure father Christmas gifts to their cronies because the cronies wrote the law to benefit them and not the Nigerian people. They are basically getting the plants almost free of charge because they demanded 5-10 years tax holiday from government and remittance of MYTO subsidy fund to them even when they have not started operation, and a government guarantee of bank loans to them.

And private license holders, most of whom have not generated any megawatt, are lobbying to participate in the purchase of the new plants. Meanwhile one of the excuses of government for the mindless privatization is that public corporations have become drains on government, and are not profitable. Yet the same government is committing public resources to ensure private profit making.

STFU sometimes..

Sincere 9gerian: [s]
Let me respond to your STUPIDITY and IGNORANCE as regards the PHCN privatisation before you INFECT innocent NLanders with them.

PHCN privatisation does not mean govt is washing its hands off the power SECTOR. What it means is that govt is transfering ownership of majority shares of SOME of its power ASSETS (distribution networks and power plants) to the private sector.

I hope your brain has not gone too bad to the extent that you cannot differentiate between ASSETS and SECTOR?

All the 11 distributions networks and power plants whose majority shares will be handed over to the private sector (ie privatised) on Monday were ALL built by govt. The 10 NIPP power plants that are also being privatised were all built by govt (their privatisation will be completed next year). So these ASSETS were built by govt and are now being transfered to the private sector for management through privatisation. These ASSETS did not fall from heaven.

In addition, not all the power ASSETS are being privatised. The assets of the Transmission Network of Nigeria (TCN) was not privatised because of its strategic importance and national security. Rather its management was contracted to Manitoba Hydro for a specified period of 3 years. Some hydro power stations are being concessioned and not privatised (they maybe concessioned for 30 years for instance after which the ownership return to govt).

In essence, all these reforms were encapsulated in the well thought out power road map of the FG, launched in 2010. They are not happening by accident.

Likewise, new power ASSETS that are CURRENTLY being built by govt (eg the Zungeru reported on this thread) will in future be privatised or concessioned too.

So in summary, the message that has to sink into you emptyhead (although I doubt the capacity of your brainless head to comprehend the subject matter) is that govt is handing over ASSETS, not the power SECTOR. Govt is still a major player in the sector. FG is still building power plants (to complement the IPP's being built by either state govt or private sector), it still regulates the SECTOR, it still controls the Transmission network (although contracted to private sector management for 3 years now) and it is still building new transmission lines. What the Power Road map will achieve after full implementation is that unlike before when investment in the power SECTOR was only coming from govt, now investments are now coming from BOTH govt and private sector. This is more like fast forwarding PROGRESS in the power SECTOR[/s].
the National Policy on Electric Power 2001;
the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (6/2005); and
the Roadmap for Power Sector Reform 2010.

The policy sets out the government's objectives for the sector, including divestiture by the government of its interests in state-owned entities within the sector and the promotion of competition through the full liberalisation of the electricity market.

The act seeks to enshrine these objectives and provide a framework for their implementation. It provides for:

privatisation of the former state-owned monopoly – the National Electric Power Authority;
unbundling of the National Electric Power Authority's successor company – the Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc (PHCN) – into distinct business units;
the subsequent transfer of PHCN's assets, liabilities and staff to its successor companies;
liberalisation of the Nigerian electricity industry to allow for private sector investment; and
determination of market variables (eg, pricing) by market forces.

The road map indicates the government's intention to divest from PHCN's successor companies, other than the Transmission Company of Nigeria, which will continue to be responsible for the transmission of electricity; this is a natural monopoly for the state.
Privatization means privatization and all the power generating assets are gone, sold for good as demanded by the privatization act.

The privatization act was compound and specific and the only exception remains the transmission infrastructures you dumb asss.

Is this zungeru project a power transmission or generating project?

Again, where is the sense and wisdom in selling off your power plants then turn around and indebt yourself with loans from china to building more power plants, then again turn around and sell it for pennies to your cronies while Nigerians keep paying the bills for decades?

No surprise here because you are expected to think and reason like your mentally corrupt and incompetent dullard uncle...

basilo101: A rural state lyk Osun shud luk in2 agriculture. I lyk wat Ebonyi is doing in dat regard
Cocoa is Nigeria's second largest export after oil and Osun is the 2nd largest producer of cocoa in Nigeria.

Osun invested in Agric than more than any other state in Nigeria, they even bought trains to transport their farmers and produce to market centers all the way to Lagos.

A Korean Firm just set up shop in Osun with Sign N60bn Agric invstment

20 Osun youths are in Germany for advanced training in agriculture and food production technology in State of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

O'Beef is up and running with 10,000 cattles

Osun gave farmers acres of land free of charge

Osun gave our billions in agric co-op funds and fertilizers..

Ogbeni is killing 2 birds with one stop by building this airport because it takes care of farm produce, machinery and services and at the same time ferry tourists to the state .

Ogbeni is putting together a classic economic jigsaw puzzle

What Ogbeni Aregbeshola is doing is called diversification. Osun is a major tourist location and it's criminal for Aregbesola or any government not to exploit it's resources and potentials to the max for the benefit of the people of Osun.

Osun is on UNESCO'S list and website as must visit tourist location.

United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted Osun Grove as a World Heritage Site.

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/art/arts/130702-revving-up-osun-osogbo-festival-to-global-taste
You don't put all your eggs in one basket if your idea is self sufficiency.

Osun is maximizing it's potentials for maximum self sufficiency from Agric to IT center, Tourism and beyond.

Oil is a depletive resources and Osun is fast positioning itself for life without Oil and monthly allocations like Lagos and Ogun

Stop confining and limiting your thoughts, good leaders maximize their resources, potentials and opportunities and Ogbeni Aregbe is a great and dynamic leader.
For a start and for prioritization maybe YES, but ultimately the should go on with the plan to have fully functional human and cargo transportation on the waterways. There is no need to introduce an artificial ceiling where none needs to exist in the first place. If in order to prioritize human transportation, heavy cargo should be scheduled for transport after hours like from 9 pm or 10 pm up to 4 am in the morning. Lagos needs all the capacity it can scale up to eventually but I know it is one step at a time, starting on a smaller scale and scaling up as demand and traffic grows!
Right now, they are focusing on human waterways transportation with little on cargo transportation. The cable car system can take care of the human side, but boats and barges are needed to take care of the cargo side of transportation especially in the Ikorodu/Lagaos metro axis.

Ikorodu is farming and industrial hub and they need, fast, functional and dependable mode to move goods and services to Lagos proper in minutes and not even an hour ...this saves time, money, energy and productive manpower.

With cable cars, you can travel from Ikorodu to VI in less than 20 minutes. It's faster, safer and cheaper.

They need to encourage and empower folks in the waterways sector to invest in berg cargo operations..
