I use to think that these quack engineers were the cause of the many building collapse, but I realize that I was wrong. Nigeria has so many trained engineering graduates walkIng around and speaking big grammar, but once your hire them, you will realize that they are worse than the untrained ones. I can’t tell you the number of times these poorly trained fools is given a project and they will go out and hire experienced none educated folks who they will pay less to do the job.
Most multi story buildings which collapsed had trained engineers, but whenever something wrong happen, they will claim they owners or builders didn’t do as they were told. How come more buildings are collapsing nowadays? Go to Ibadan and other old cities and you will see buildings of over 100 years still standing. Those who built it were not engineers, workmen who learnt from the white man. Just like the average graduate today cannot compete with the average diploma holder of the 1960s, the average engineer today cannot compete with the technicians of 1960s.

Just hire a legitimate, registered company. One thag has reputation, one that you can sue if worse happens. And one that'll engage the services of all and sundry you'll need to construct your property.

I don't know, but recently I've began to see through David Hundeyin. I like his work from what he did on NASCO, to Flutterwave to The agatu massacre. I think he's a great journalist, but I'm beginning to accept that he like many is flawed, biased and very antagonistic. As much as I'd like to continue stanning him, It's becoming a bit clearer and I'm seeing him from a new light. Like the scales have fallen off my eyes. Stan culture/ hero worship/ cult following in all forms is usually a bad thing.

They're the club bangers, street anthems and social gyrates.

And due to the current sonic pallette of an average Nigerian music listener. Who are more accustomed to playing dance able tracks than the soft and lyrically tuned ballads and soul music they hit.

Nigerians don't want to or at least care to promote or appreciate music that is focused on uplifting and empowerment.

Except Gospel. Which has become a niche nowadays.

And it has a lot to do with the music being promoted rather than the music being churned out.

I tell you there is an equal number of great "moral" music being released daily, but guess who will get most radio airplay? Or TV airplay or DJ spins, or mentions on Social media. The ones that have all the slangs and jibes and beats and groove.

If you were a creator/promoter, what will you do? Release a faster paced jam that appeals to the audience or dig your foot in and loose commercial relevance?

Thank Goodness for the outliers that have managed to blur the line a little bit, delivering faster paced jams but with sensible, sometimes morally tenable lyrics.
