The message in the event is more important than the date. Sometimes I don't celebrate my bday on the same day I was born. If it falls into a saturday for instance I can celebrate with my co-workers on Monday. Does it cancle or rule out the fact that its still my birthday? My grand mother doesn't know her birthday, is it a crime if we give her a day in the year and start celebrating her that day in every year, just to make a day her special day.

For years Nnamdi Kanu operated his Radio Biafra and many Nigerians including Igbos knew neither about the station nor about the man. Radio Biafra I was told operated during Obasanjo, Yaradua and Jonathans era and all of them ignored him. As an Igbo man, I never heard of Nnamdi Kanu until President Mohamed Buhari came into power in 2015 and the media reported on Ju14 July 2015 the radio station had been jammed because it did not have a broadcast license from the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission. However, the radio station in a swift reaction labelled such claims as "lies" and went on to release its new frequency details to the public. I was shocked that in spite of my constant online presence, I never heard about him.

I went online to search for Nnamdi Kanu on Google and only Nigerian news sites were reporting and what they were all saying was the FGs claim that they have jammed the station. I checked their radibiafra.co Alexa status and discovered it was not ranking anywhere. Meaning nobody/few people visit the site


Today December 5, 2015, I just checked and Nnamdi Kanu is already on Wikipaedia (check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nnamdi_Kanu). I checked the radios Alexa status and discovered it was not just ranking 1,959 in Nigeria but was ranking also in 4 other countries

It is sad to know that only few Nigeria sites like Nairaland rank in other countries(Nairaland ranks in only 4 other countries, Linda Ikeji ranks only in Nigeria). Anyone who understand online ranking metrics will understand the implication of these figures especially for a domain that was registered in 2013.

My take is that Radio Biafra existed but was not getting media attention until that announcement. It was as if Kanu discovered that annoucement worked to his favour and decided to take it a step further. Today both online and offline is buzzing with Nnamdi Kanu and Radio Biafra

The problem is that most Roman Catholics in Nigeria don't even want to reason things out. They always compare Covenant and other private Universities with the Free education/ schools provided by the missionaries during the colonial era.
