Olumyco:
This topic is good and many have spoken well but there is a point all of us have neglected. Medical Student graduates as a Medical Doctor who can practice directly after school because they are awarded the Profession Certificate and not just academic certificate... I mean MBBS. We Engineers are awarded Academic Certificate and we need like I think 5 years practice to be qualified to be certified as an Engineer by Coren. This is one of the main tussles. Nigeria Body that regulates Engineering profession missed it from that point. Had it been we Engineering Students graduates as an Engineer like Medicine Students who graduates as Doctors... this plight would be easy to fight.I wish COREN & NSE can look into this and change it.. even if it will require us to do an extra six month training or one yr training in an Engineering company to get certified as an Engineer b4 NYSC... it will help us. Many Engineering graduates have been lost to other field because of this problem. There are many jobs that demands a certified Engineer and U as a fresh graduate cannot apply.

Another thing that is also very key in this is that the entry level of most Engineering courses in our Universities is very low.... If U see Medicine Students beating their chest that they are better than us... they know what they are saying and it is valid because anybody cannot just say he wants to go and study medicine.. because the entry level is high. Pple with high IQ are those who make it to medicine. Engineering in our schl is full of many types of pple. So if this can be regulated it will help protect the Engineering profession and performance will not be an issue

Lastly I can see pple are saying they shud send Engineering Graduates to Engineering Companies. The question is how many Engineering Companies are in the local govt of Nigeria States since posting is done local govt by govt within a state. And besides because of low standard and low entry level to Engineering courses we have more graduates of Engineering than medicine... so where will they pack them to. If they pack every engineer to where industries are like Lagos, Sango Ota etc how will the main objective of NYSC be achieve which is promotion of national unity. The best they can do is to rotate it... like spend some months teaching and then go to another place for industrial experience since we are much and if standards can be upgraded and more industries are created then things will align and shape better.

And pls lets stop the comparison. Medicine and Engineering demands high IQ to study. Both use their brain. Whether U want to memorise or do analytical thinking... high intelligence is still needed.
reduce supply, demand will be high and the price paid for a commodity will go up.

thats exactly what the doctors and nma has done right.

in faculty of engineering you have many departments all of them admitting,in medicine you are admitting as one faculty.

because of the shortage of doctors and the regulation that you cannot set up a hospital without having a doctor made it for them.

another people facing the same problem is lawyer, their own worst pass.due to too many lawyers being pushed out by 6 law schools one per geopolitical zone.now law graduates earn 5,000 per months after graduation until they gain enough experience and client to set up their own chambers.

even at that the whole problem is summerised to one,bad economy and nigeria being a consumming nation not a manufacturing nation. FACT!,however, the doctors too are suffering like hell but you wont notice becuse we are focused on just the public sector who is doing father xmas.in private sector, how many earns more than 200,000 per months?this one wey every street get more than 2 hospitals.

its only in the medical sector that the public sector pays more than the private sector.

Thanks

upon all what u go through, what do u guys have to show for it, common renovation of 500m road, Nigerian engineers can't do, we have to bring engineers from India.

Una no know anything, that y Nigerians have deemed it right that u work as teachers during nysc
let me shock you, where i work the engineering machines for production is handled by an outsourced company tetrapaks and the company engineer(indians and nigeria).

tetra paks are the main boys handling critical support, the tetra pak enginneers are nigerians trained by tetrapak.there is nothing wrong with nigerian engineers its the system that is dulling us.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Got A Reject Mail? This Is How To Respond by AK481(m): 3:35pm On Mar 02, 2018
JARUSHUB:
You saw the vacancy and its requirements. You are qualified, become ecstatic, and apply. The invite for an online test arrives, you wrote and passed! Yay! You are sent another invite for a “confirmation” test, and passed again. That feeling of being a boss arouses within you. Is it not me again? Then you get called for assessment centre, and you passed – again! Then chat with the executives in the firm. Then the big wait commences. A week after the chat, the mail drops in. “We are sorry to inform you that….” Expectedly, you become devastated about everything. What next? After what I said and demonstrated? The suits and shoes I wore? The plans I had? The money I invested into transport, feeding and accommodation? The pictures to take? What else? Yes, it is never easy to be told you have not succeeded after an interview, especially if it occurs frequently, and worse still at the same firm.

As a seeker who just got “regretted”, you should remember you are not alone. The job market is extremely competitive with recruiters having many well-qualified candidates to choose from. Suffice to say, it is a buyers’ market. At times, it is tedious. Competing in the labour market invariably increases one’s resilience and perseverance. This enables one to cope with the rigorous processes of searching for jobs later on.

Although, being sent a regret mail can be psychologically onerous, it can serve as an invaluable bank of knowledge for further hunts. Don’t give up, be positive. JarusHub reels out three ways you can address the situation:

1.[s] CONTACT THE RECRUITER: You can send the firm an email a short while after the rejection mail, where you courteously appreciate them for their time and service, and asking when similar opportunities can be made available. This could be an opportunity for your details to be kept for future openings. Additionally, you could politely request on how you fared, and where you goofed. This will aid your search – at the firm or elsewhere – next time. Ensure the conversation is concise, professional and appreciative. It is important to note that some recruiters won’t reply any questions, especially if you made it to the interview stage. Others will simply proffer trite statements.[/s]
just move on and dont look back

Before typing,I had to read through to make sure someone has not written what I want to write, but sadly nobody has.
The Muslims are happy at the ignorance of Christian towards their brutal and hateful religion, but it won’t last long.

Ladies and gents, let me put it straight that the pastor is ignorant of what he is preaching, even though he raised some points, but he is really ignorant.

Before,I list out the hateful and brutal division in Islam, let me cast your mind to what is happening to elzazaky and his “Islamic brother” buhari.

I know ,I know.....

In Islam, there are hateful segregation and if any dare crossses another path, death is the only settlement.

We have shai (elzalzaki sect),Sunni (buhari and elrufai +85% of moslims in Nigeria),wahabis(terroristic and hateful sect with root in Saudi Arabia, these guys preaches the most violent form of Islam ),salafist, alawaite(an offshoot of shai).

All these sect sees another as the devil and prefers to worship with other religions than fellow moslem of other sects.

The whole problem in the Middle East e.g Syria (alawaite vs Sunni),yemen(shai vs Sunni),iran and Lebanon vs saudi(shai vs Sunni), iraq(shai vs Sunni).

It’s bloody, the division is as sharp as Moses Red Sea.

If you look at those praising Islam and casting Christian in support of the bishop, you will realized to it is the so called Yoruba moslem in Southwest whose region was conquered by Usman dan fodio, they don’t have the privilege of knowing their religion, while the conc moslem, the once who sleeps in Islamic section of nairaland are avoiding the thread because they know the pastors ignorance and that of their southern moslem brothers.

I challenge any body to tell me a problem in main Islamic country that has nothing to do with their division?

Politics › Re: Facts Why Buhari Will Win 2019 Election - Kelvin Nwata by AK481(m): 5:44pm On Feb 22, 2018
obailala:
Buhari needs 25% of the votes in 24 states, but he will very easily get that 25% from 26 states. The only states where he will struggle to get 25% are the 5 SE and 5 SS states (i.e. 5 when you exclude Edo).

In terms of total number of votes, you need to remember that PDP secured many votes in 2015 because plenty people were passionate about GEJ and PDP also had the power of incumbency. Now the northern crowd due to ethnic and religious sentiments will still kill themselves in 2019 to vote Buhari, even supported with their horde of underaged voters. But just imagine when PDP fronts a northern candidate, do you think a typical Igbo man will leave his shop to go stand under the sun and rain to vote for 'another Hausa man' all because he hates Buhari?... nobody really got time for that. There isnt any Jonathan whom people are passionate about anymore, voter turn out in the SS and SE amd even the SW would be much lower than in 2015; the fact is that people havent been provided with any hopeful choice, so a lot of people (southerners) lamenting now would end up not bothering themselves during the election for lack of a promising alternative. Hating buhari isnt enough of an incentive to wake and push people to go vote, but you can be sure that the love and passion for their candidate would keep the entire north awake.
this one dont know how passionate and united we the igbos are to kick the dullard out.
just wait and see,we igbos are tired of talking, there is no need to talk.the python dance scar is still on our cheek,we see it daily.
