Quote I was in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife when another round of the war of self-determination and secession broke out between Modakeke and Ife. As the war escalated, a single bullet wasn’t enough to kill the “enemy,” he had to be butchered into little pieces and the severed heads displayed at each other’s market squares to huge approval and celebration. Such was the power of the mutual hatred unleashed from their pride in their respective ethnic identities that these two communities were not rebuked by the fact that were both Yoruba, both Nigerians, or that the massacres were being conducted around the famed cradle of Yoruba civilization. i told you that yorubas are there own worst enemies, that quote from above tells a lot.One nigeria is still calming them down at the moment, their focus are on igbos....We Igbos shall surely rise above our present circumstances. ![]() |
*as Anambra’s new 357-stalls mkt commences on schedule - The Nkwelle-Ogidi community in Ogidi, the Idemili North Local Government Area headquarters of Anambra state has taken the lead in employment and job creation in the country in support of the rural development programme of the Federal government. This was disclosed to stakeholders, journalists and other citizens yesterday in Ogidi during an assessment tour of their newly built ultra-modern market led by their chairman, Chief Maurice Ebo. According to Chief Ebo, “buyers have already started moving into their allotted stalls ahead of the forthcoming commissioning soon”. He said that it was gratifying that the community is playing key role in the call for synergy with the Federal, state and local governments in rural development, women/youth empowerment, widowhood support, poverty alleviation and skill acquisition/impartation, as well as providing a round-the-clock security for citizens among many other community development tools, made by President Jonathan. Chief Ebo who is also the national President of the Fishfarm Estate Developers Association, admitted that their mission was to get every able bodied person in the community gainfully employed, improve quality of lives/revenue, hence directly and indirectly tackle unemployment and anti-social vices. He disclosed that his executive, buoyed by a massive people’s popular support was committed to tarring and asphalting all roads within the community, electricity transformers, well reticulated boreholes, security gates, street lights. That so far it has become customary for all widows in the community to collect welfare packages at Easter/Christmas, pop-corn machines, hairdressing/barbing salons, youth to get commuter buses, Keke-NAPEP, while others would be trained in aqua-culture, welding, business centre management and cash. The Construction of the new ultra modern market overlooking the Bakery Products market along the Enugu-Onitsha Federal Highway has been graduated in phases, with phase one now ready. He urged all allottees to get prepared for full commencement of business activities soon. He thanked Governor Peter Obi for appointing some of their sons, daughters and wives into positions of importance in government, including the Commissioner for Health, the Permanent Secretary-Government House and the Special Assistant on Media. http://247ureports.com/community-partners-jonathan-obi-on-employment-youth-empowerment-widowhood-support/ |

One_Naira: How did he put his words wrongly. The message is clear. I understand where he is coming from. I'm the same way. I feel for Igbo first, some NDs such as ibibio, Efik out of family marriage and friendship.. The rest whatever happens to them, happens as far as I'm concerned. I pray and beg for Igbo people independence. That was my point exactly can you explain the efik ibibio history a bit further pls... |
Are shopping malls really necessary in onitsha? enugu mall at the moment need customers from anmabra state before they jump into onitsha project, obi should first of all, clear (ose) market and build a modern market for them, build proper cold storage rooms for meat and veg, restructure the whole (ose) market infarct, main market is clean and well organized but not the whole sections are like that. He could have focus on creating access roads that link main market, nkpor Auto parts, pharmaceutical companies in head bridge, obosi break yards,to nnewi Auto car dealers.Give quicker access roads that link these state economy hub, that will-bring alot of changes than building shopping malls in anambra state, trust me,it will not work, reason because businessmen from main market will frustrate them, it will be hard for any company in that mall to break through... |

this is his reply Tokunbo AremoOdua In which I replied him:@Babaduks Ons Eros, I respect your opinion...but I based my judgement on my experience in a multi-ethnic country like Nigeria (the UK) where I'm based. In my many years in the UK I have never seen a time the English National coach /Manager played all white players as a NATIONAL TEAM. It's nothing to do with quota system but giving other ethnic group a sense of belonging all because Nigeria is not a nation but a country of many Nations. The Spanish example you gave is just like if Yoruba were to be a nation and Egba, Ijebu, Ibadan Ife and Ekiti were complaining of all Ibadan players being selected to represent the Yoruba nation...No! nobody will buy that but chosen people from one ethnic nation from a multi-ethnic country is a complete act of EXCLUSION! |

C*O*N*F*U*S*E*D! IGBOS Are Favoured in The Super Eagles $30,000 Bonus. - Activist, Tokunbo Aremo Odua. **Now the Igbo will be £300,000 or N60million richer than other ethnic groups in Nigeria. **this is the kind of inequality, injustice and unfairness that I am talking about. An activist, Tokunbo Aremo Odua, has complained that the $30,000 match bonus giving to the Super Eagles for winning their match against Ethiopia is against the Federal Character principles as it enriches the Igbo nation to the disadvantage of other players. Tokunbo said because most of the players are of Igbo origin the dole out is unfair. Nightshift: A well integrated projects to open the East by encouraging easy movement and trade is needed if Ndigbo are serious about investments and poverty reductions. Would be great if Anambra, Enugu and with some investors role, could build a 100km rail line from Enugu to Onitsha. Trains running through the route every 20 minutes on both directions would unleash growth in trade that would give the state's economies double digits growth . Later Onitsha-Owerri-Aba route will follow. Enugu-Umuahia-Aba route is already built, but expansion and a joint-venture agreement with NRC is needed. Another 90km connection between Abakaliki and Enugu will be built as well. With a population of about 35 million , the South East is an economic miracle waiting to take off. The improvement in power supply , and the prospect of new power plants, should be a sign for our state governments to work together, seizing this new opportunity towards bringing about 'a German wonder' to Ndigbo. We cannot wait any longer, this is our time to get started !! Igbo businessmen and women should be encouraged to bring foreign partners to the region . We must provide conducive environment necessary for exploring our ingenuity, or else we waste .THERE IS STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT BROTHER, ENUGU AND ANAMBRA WILL SOON BUILD TRANSIT TRAINS AND MONO-RAILS THAT CARRY BOTH HUMAN, GOODS AND SERVICES-ES... |

Onlytruth: I guess this is probably confirming what I sensed when I was home during Christmas season. I sensed that something is happening in Anambra state but I couldn't put my fingers on the exact thing. All I know is that I witnessed a totally different Igwe Orizu III ofala festival, such as I had never seen before. I personally estimated about thousands of DIGNATORIES (from all over Nigeria), and performers (drummers, masquerades, dancers, and other forms of performers) all looking well fed and fresh for people living in so called third world setting and "village" Nnewi Anambra state. Heck even the cars are all looking new! lol.so you witness the igwe orizu ofala i witnessed it last xmas, nnewi was bobbling big cars everywhere,i saw lots of young faces with serious money is like the town breed "entrepreneurs" every year.. |
