Obi predicts bright future for Innoson mini bus •“It’ll replace Keke NAPEP”By Moses Akaigwe [igwemos@sunnewsonline] Friday March 30, 2012 Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has observed that the latest mini bus to roll off the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing plant in Nnewi, has all it takes to replace Keke NAPEP tricycle as a popular means of transportation in the country. Gov Obi said though the tricycle, also known as Keke Marwa, is widely in use in both urban and rural areas, Innoson’s latest offering could overtake the Indian import in terms of suitability for quick shuttles and passenger appeal. He made the observations recently in Awka, Anambra State during an exhibition of made-in-Nigeria products organized by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Eastern zone. According to him, “Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company has made Nigeria proud with its vehicles. This latest product, IVM 1.3 mini bus, will surely satisfy the demands of those who may not like to use “keke” because of its rough nature. The small vehicle which has in-built air conditioner is not only unique, but attractive and durable. This is really a great initiative from a determined mind like Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma, OFR, the company’s Chief Executive Officer.” The governor who recently bought school buses and refuse disposal trucks valued at over =N=400 million from the company, further called for encouragement and support for the Nnewi plant, from other states in Nigeria, stating that the range of vehicles it has so far produced is a testimony to its commitment and determination to elevate auto industry in Nigeria. The newest Innoson vehicle, a 1.3 litre-engine, six-seater bus, is currently on display at the company’s stand at the Enugu International Trade Fair, where it is attracting a lot of attention from visitors. sun news |

SS will lose nothing at all but the problem they might face is territoriality boundaries and corrupt leaders which can be sorted out within the different communities................... |
EagleNest: I am not surprised at all about this feat. When I was in South East,I have seen a made-in-Awka water drilling rig fabricated by a secondary school leaver (GTC) which can drill upto 700 feet through the thick IMO Shale prevalent in that area. The rig is fitted with powerful auxilliary gear and was highly sought out by drillers during those days (2003). The same applies to Onitsha, Nnewi and Aba. The South East people are highly gifted in technology and business. They dont even go to school to learn these things. This human resource should be tapped in developing Nigeria.Let's look inward and empower people with such gifts. South Korea, China, India, Malasia, etc are all doing it themselves and are now international brands. It's not magic but simply embracing your own technology. We are the one in tropics and should be able to manufacture locally electric fans and A/C and not to import. We have such huge population and should have been producing our mass transit buses. Molue bus and 911 truck has it's body locally fabricated and why have we not improved on this all these decades. Anyway,we cannot see b/c we are blinded by corruption (easy money) which is almost bringing Nigeria to halt. I rest my case. Innoson, I salute!correct!! the country suppose to pass these level by now,as someone said that nigeria is not a serious country that's why common south Africa dey deport their govt officials it is sad really it is time for the country to help themselves and lift up their glory as human beings so that the world will have a little respect for us............ |

olajide_07: yea its having serious issues from what i heard though it hasn't been confirmed the bane of Nigerian society has entered there CORRUPTION, i also heard the contract was awarded to Turai Yar Adua wife of Umaru and that woman "sabi" pilfer money so they revoked it but could get the advanced payment of the $12 billion paid for the commencement of the project, well i also heard she came in with her technical partners these Chinese guys, i hope they are not the same guys that were awarded this contract, you need to see the nature of the job very ugly looking and it has been done in very funny phases some areas have been laid but i tell you if a serious rain should fall around it it would sweep off the stones and the rails the laid and i don't think they really had the shops things for rent in the picture very ugly looking though i was even thinking it would have made more sense to start and gradually expand the network their is this part where the trains are supposed to pass over cars like a carriage bridge but with the standard of work going on their and the nature of the materials they are using we are in for serious trouble its like they say fake substandard products it would have been a tourist attraction of some sort but mehn! i dey fear oh! guess i would take some picturesu don kill me chie tears don full my eyes nice one ![]() |
