willow0802: Can you please shut up...if your father didnt tell u about opobo, i'll tell ya. from ur post im sure u re ijaw... no true opobo/bonny man will never deny his igbo lineage. Even the present jaja, THEM NEVER BIRN AM WELL. Na joke I dey o
An opobo man posted this on naij.
opobo is igboland founded by an igbo man , yes! Part of the grand design to severe the Igbo ties is not unconnected with the long kingship tussle that greeted Opobo at the demise of her last Amanyanabo. As we all know, there was a gang up by some chieftaincy houses of Ijaw origins in Opobo to unseat the Jajas. But after 30 years of legal battle, the Nigerian Supreme Court, on the 23rd of April, 2003, ruled that “Opobo is not a traditional town as we know it. It is a Settlement founded by King Jaja, and remains his estate and that of his descendants” Led by the legal giant, the late Chief G.C.M Onyiuke (SAN), the Jajas' authority over Opobo was permanently signed and sealed. It was after the landmark ruling that the family established a foundation in honor of their patriach and quickly appointed Anyim Pius Anyim, the then Senate President, as the life Chairman. Thus, the success or otherwise of de-tonguing Opobo - from Igbo to Ijoid Ibani - will largely depend on the acceptance of the Jaja dynasty. Opobo was founded on Igbo language. And King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, the man I saw at Peter Obi’s farewell gathering at Awka, does not appear like someone who would play with history and tradition. Opobo is one settlement that will be difficult for revisionists to undo as all documents signed by King Jaja himself on behalf of his estate were well secured. And which helped the surviving off-springs reclaim their father’s settlement in the Supreme . Therefore, it is only the Jaja family that can determine the cultural identity of Opobo. In August 2014, at the Elekahia Stadium, Port Harcourt, Hon. Dakuku Peterside representing Opobo told the “unification” gathering of Ohaneze Ndigbo that “I’m a full blooded Igboman….My town, Opobo, was founded by an Igbo, the mighty King Jaja...”

Politics › Danger's Of A One Party State by ahaz(op): 8:43am On Oct 28, 2015 |
I have followed with keen intrest the contributions of everyone on this forum and came up with the conclusion that some of us respond to threads as a result of different intrest and very few does out of patriotism. You must agree with me that the mistakes we made in the past with pdp that lead the party to its demi god status in the obj era as a result of one party state,we are repeating again today..instead of us to lend oir voice towards it we choose to be partisan about it. How do we explian that its only pdp states we had irregularites when we all knew what happened in imo state that the election was characterised with fraud perpetrated by the governor and yet the various courts refuse to here the case but choose to here that of the opposition. Apart from obj that played a iankara democracy, President Yaradua brought with him change from what we use to know.under him pdp lost some states and it comtinued with jonathan...and nigerians were happy at the progresd of our democracy. But here comes those that preach change that we expected a new ways of doing things but they choose to dragg us back to pre 1999 era with lies and propaganda. Are we all not seeing what is going on in imo state were the state has no legislative arm,no jududiciary no executive arm and yet the apc turned a blind eye.this impunites exist in all apc states in different versions but yet no one said anything. Finally my points are we should for once question the activites of apc and its excesses as we should not be allowed to be dragged back to the old ways of doing things, rathet nigeria should be moving forward. |

Leopardd: BY FRANCIS IGATA ENUGU – Director of Radio Biafra and Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who was arrested at Golden Tulip Essential Hotel, Ikeja, on Saturday, has been granted bail. Although, he is yet to fulfill his bail conditions. IPOB’s lawyer, Mr. Egechukwu Obetta lamented that Nnamdi Kanu was put in the same cell with terrorists despite his life threatening health challenges. He said Kanu is selective to delicacies, adding that he (Kanu) vowed never to eat any food served by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
However, midway into the chat with his lawyer, a call came in, indicating that Kanu has been granted bail in the sum of N2 million or with surety of N2 million with a civil servant of grade level 16.
Obetta further said that “Last week, the Afenifere threatened to secede but nobody was vilified. I am talking about the recent Olu Falae’s kidnap case. The militants in the Niger Delta has done same.”
More details soon

cramjones: We have had too many plane crashes in the Nigerian Air Force that has been devoid of being hit by an enemy missile. President Mohammadu Buhari should look into this with the Chief of Defense and Air Staffs. We do not need our young pilots falling off the skys and dying prematurely because of poorly maintained or malfunctioning jets.
That said, I salute the Chief of Air Staff for showing up and honoring the pilot even in death. It shows strong military leadership. On the flip side I recall when Wing Commander Chimda Hedima's plane was shot down by BH, and subsequently beheaded. The CAS and the Nigerian Air Force denied him, and claimed not to even know him. Today we see a different Air Force under the leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari. CHANGE has surely come to Nigeria!
May the gentle soul this pilot who died fighting for the defense of our homeland rest in perfect peace.

I have read many writeups on nairaland on the ancestry of some areas of niger delta namely the ikweres, andonis, anioma and ukwuani.....first of all we have understand that your name is your identity.secoundly, your cultural practise tells who you are.while your present geographical location influences you..if the kabba man in kogi state bears the name yomi and a guy from a village in edo bears dele and an average yoruba man accept them to be yorubas, what stops an ordili in rivers or emeka in delta from being igbo. For many of you that are ignorant of our history o will advice you to watch nta.they have a history programme called kings of the niger.there you will see some documented facts stored in the archieves of nta on how we higer deltans faired we the igbos.the story of the women riot was aired and showed how our ancestors related in unity. We ikweres have a similar cultural dance steps with the owere people in imo,the anioma with the anambraians.if we are from edo like some one said, why are we not practising even one one the edo cultures like the yoruhas practise theres.why are we not atleast bear edo names or spesk edo language.....I opened this thread to warn all those especally the yorubas and some of our foolish brothers who derive joy in dividing us to desist from doing so.your Fathers deseived our fathers now you youth wants to deseive this generation....if you yorubas amd hausas are husy preaching unity.why are you developing goose pimples over the eastern region. PLEASE LET ME SOUND IT CLEAR THAT IGBOS AND THE NIGER DELTA ARE ONE.THE IGBOS ARE NOT FORCING THEMSELVES ON THE S.S..PLEASE STOP THE PROPAGANDA THAT WILL DO YOU NO GOOD. |

NgeneUkwenu: ASABA – EX-MILITANTS under the auspices of Niger Delta Liberation Force, NDLF, Thursday, took a swipe at former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark, who, Wednesday, deserted the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and accused ex-President Goodluck Jonathan of lacking the political will to fight corruption, saying the elder statesman should shut up.
Spokesman of the group, “Captain” Mark Anthony, in a statement, said, “Chief Edwin Clark has no moral justification to condemn former President Goodluck Jonathan by saying that GEJ lacked political will to fight corruption. We are surprised at the unguarded comments from a man who called himself elder statesman.”
“Clark was part of the rot in GEJ administration, he should keep quiet and allow other Nigerians to judge GEJ stewardship.
“We see Clark’s statement against GEJ as the height of betrayal and backstabbing to find favour with the current administration. President Muhammadu Buhari should be warned to be distant himself from persons like Clark if he wants to end well,” the group said.
It added, “We support the ongoing anti-graft war and urge Buhari to extend the searchlight to people like Clark, who are fabulously rich rich. EFCC should track the various bank accounts of Clark and others, who do not hold formal government offices and known open businesses, but are stupendously wealthy”
“We urge Buhari to be impartial in his anti-graft war to bring all looters to book to create a new hope for the future generation of Nigeria,” NDLF asserted.
