PoliticsRe: No Clue On Kidnapped Journalists – Police by Agibecky: 3:12pm On Jul 13, 2010
We do not have a police force in Nigeria anymore.
What we have now are dummies and zombies in uniform with guns.

If I tell you what is going on in Nigeria, more millions will even flee to other countries.

The police cannot provide security anywhere in Nigeria and not even inside their own barracks.

A gang of unidentified gun men drove some police officers away after a gun battle at a check point in front of a bank on a popular street in Lagos and for over 30 minutes they took over the street until they left witjhout any challenge from the nearby police station and guess what the check point is no longer there.

Nigeria is looking like a banana republic or rogue nation.

Pity pity pathetic Nigerians.

She is so irresistible, but you know that sleeping with her will do you more harm than good, FLEE before she lures you into her loving arms and wraps you with her charms.
In fact if you have to drive her away, do so.

You have to do this if,

1. You know she has a jealous and dangerous boyfriend or she is married.
2. You know she is a material girl who will be a devourer of your heart and soul and leave you broke when the cookie crumbles.
3. If she is a shameless cheat and lies to you that she loves you, but she is only using you to make ends meet or using you as a dummy to spite a rival or another guy.

NYSCRe: The Minimum Wage Of N17, 000 Is Nonsense by Agibecky(op): 5:14pm On Jul 12, 2010
The fact is, millions of underpaid low income earners in Nigeria spend over 100% more on their welfare than their minimum wage.
Nobody is mistaking the minmum wage for the living wage.

A monthly salary of N30, 000 is not even enough to feed an adult in a month. So, how can he pay the house rent, monthly transport fares and pay other bills?

I am not interested in using the minimum wage in the United States as the yardstick for a minimum wage in Nigeria.
That would be bullshit.

Please, read the following:

Demand for Minimum Wage

Mr. President will recall that long before your recent leave, the NLC had submitted its request for a negotiation of a new national minimum wage. The demand for a new minimum wage has become necessary given the current cost of living. Our arguments for the new minimum wage have always been unassailable. The Nigerian worker, particularly in the public sector, is one of the least paid in the world. This is true when taken against the absolute national currency, as well as wages and salaries based on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), which adjusts the national currency for the differential cost of living of the relevant nations.

It was in recognition of how bad the situation was, indeed the crisis-nature of the situation that led the NLC to demand for wage increase during the President Olusegun Obasanjo regime which culminated in the signing of an agreement aimed at providing a living wage within three years.

The consequence of the abdication of the agreed approach to the implementation of the phased-wage increases has been that wages and salaries have been sharply depressed.

To compound matters, since the 15 percent increase within the framework of wages and salary consolidation, a number of developments have further depressed the actual take-home pay of workers. Inflation has intensified in the last one year, with the cost of living index in the urban sector increasing by over 14 per cent. The disproportionate increase (20.9 percent) in the costs of food means that the erosion in the real wages and salaries of workers is alarmingly severe.

Worse still, the process of consolidation has resulted in a significantly higher income tax burden on workers. The process of monetizing and consolidating in-kind, benefits which were hitherto not taxed has resulted in an escalation of the tax paid by workers. This has further depressed the real take home pay of workers.

Apart from this erosion in the real take home pay, the relativities in the economy is quite skewed against the working class. For example, a comparison of workers' pay to that of political office holders within the same public sector does not suggest that there is a rationale or principle undergirding salary and wages in Nigeria. For example, while workers' salaries increased by 15 percent between 2006 and 2007, those of political office holders increased by over 800 percent

NYSCThe Minimum Wage Of N17, 000 Is Nonsense by Agibecky(op): 2:36pm On Jul 12, 2010
Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has been negotiating for N52000 minimum wage which is reasonable and realistic in view of the present state of the economy. But what the Federal Government of Nigeria decided to pay is a paltry N17, 000.

This new minimum wage of N17, 000 IS NONSENSE.

N17, 000 is not even up to a living wage for any adult low income worker anywhere in Nigeria.
The cost of living in Lagos for the poorest of the poor is about N1, 000 daily and that is only for a single adult without any family.

How can families working in low-wage jobs earning only N17, 000 monthly make ends meet?

N17, 000 is not even enough to feed one Alsatian Dog in a Nigerian senator's residence.

Women can keep secrets oh!

A girlfriend told a guy that she was pregnant for him and he married the girlfriend, but he discovered two decades later that she deceived him when the baby (a girl) was now 21 years old. He was enraged, but he did not let her know that he had found out the truth. He despoiled their "daughter" and told his wife. When she challenged him and wanted to raise hell over his abominable act, he now told her all he found out and she confessed that he was not the real father. The man left town. This happened in Surulere, Lagos.

World Cup 2010: David Beckham Out-Plays Ronaldo and Messi Without Taking to the Pitch

LONDON, July 9, 2010/PRNewswire/ --

- World Cup 'flops' retain commercial value

England might have crashed out of the World Cup, but David Beckham will still take home a trophy after out-playing Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, without setting foot on the pitch.

The footballer, sidelined with an injury throughout England's dismal World Cup campaign, has this week topped a global poll of licensing professionals taken by premier licensing trade exhibition, Brand Licensing Europe 2010.

The worldwide poll looked at the commercial licensing value of World Cup legends past and present. The research analysed the potential money players can make away from the pitch by licensing their name and image to third parties for use in merchandise, like clothing, toys, games, books and films.

A phenomenal 61% of respondents said Beckham had the most commercial licensing value of past World Cup legends, ahead of Brazilian pair, Pele on 28% and Ronaldo on 4%, with feisty Argentine coach, Diego Maradona, on 3%.

Amongst the current crop, five players topped the poll despite poor showings in South Africa. Portuguese playboy Cristiano Ronaldo led the way on 37%, followed by Argentine Lionel Messi on 19%, a grumpy Wayne Rooney on 16%, Brazil's Kaka on 10% and American superstar, Landon Donovan on 7%.

The survey boasts feedback from a diverse global panel of heavyweight licensing brands across many sectors, including sportswear, retail and FMCG, gaming, toy, automotive and fashion, plus an interesting sample of global media organisations, from newspapers to film, digital and technology brands.

Jessica Blue, event director, Brand Licensing Europe 2010 said:

"The World Cup is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and its players, their talents and their images have been showcased to a global audience like never before. The way these players license their brands is a vital part of their commercial power both during and after their football career. It will be fascinating to see how this unfolds during the final stages of the tournament and whether the final itself will give birth to a new global star."

Brand Licensing Europe will take place at Olympia between 28 - 30 September 2010. Sports brands are expected from all around the globe, with confirmed exhibitors including: The Football Association, Manchester United, West Ham United FC, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Wembley Stadium, the RFU, NBA, Nike Merchandising, Ultimate Fighting Championship, MotoGP, Renault F1 Team, Dunlop, Slazenger, Everlast, Lonsdale and the FIA World Rally Championship.
