Trailblazer1: Marriage of strange bed fellows
Don't they ever learn from history? The North and Southwest are just friendly enemies, who only unite to fight the Igbos and later go back into enmity when there are no Igbos to fight.
I don't mean any disrespect; but I've read the story of Awolowo and Abiola to lend credence to the truth that history always repeats itself.
I pity nairaland underage Apc praise singers my brother the same nIraland under age educated illustrates will still come here nd blame the Igbo over the comment of an hausa man. A times I begain to Co relate mugabes statement he made to the south Africans regarding their xenophobic stupidity as a statement dat suits the yorubas as I quote yorubas can afford to pull down the statue of an hausa man but cannot insult him in his face but can easily insult an Igbo man. |

If you had performed even half, you would have been reelected. Nigerians are glad to kick out clueless leadership.
Stop wishing us failure. It is well with the Federal Republic of Nigeria. no wahala madam we re waitng for u to usher in ur professional presidency |

hairyanus: I took time today to research about this man and why many Igbos adore him...My interest was basically because i have recently been reading biographies and Nigerian political history. Again, i am married to an Igbo woman i love dearly and despite being born long after the war considers this man Ojukwu a Hero.
I found out from various books written about him that he was a typical Igbo man who will not bow to any man. He also hated injustice and will not be silent when its before his eyes.
I was also astonished to discover that his father Loius was among the top 3 Richest Nigerians at the time. So what will make this man abandon such wealth, join the military and subsequently go to war. There has to be more.
I discovered that his mentors had an overwhelming influence on him while he was in Harvard.
His contemporaries could not handle his intelligence and arrogance.
The gradual regionalization of political parties that started as national parties painted a picture that Nigeria is not one but a British creation. AG was purely a western party, NCNC was Eastern by all ramifications. NPC was more northern like others accross the niger..Ojukwu, though being in the army saw a clear case of struggle for dominance and supremacy originating from the regions to the centre. The political firmament of Nigeria took off with a picture of regional struggle for dominance and supremacy.. Ojukwu observed and began to plot. I began to research on how Ojukwu was able to establish the Biafran pound in 3 years and traded globally with it. Where was it printed, who designed it and more?..i am a curious researcher of history when am bored...permit me to inform you that the first batch of the Biafran pounds was printed and brought into Biafra before Ojukwu declared secession.
To be continued, i am typing with my phone and tired. swagarlicious general I dy hail u |

UfuosLaLa: Good evening Nairalanders. I'm new here and i hope I'm posting in the right section. I found out that a handful of the soldiers(e.g Nzeogu, Ifeajuna etc) associated with the so-called 'Igbo coup' of 1966 and the subsequent Biafra struggle were from Present day Delta State(then Mid-West region). Also some popular Igbo figures like Osadebe are from Present day Delta state. Now comes the question- Why was that Igbo part of present Delta State(Delta North) not included in the Map of Biafra? Please o, it's for knowledge sake, I'm not a tribalist abeg. let me borrow a word used by the Nigerian soldiers to notify those involved in the Biafra struggle nd I quote, the igbos in the east central States and there cousines across the Niger. It is guess that answers ur questions |

Arrowman: Buhari administration will not persecute anyone - APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the incoming Buhari Administration will not persecute anyone, contrary to statements credited to President Goodluck Jonathan. In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said, however, that those who have played poker with the nation's destiny must be willing and eager to clear their conscience before man and God.
''That the President-electis a man of integrity is not an issue for debate, and he has made it clear that he will not be bogged down by endless probes. ''However, the hands of the incoming government will not be tied by those who have chosen to play the victim and exhibit a persecution mentality. Whoever has any reason to be afraid must lay bare such reason before Nigerians,'' the party said. It said that under the climate of change that Nigerians have ushered in with their votes, only the guilty needs to be afraid, and those with a guilty conscience, on account of their actions in the public sphere, must clear such so they can be at peace with themselves. ''The last time we checked, this does not fit the definition of persecution,'' APC said. The party wondered why the President chose a public forum to express his fears when he could have done so privately during his meetings with the President-elect. ''Since the presidential election was won and lost, the President and the President-electhave met privately a number of times. Why didn't President Jonathan express his apprehensions during these meetings? ''Even if the two have not met, the President could have reached out to the President-electover any fears that he may be nursing, instead of engaging in an action that seems like he was being preemptive and seeking to curry public sympathy,'' it said APC insisted that the priority of the incoming government will be the welfare and security of the long-suffering people of Nigeria, and enjoined all citizens to support the Administration in charting a new path for the country - away from the rapaciousness and impunity of the past years.
