Jobs/VacanciesRe: Post Entry Level/Industrial Trainee Jobs Here For Those Without Experience by ajasa4link:
eremy:
I would like to offer someone with a job in January by the grace of God, I need someone who just finished from catering/culinary school or who is passionate about food. Little things like small chops (spring rolls, samosa and puff puff) chicken wings, burgers, waffle and chicken and the likes. We will work on my recipes for a start and see where it goes. The person will work Monday’s till Saturday’s, 8am till 6pm. Lunch will be provided and a salary of 75K for a start. I’m starting a small lunch business and I need a proper chef to help out. If you’re interested please send your CV and if you don’t have one you can send me an email telling me about yourself and what areas you’re good at in the kitchen to photocafekitchen@gmail.com. This small company will hopefully be expanding fast and soon, so I need someone who is dedicated and loyal to join my team. Thank you very much.
P.S must be based in Lagos. Mainlanders get priority due to distance

That's when you have noting else to do with your life other than schooling. You should also advice him to become a professor before job Hunt since even the PhD holders are jobless. You getting a job and a good one for that mata is God. Its not dependent on the degree you're carrying. Go to Nestlé, The Beng holders are hiding their degree and applying with OND. Nestlé recruit every year. Every body has his place. Any body that has chosen to graduate from a polytechnic should not be discouraged
You just keep confusing yourself. Where is PhD and being a professor coming into the discussion now?

A poster ignorantly claimed 'the 4ckers who graduated with 3.5 gpa from the university' are lesser graduate than their 'almighty polytechnic counterparts who graduated with 3.0', i disagreed with him and pointed to him how the university second class upper graduate might even get job placement in the current labour market ahead of the polytechnic distinction graduate. Yes there is stiff competition in the labour market, but the competition now becomes stiffer with some organizations not wanting to take in polytechnic graduates.

By the way, am sure the sam nestle you are referring to, the operations will definitely not be an OND holder. Yes people will do anything to get into a job. If u have bsc and OND and there's a job opening for OND holder, the wise thing one will do is use his OND cert, get something doing and start looking for ways to either render his bsc for promotion or look for better opportunity with the job experience.

HND in Nigeria is bullshit.. You can't work in big firms.. Those first class graduate will get interviews and aptitude tests.. But HND holder won't get.. Even banks that collect any discipline don't accept HND .. There is no need to compare HND cert and BSC cert because its obvious.. Its just like comparing NCE to HND..
Exactly! You don't even need a first class to get invite in any if those big 4. With 2.1 you are good to go. I remember getting to AC stage back then with KPMG while friends with HND can't even apply even with distinction (which should've been equivalent to first class on this new university grade level)

I do advise younger ones around me with OND to please get a DE form and cross to university and save themselves frustration in the labour market when they start seeing their juniors who attended uni while they are not even being given a chance to prove themselves

Ur just talking rubbish. Do you know the number of university first-class graduate at home even looking for teaching jobs. Both poly and uni they're all the same so far as Nigeria is concern, just get anyone with good grade and God by ur side the sky is your starting point.
Everyone knows there's unemployment crisis in Nigeria. You don't need a prophet or magician to tell u that. So we know it affects everybody. But u failed to counter the point I raised. The little job available, the few companies recruiting are limiting it to B.sc holders. If u want to argue this, I will go to the job section and copy advert of some good companies that recruited recently and show u how they were particular about the bachelor's degree as a requirement.

See this is not an argument of superiority of b.sc to HND, it's a reality if what is happening in the labour market. Just like I said, I've been scouting for jobs for friends who hold HND certificate and to get them an interview invite has not been easily, yet friends with b.sc I help send out their cv still get invited for test and interview once in a while.

Some companies don't take HND holders even if he is their MD's son. If u don't know all these, then maybe u are not fully aware of what is going on in d labour market

Wow! I am most gracious by this change. The fuckers with 3.5 on a 5 point scale had been pairing themselves with the Almighty Polytechnic Upper Class of students who arduously work to get 3.0 on a 4 point scale. Let's see how many of them would be able to achieve this feat henceforth.
grin grin E be like say day never break reach Ur side. Almighty polytechnic upper class students indeed. grin

U dey this Nigeria so? Go to the job section and see the so called ''almighty polytechnic graduates'' gnashing teeth and cursing the day they took that HND form.

In fact some companies have a policy of not taking HND graduate. If u like make 4.0 out of 4.0 in the polytechnic, none of 'the big 4' will touch u with a long pole, yet they would easily take in '' those 4ckers with 3.5 on a 5.0 scale in the university'', provided they pass the test and interview.

Believe it or not, this does not change anything for a polytechnic student at all. In fact an OND holder should just wise up and take a direct entry form, cos one day there will be no job left for HND graduates with the way things are going (N.B I have HND holder friends I've been looking out for jobs on their behalf, and it's not been easy thus far)

I've also not been a believer in the theory that NASU strike is the reason the result/list is not out yet. There's NASU strike yet the post utme result was released, they are preparing to do registration and all.... I beleive they've not just gotten their acts together since a lot of people have confirmed the results are ready and they've seen theirs.
I think it's a pointer that even the almighty unilag does not have a perfect system afterall.....

Let's just chill and wait till when they finally decide to allow us have a glimpse of our performance

If u intend to pass about 8 subjects or more without going for lessons, just reading on Ur own for one month and you are not a genius it's impossible. I mean if u intend passing without leaked questions, expos and all....it's almost impossible.

There is no shortcut to success when it comes to waec GCE.

I remembered when I took mine in sss2. I attended lessons for 6 months and the remaining half month before the exam I stopped going to lesson and spent morning till evening in a public library where I was revising. I had one of the best results as around me that year. Not only did I have distinction and credit in the exam, the effort I put into the preparation furthered prepared me for the university where I also made myself proud.

Anytime u want to take the GCE, prepare way ahead of time and you will do yourself a lot of good.

Sorry I don’t want to sound like kill-joy or something, but the company might end up leaving him in the cold. If he’s Lagos I think he should honor the invite and let’s hope they’ve reviewed their policy of taking only Bachelors degree holders.

Did they say what happens next after the three months?
Is there any remuneration during those 3 months?

Sorry for the plenty questions. I'm at ph so I want to know if it's worth traveling for.
U will get paid for the 3months while in training school. I think it’s about 60k as at then(per month), I don’t think it would’ve changed now.

If u make it past the training school then you get staffed and welcome to the good life grin

Don’t ask me how I know. And for those asking if it’s marketing or not, the answer is ; u can get placed in any of the various divisions of the company including underwriting, claims, accounts, pensions, legal, marketing, audit,hr etc

InvestmentRe: Let's Help A Widow: Difference Between Insurance Benefit And Death Benefit by ajasa4link: 4:04pm On Mar 04, 2017
motocamara:
Thanks so much. It is the same thing in the public sector. However, my aunt has been paid insurance benefit. But she is saying that apart from the insurance benefit, she is also entitled to her husbands death benefit and death gratuity as next of kin. The people that paid her say it is not so. I'm confused as to who is right, but I don't want her not to get the money if she is entitled to it.

Please shed more light on this. Thanks.
Just like I said in my earlier post, I don't know much about the public sector If there is still anything called gratuity however, in the private sector once the insurance company has paid the death benefit to the beneficiary who happens to be the wife in this case, the other lump sum the wife is entitled to is the pension of the deceased husband. I think the problem is, she keeps substituting the terminologies for one another . The same thing she is calling death benefit is the same thing as insurance benefit.

I may be wrong tho
InvestmentRe: Let's Help A Widow: Difference Between Insurance Benefit And Death Benefit by ajasa4link: 12:10pm On Feb 19, 2017
@op I may not be too familiar with how things are done in the public sector, but the little I know about private sector is this; It is mandatory by law that an organisation with 10 employees or more should make insurance provisions for its employees to cater for their beneficiaries in the event of death while on the service of the employer. The benefit payable is usually multiples of annual emolument of the staff. (mostly 3x of his annual salary) What this means is, in the event the husband that works with the company dies, the wife or whoever is the next of kin will provide his death cert, medical statement of cause of death.. Etc and forward same to the insurance company or insurance broker handling insurance on behalf of the employer. At the end of the processing, the beneficiaries left behind will be paid 3 times the annual salary of the deceased in a lump sum, thus the death benefit due from the insurance company has been settled.

The other leg is the pension scheme. Am sure the man has a pension fund administrator that holds his pension contribution in trust. The next of kin can also go ahead to claim the man's pension from them
PoliticsRe: What The Constitution Says About The Civilian Wearing The Military Uniform by ajasa4link: 8:13am On Feb 19, 2017
So many vague laws in our Constitution smh..... Imagine someone wearing camo to impersonate a military officer after the whole court case will only be fined 10naira. All these laws were enacted when Nigeria's currency was much valuable and 10 naira could get u something nice. If we had a working house of assembly these laws ought to have been amended and the fine adjusted to align with the current economic realities. Instead, our legislators are more interested in crosscarpeting, buying exotic cars every year and even dictating to the president whom should be in the ministerial and ambassadorial list, else they won't approve.
Mind u, this is just one of the obsolete laws we have, there are several others. No wonder the pension scam boss was able to walk after stealing billions and paying fines in thousands. We keep shouting asking the executive to give us dividend of democracy and also criticise the judiciary for giving bad pronouncements, yet we forget they work within the ambit of the laws the legislators make or refuse to make.

Honestly ,, before now i have noticed pride in the life of Harry Song, anybody with good eyes will know that Kcee and His brother loved Harry song naturally not because he is a good musician ..

I am not surprised by what is happening now because Harry Song is a proud guy since 2 years ago.

I use to see betrayal on his face anytime i see him around Kcee and his brother, upon all the love they have been showering him, he did not even give them a good music .
Ma nigggga people don't just help u cos of the love they got for u, ur assertion is wrong. They love u cos of what they can gain from u. Just read tru that press release again and see the conditions that were set in the contract Harry signed. After buying out his previous contract for 5m, they want him to release 3 albums in 3years(Olamide is probably the only A'list artist that has achieved this in recent times), they don't want him to collaborate with other musicians on other labels, they want him to always remit a certain percentage to the record label for every penny he makes(which they are not telling us how high it is, probably like the wizkid vs EME 25%/75%)
Tell me where the love like a brother is coming from.

The truth is, they set some unrealistic terms and conditions in that contract, and knowing fully well that as a struggling artiste he is so desperate to get a platform, they were able to tie him down. The unwise Harry that he is didn't even learn from the issue he had with his initial label, he just took the bait.

InvestmentRe: Advantages Of Early Crash Of MMM by ajasa4link: 2:31pm On Jan 22, 2017
Right from the onset, I knew this MMM ponzi scheme was not going to last, I've heard of a senior colleague whose mom's pension went down the drain having invested it in the wonderbanks of 2005. And with my p-man always relishing stories of various schemes in the past disguised in for of investments like MMM, I knew I was not going to have my smallest cash near the MMM.
Having heard every possible explanations of my friends on why I should join the scheme, I took time to do personal research and further confirm my decision not have anything to do with the scam.
I remember my elder sister coming around late November asking if I was doing MMM since she believed am always informed and I would definitely have done my research well. I just told her point blank it's a system designed to fail and when it dies fail, people's cash will be trapped and I don't want any of my relative to be any of such people. Fast forward December, the house of card came down crumbling leaving behind tears, frustration, anger and shame, the regular trademark of fraudulent schemes that preceded it.

The truth is even people educated to the masters level invested in the scheme not because they did their research or saw investment opportunities, rather because they are greedy and want to make fast cash
