Any party thrown during funerals is not for the dead but for the living grin grin. Lots of people benefit from such lavish parties viz event planners, musicians, printers, and lots more. People who are empowered through burial activities will pay tax from the profits made and that will contribute to the IGR of the state. Stopping such activities means no revenue for the people and no tax at the end. Burials should not be pegged. It should be per one's choice and capacity. You do not tell a man who has money to spend how to spend it. Let him concentrate more on how to improve the economy and less on these distractions. There are a lot to be done in Anambra other than quarreling over expensive burial parties.
SmartPolician:
To be clear: the article mentioned that Governor Soludo didn't enact the law. The governor wanted them to abide by an existing law, which, if we are being honest, is very reasonable. I am just wondering the essence of spending a lot of money to bury people who are dead. Sometimes, with the way the so-called clergy behaves, you begin to wonder if they actually have the spirit of God in them.

These are the same people that usually give crazy terms and conditions to bereaved families before they can participate in funeral rites. Throwing a big party for dead people doesn't send them to heaven. The last time I checked: Catholics believe in praying for the dead so that God can accept their souls, not throwing a big party to impress people.

That is not the road being reconstructed. The one they are talking about is an internal road in Aba and not the Federal road that is from PH to Enugu. That federal road is something else and I wonder how motors plying that road everyday survive.
Kenmatt:

I didn't go through.

All I can say is Big Up man!!!

That road is something else, imagine traveling to Enugu from PH, one needs to enter Etchie, run all through and again still come just after Aba.

It happened in Anambra State too.
Family / Re: Igbo Custom On Bride Price Wicked, Evil Ungodly, Says Ondo Court by Aghaclem67: 5:43pm On Oct 11, 2023
This is co-habitation and not marriage. There is no mention of court marriage, neither was bride price paid which is the symbol of customary marriage. So they were just living as boyfriend and girlfriend, co-habiting and producing children if at all the man is really the man giving the woman belle. What if DNA test says that the man is not the biological father? The court in the first place has no right to entertain the matter because there was no evidence that a marriage took place. If another woman comes out from nowhere and tells the man that her child is his, will he just accept it just like that? Don't be surprised that paternity test on those children will prove that man wrong. Na their wahala sha.

Education / Re: Stop Sending Your Children For Holiday Lessons by Aghaclem67: 2:17pm On Aug 21, 2023
You mean that the people who designed the academic calender are stupid. The children need rest as well as the teachers. Overloading their little brain is not right. During our own time, long vacation was used to travel to the city for holidays for those in the rural areas and for those in the cities, it is time for them to travel to their villages for holiday as well. It is also time to help the parents at home and do some other extra curricular activities. During our time we never had holiday lessons neither did we have after school lessons yet many excelled in their chosen field, so what had changed? Even after school lesson is not necessary if the teachers know what they are doing. They use the school official hours to do their private business and charge students fees for after school lessons to teach what they should have taught them during school hours. Teachers please allow the students breath!!!!
Jewessgratitud3:
Now I know where the problem is coming from. Parents!!!!!... Allow us breath!!!!

You claim summer lessons are not important or beneficial now but tomorrow you'll go and start complaining to the schools that your wards are not doing well in their studies and threaten to withdraw them meanwhile you're here discouraging what will help the school to help your wards excel academically

If a child cannot read and understand basic English, how will he thrive in other extra curricular activities?
If he can't solve maths, how will he be able to do quick mental calculations during the so called activities? I don't get it!

Little wonder why we teach from morning till noon still nothing sticks and they can't retain much in their memory because all you parents do is let them play throughout after school and on weekends and they come the following day/week with empty brains. Please!!!

Your wards need this lessons so they don't forget the little they were able to gain before they vacated and all the money you spent the previous term doesn't go to waste. Now, you coming here to discourage this simply means you don't care about their academics which is the leverage and foundation any child needs to climb the ladder of success in a system that works.

I'm shocked to say the least. To think this is coming from 21century parents who know very well that the moral standards of the society has dropped so badly that children no longer have interest in school and all they want to do is play and do social media. Na wa o.

You can use weekends to send them for creative activities not this long summer Biko. Before one pikin go come dey tell me, Miss, I'm in number A.

If it is on 24 hourly counting that is when it becomes 00:03 am and 00:06 am. In this case it is on 12 hourly counting so 12:03 am 12:06 am stands to be correct. Therefore the closest time to midnight is 12:06 am.
descarado:

That is where the problem is
Answers 12:03am and 12:06am are wrong grammatically.
It should have been 00:03 am and 00:06am respectively or 12:03pm and 12:06pm

Education / Re: Solve This Easy And Yet Tricky Question by Aghaclem67: 7:48pm On Jun 23, 2023
But there is no 11:55 PM rather it is 11:55 AM. For me the answer is 12:06 AM
Fuckyoumod:
Here is the trick, Time is always calculated in two ways.

After the hour and To (before the hour)

After 12:00 am - starts counting just a minute after 12:00am.
While To or before the hour of 12:00 am - This means that the time isn't 12:00 am yet.
Some minutes are still left before it hits 12:00 am.

Now, in this context the question is actually referring to - To (before) 12:00 am, Meaning it's not yet 12:00 am.

The only right answer to the time that is nearest to - (To) 12:00Amis 11: 55 pm.

I know a lot of people would go for 12:03am, Because is just 3 minutes apart. But they are wrong.

This is why it's a tricky question.

Politics / Re: Peter Obi's Poster: Marvelous Barinaadaa's Parents Are Irresponsible - Omokri by Aghaclem67: 9:25pm On Mar 15, 2023
seunmsg:
How would a principal in Agulu react to a student coming to school with posters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu?

Students who are generally under 18 and below the voting age should be shielded from partisan politics of hate and tribalism. They are our future and we should not plant tribal bigotry in them in the name of supporting a candidate.

We’ve seen videos of Peter Obi supporters using little children for political and ethno-religious campaign. We must stop this. Parents, especially those from south east really need to do better. Stop indoctrinating your kids with tribal bigotry.

The principal did well by suspending the student. However, it should be a brief suspension. The student should be corrected and properly counseled.

Must we always use tribal sentiments on every issue. We all know that it is a common thing to wrap books with old posters or calendars, even magazines and newspapers to protect the book from tearing. What of a situation where the old poster used is a religious one like the picture of Jesus Christ or Mohammed, I hope you won't say otherwise. Let's deal with the issue on ground on its merit not bringing in ethnicity into it. Unless we see ourselves as Nigeria without looking at issues from tribal perspective, this country may not progress. Come to think of it does that name sound like an easterner? Obidient movement cut across all ethnic groups and not one particular ethnic group. Okay did you check the comment by the Principal? What do you make of it.
The principal would have corrected the student and warned her not to repeat it again which is the usual process before suspension. The principal did not try at all. He or she did not act as a trained teacher or school administrator, his or her certificate and employment is questionable and should be scrutinized. Trained teachers do not act this way.

kollinz1234:
The major stumbling block to Peter Obi's victory is his own people.

Tinubu and Atiku has more terrible antecedents yet their people are promoting their candidacy; whereas, Obi is the best candidate on the ballot yet his people are dragging him down.

2015 and 2019, Kano was producing over 5million votes, while Anambra was struggling with 400 thousand votes. Come out and vote, they will not come out and vote, they will just sit in their homes and be praying for God to help them.

Whatever it is, we the north Central will borrow Obi and do our best to make him president. His people can go and hug transformer for all I care.

That is not right. Chidoka has but only one vote likewise Soludo and Arthur Eze (the people saying rubbish about Obi). They are as well entitled to their opinion which do not represent the opinion of the Igbos as a group. Atiku and Tinubu have fair share of negative opinions from their peoples as well and lots of Igbos are promoting them too. That is the beauty of democracy and in democracy everybody has a reason for choosing a particular candidate not minding why other people chose whom to vote for. Obi is a national project and not a regional project. Let him or his likes say whatever they like, ObiDatti all the way.
God bless the new Nigeria.

Who fixes the bulb when it does in your room? Is it the landlord or you

That is why most tentant go and rope themselves. You signed a tenancy agreement that everything you met in the house was in good condition when packing into the compound that the landlord is not even staying in and promised to take proper care of them Then when the pumping machine spoil you expect the landlord to come and repair it when it was hand to you the tenant in good condition. If that landlord take u tenant to any court with better baby lawyer, na thru ur nose you go damages

Na so some people as tenants go dey claim right until they become landlord before they understand say no be so e be grin grin grin shocked shocked. Them go use and damage the sockets, lampholders, sink taps, shower taps etc and expect the landlord to come fix them because he paid house rent. It's absolutely landlord duty.
It has happened in my rented house.
When it spoiled we contributed and fixed it but when it required buying it was landlord because we are paying him rent which cover renovation and maintenance.
Rent is not just collect and go.
Those shouting tent duty what if the GP tank expires and break who replace or the roof is pulled by breeze who fix it?

I blame the govt for not providing the water. Where water is provided either by the govt or a company, the users pay bill per their consumption. Because it is given to them free of charge by the landlord, tenants see it as their right to misuse the water. Where the landlord stays in the same compound as the tenants, he pays the bill for pumping the water, uses his generator when there is no light and no tenant ever contributes to buy fuel.
Naija we too like free things. Go to where govt provides water and see how much tenants pay for water every month. In Douala Cameroon, my friend pays as much as N6,000.00 depending on his consumption every month as water utility bill. If you fail to pay, they will come and disconnect the pipe that supplies water to your flat.
How I wish every landlord will incorporate flowmeters in their houses and collect water bills at the end of the month, then tenants will be careful (not all tenants are careless but majority are) on how they use or waste water. God help landlords.
If I were the landlord, I go just leave them, by the time they buy water for one month them go humble and think of how to either repair or replace it. Na so one come dey wait for landlord to replace him prepaid meter, landlord no just listen to him. Nobody tell am to go repair the meter after staying in darkness and heat and burning of fuel for some months.

So paying over 250k every year I don't deserve water?

You suppose say, government should build public toilets for us to use and I don't need kitchen, I should be using wood to cook

SMH.

Utility bills are not part of house rent. If the govt were to provide water to every house as is done in some countries, the tenant pays the water bill same as electricity bills and not the landlord. So long as they are not paying any water bill to the landlord, the tenants bear the cost of repairing or replacing the pumping machine. Who replaces a faulty kitchen sink tap in the house, the landlord or the tenant.

Now if the NEPA meter spoils, who is responsible for its repair or replacement, is it NEPA, landlord or the tenant? I think it is high time landlords started installing flowmeter (just like electricity prepaid meter) in the their houses and start collecting water bills from tenants according to their consumption, then he will be responsible for repairing or replacing bad pumping machine. Until that is done some tenants will not stop wasting water or been careless. Before the introduction of prepaid meters, some tenants never paid electric bills once, the settle the corrupt power holding company staff whenever they come thereby incurring huge debt which they leave behind when they pack out. very unfair.
