We (migrants to Yoruba land) have helped in shaping the region (Yoruba land) for a very long time. It seems our efforts have not been appreciated. In this topic, I will show how it is done using my journey as a yardstick.

While traveling to Lagos, I met my father's friend. We had a conversation, and he asked me what I was doing at the moment, I told him I was still searching for a job or business to do, so he recommended I go into farming, that I could become a millionaire in no time.

Some months later, I called him and told him, I was ready to go into Agriculture. We talked on phone. I traveled to meet him in Osun state, he took me to a chief, one Oba like that, they talked and the Oba called some elders, with some negotiation from my father's friend I was given a land that I paid for and signed some documents and some old receipts was given to me. I was introduced to one Olumide (not his real name)

It dawned on me. I had no one in this village, except me.

I needed people to clear the land 2 hectares, i.e. 32 plots.
500 naira x 32 i.e 16000.
Olumide organized people and I gave him 18,000.

To dig ridges, I had to pay a total of 16,000 naira i.e. 500 naira x 32 plots.

A well was dug to water the land. This served as a source of water for half of the community. Another 40,000 nairas. People from other farms came to my farm to fetch water than go to the river that was nearby.

Planting and weeding of the land was paid for by me.

During harvest, Olumide organized and brought a truck that will take the crops to the market which I paid for. Harvesting and truck plus the number of days the truck waited.

I also paid money at the military checkpoint to pass through with my crops.

After selling the crops I made some money and cashed out of agriculture, it wasn't big, but it was enough to venture into something else, I did not cover enough of the money I spent, but I tried.

My experience.

If I had sold it there, I would not have made any profits because I sensed there was a conspiracy against me.
It was an experience that I would not forget.

Note that the people working on “my land” were indigents of that land, they were not outsiders. I was paying them to work on their own land... That's how the scam works.

I also paid for security of the land. The person I was paying bears the name of the village and is one of the sons of the Oba I bought the land from (I believed they were spying on me.)

I was given different girls by the community. They sent their daughters to cook for me, wash my clothes, etc. Different girls every week (they told me their parents sent them.) they worshiped me and bowed down to me anywhere I went. Most of the girls were teenagers, and there are a lot of teenage pregnancy down here.
I don't even know who impregnate them. They cover themselves with hijab and all that to hide the pregnancy.... Or to hide the fact that they are pregnant teenagers.

It wasn't possible to live a low profile.
This style of development has been going on for decades and no one talks about it. The community feeds on the developer because their politicians failed them.

But at the end I am proud to say I took development to Yoruba land.

I am a proud developer
So Farming in Yorubaland now qualify you as a developer, you are very funny,.You constructed the well for your own sake as irrigation for your plants and the community took advantage of it.

Other Nigerians do that in Igboland but dont see it as a big deal.
You can only be a developer in Yorubaland if you site big companies there.

Fulani is developing Igboland because their cows provide manure for your farmland and cheap meat.

War brings immigration and people will immigrate to a peaceful place when war breaks out in a particular place because they want a better life.

The boko haram crisis is an example, many Northerners living in areas affected by bokoharam immigrated to other places within and outside Nigeria, also the ambazonians immigrants are all in Nigeria in Cross River state

This should be a lesson, if Ipob terrorists cause a war in igboland, many igbos will immigrate to south western states and this will cause another internal crisis within those states but these crisis might be competition over scared resources because of over population.
Many boko haram victims flooded lagos too to do Okada business.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Problem Is Not Corruption But Poverty And Narcissism. by akanke79(op):
Narcissism at play in the Nigerian household
A narcissistic man meets a woman, he love bomb her to fall in love with him,he then devalues, gaslight and discard her and vice versa. The cycle continues with every other woman he meets.

In another scenario,A narcissitic man or woman marries for the benefit they derive from their partner not love like money, beauty, social class.
They have children and raise them in a troubled environment of fights, curses, violence.
The children are divided into the golden child, flying monkeys and the scape goat. These children from troubled homes(have a dependency trait) are preys to other Narcissists or predators who will lovebomb them into evil vices like cultism, prostitution, drugs etc.

The religious narcissism: Perhaps they are the pastor/Sheikh or someone in a leadership position within the church/Jammah. Or maybe they are a church member/sect member, who attends services/meetings faithfully.

Below are 7 reasons why narcissists love church.

1.) THEY LOVE THE ATTENTION

Narcissists often see church as a valuable source of attention.

Their excessive need for attention is known as narcissistic supply! Just like a leech, narcissists gain their energy from the admiration of those around them.

Church is the perfect place for the narcissist to be able to parade their accomplishments and spiritual sincerity to others.

Their “religious works” are usually met with praise and accolades from others.

“Thank God for you! You have such a servant’s heart.”

“Wow! You are such a man/woman of God!”

“Thank-you! You are such a caring and selfless person.”

The narcissist LOVES this! They see church is a social club of people who are willing to dole out the praise if they “walk the walk” and check the boxes.

2.) THE CHURCH WILL RARELY KICK THEM OUT

In the majority of cases, narcissists don’t do anything unlawful. Illegal behavior should always be met with immediate involvement of law enforcement.

Usually, narcissists get a name for being the “Trouble Makers” because of their manipulation, lies, spreading of gossip, guilt-tripping, and self-righteous superiority.

Even if other people at church start to notice the manipulative tactics of the narcissist, they will rarely inform the narcissist that they aren’t welcome anymore.

Church has an open door to everyone! Come as you are! All are welcome!

The narcissist thrives in this type of environment.
Regardless of their actions, they are usually tolerated (and avoided) by other church-goers.

3.) THEY LOVE USING THE BIBLE/QURAN AS A WEAPON

The religious narcissist LOVES using Bible/Quranic verses to their advantage.

The narcissist LOVES to talk about forgiveness and kindness. Twisting Bible/Quranic verses to meet their own selfish agenda is a favorite tactic!

Examples:

Matthew 5:39 “ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Luke 6:37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
If the people around he narcissist are not fully aware of their manipulative tactics, they may feel “convicted” or “guilted” into feeling bad for their negative feelings towards them.

Male narcissists often use Bible/Quranic verses to degrade, control, and sometimes abuse women.

They will quote verses about submission, obedience, silence, etc. They abuse the Bible/Quran to degrade women into lowering themselves into a place under their authority – referred to as “their proper place” by these sexist narcs.

In religious environments, women have always been easy targets. And the narcissist takes full advantage of this!

Regardless of what the narcissist does, their favorite weapon is FORGIVENESS.

They will quote Matthew 18:22, where Christ instructs His followers to forgive people “70×7”. With self-righteous indignation, the narcissist will remind you of your religious responsibility to forgive wrongdoings!

In other words, “No matter what I do to you or say about you, you have to forgive me!”

Related Article: What Does The Bible Say About Cutting People Off (Going No Contact)?

4.) CHURCH/Jammah IS AN AMAZING SOURCE OF GOSSIP

In church settings, people are often open and vulnerable about their personal lives.

During a smaller church service or a church class, the narcissist will often be able to hear about other’s family struggles, relationship issues, financial burdens, personal issues, etc.

The narcissist LOVES knowing other people’s vulnerabilities and weak spots! To them, this gives them power and leverage to be able to “play that person” for attention.

Later on, they may present themselves as someone who has “totally been there” and can help that person. This way they can talk and talk about themselves and all their experience, gaining a new source of attention (narcissistic supply).

Remember, the narcissist loves talking about themselves! Their conversation are usually full of the words “I”, “my”, and “me”!

If the person they are talking to wants to change the subject or talk about themselves, the narcissist is quick to interrupt and guide the conversation back to themselves.

On the other hand, they love to gossip about other people in the church!

“Did you know what happened to her the other day? Honestly, she brought it on herself!”

“Did you see what she was wearing? Basically asking to get assaulted!”

“I feel bad what happened to him, but he honestly deserved it. Not a good guy at all.”

Narcissists usually gets known as the “Trouble Makers” in the church, always spreading the latest gossip and presenting themselves as the SME (subject matter expert) on everything they hear about.

5.) THEY’VE GOT A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE

Jackpot for the narcissist!

Many churches give opportunities for their members to speak, pray out-loud, or teach a class.

This is the perfect opportunity for the narcissist to get some attention for themselves.

They will use these opportunities to talk about themselves, brag about their superior spirituality, talk about how many obstacles they have overcome, or even paint themselves out to be the victim of a specific circumstance.

Narcissistic pastors and spiritual leaders abuse their authority all the time by gaining attention, admiration, or even sympathy from their captive audience (the church members sitting in front of them).

6.) CHURCH IS AN AMAZING PLACE TO BE A VICTIM

Church is an incredible place to gain sympathy, assistance, and emotional support.

If no-one suspects the narcissist of playing the victim (for attention), they can gain a LOT of narcissistic supply.

“I’m so sorry that happened to you! You are such a wonderful person.”

“How could that person have hurt you so horribly? They will reap what they sow!”

“You poor thing! We are here to help you. If you need anything, just ask.”

There is nothing like a large group of people who will pity and sympathize with their “helpless victim” stories!

If people catch on to the narcissist’s manipulative tactics, it is easy for them to play the victim by saying, “I thought you wanted to help me! I trusted you!”

7.) CHURCH-HOPPING IS EASY

…although it can be difficult in a smaller town.

Once the narcissist builds a bad name in one church and ostracizes themselves from everyone, it is relatively easy for them to pick up and leave!

On to the next church/Jammah – aka source of narcissistic supply!

A whole new congregation of people to gain attention from, manipulate, gossip about, and play the victim to.

They can paint themselves in whatever light they want to! The victim, the saint, the professional, the spiritual leader, etc.

To the narcissist, there is no such thing as “enough attention”. They will go wherever they can gain as much admiration as possible.

Unfortunately, the church/Jammah is often a safe haven for the toxic behavior of the narcissist.

PoliticsNigeria’s Problem Is Not Corruption But Poverty And Narcissism. by akanke79(op):
Poverty is a state of being extremely poor whereby the poor are disempowered, subjugated and control by the rich and powerful in the society.Poverty is an artificial creation whereby resources are hoarded in the hands of mafia like individuals to dominate and subjugate others.

The poor feels intimidated by his lack of means and submit to the whims and dictates of the rich and powerful(elites). These elites come in form of religious leaders, businessmen, political leaders etc.

Prolonged period of poverty and hardship in a person’s life causes people to have a mental disorder called Narcissistic personality disorder in some cases.

As an poor individual, you begin to acclamatize with unnatural events and scarcity of resources like food, money, neccessaries.

The religious leaders always tell you,it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God but the keep piling up wealth to be in comfort every day of their lives. The founder nations of our religions live in abundance not in scarcity.

The effects of poverty is damaging to the mental state and mindset of an individual in the following ways.

1. When he is faced to make money whether legitimate or not,He focuses on the short term goals and not the consequences of their actions.
I.e drug trafficking and prostitution etc.

2.They will do whatever it takes to leave the social class of the downtrodden to climb the social ladder, they donot care about the price to pay for such.

3.Some lack empathy to fellow poor people i.e if a poor person should approach him for help for not eating for 2 days,he will see it as no big deal because he had to deal with such scenarios in the past.

Narcissitic personality disorder:
A disorder in which a person has an inflated sense of self-importance.
Narcissistic personality disorder is found more commonly in men. The cause is unknown but likely involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

Attributes Of A person suffering from Narcissistic personality disorder.

1. These narcissistic people have parasitic effects on society. They have the “entitlement mentality”.

2. When in charge of companies they commit fraud, demoralize employees, and devalue stock.

3.When in charge of countries they increase poverty, siphon Government funds, violence, and increase death rates.

4. Narcissists fit conventional stereotypes of leadership: Because of their ability to accumulate power and influence, narcissists enjoy a prominent spot in laypeople’s views about leadership. However, the idea that leaders must be overconfident, charismatic, or selfish in order to be effective is in stark contrast with reality. Yes, these characteristics help them emerge as leaders, but they are also the cause of their dishonest and incompetent behaviors once they get to the top. Whether in sports, business, education or politics, effective leadership requires building high-performing teams and, when it comes to that, the critical ingredients for success are competence rather than confidence, altruism rather than egotism, and integrity rather than charisma. In other words, the real essence of good leadership is the exact opposite of what the Hollywood version of leadership implies. Until we understand this, we will unfortunately continue to invite narcissists to the top while overlooking more competent and healthier alternatives.

5.Narcissists manipulate credit and blame in their favor: Through a mix of shameless self-promotion and a guilt-free, Machiavellian agenda, narcissists are quick to take credit for others’ achievements and blame colleagues and subordinates for their own failures. As Ben Dattner notes, narcissistic managers “lead with the main purpose of receiving personal credit or glory. When things go wrong or they make mistakes, they deny or distort information and ‘rewrite history’ in order to avoid getting blamed.” What makes narcissists so effective at this is their complete conviction that they are actually special. In Dattner’s words: “they believe that they deserve credit for simply being who they are, regardless of their actual contributions or achievements.” Such delusions of grandeur allow narcissists to be more effective manipulators than individuals who are politically savvy but inhibited by their inability to distort reality or morality in their favor. It is always easier to fool others when you have already fooled yourself; it is always harder to feel guilty when you think you are innocent.

Corruption is a symptom of Decadent Nigerian society while poverty and narcissism is the root causes of Nigeria’s problem.
