Ivory Coast's authorities say a majority of 21 children kidnapped in recent weeks have been found dead with their bodies mutilated, raising fears of a wave of ritual sacrifices ahead of elections.

Most of the children were found dead, mutilated, decapitated and without their genitals in various parts of Ivory Coast since December, police said.

“The phenomenon is real and unusual. Our services have registered 21 cases,” said police chief, Brindou M'Bia.

Security forces have been placed on high alert over the recent spate of child abductions, M'Bia added.

Many residents fear the ritualistic-style killings are linked to the presidential and possibly legislative elections scheduled to take place toward the end of the year.

The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) has urged authorities to do everything possible to identify those responsible for the abductions.

Another spate of child abductions hit the country ahead of elections in 2010.

Adam Koessler: 60,000 sign petition in support of father facing jail for giving dying daughter cannabis oil

The father wanted to ease the pain of his cancer daughter. He claims that cannabis dose helped. Now he risks imprisonment. But 60,000 have signed a petition to free him.

Australians Adam Koessler was arrested earlier in January after giving cannabis to his two year old daughter. The girl has cancer and the father says that he could clearly see how the drug had an analgesic effect.

- She said, 'Daddy, stomach does not hurt,' and she could eat considerably and began to gain weight. Her energy increased and she wanted to go out with me instead of lying on your back with legs in the air, he says Newcastle Herald.

He went with his daughter to Brisbane that her daughter would receive additional treatment, but was arrested at the hospital on January 2, for drug possession and for giving drugs to a minor.

In pretrial, he initially did not meet his daughter, whose condition deteriorated since cannabis cessation of therapy. She is now treated in intensive care.

The event has received groups who want to legalize the use of cannabis to react. Over 60,000 have signed a petition to get politicians to help Adam Koessler. On the site where the petition is made states, inter alia:

In addition, there is a special Facebook page to support her father, the page has 36,000 fans. In another bizarre food experiment showcasing the many abnormal traits of modern processed food, a Walmart-brand ice cream sandwich survived for 12 hours in the sun without melting at all. This led Christie Watson, a suburban Cincinnati mother of two, to replicate the experiment to see if what she was seeing was in fact real, comparing different ice cream brands. Not surprisingly, the Walmart brand still kept its form, while other more expensive ice cream brands melted at least partially, if not completely.

Walmart responded quickly to protect itself from public ridicule, claming that the lack of melting was due to the heavy cream content of their ice-cream sandwich. However, Sean O’Keefe, a professor and food chemist at Virginia Tech, gave a different answer, explaining that more cream-content should see ice cream melting faster.

As expected, the reason for this bizarre outcome revolves around processed ingredients used to make the sandwich. Various thickeners and food stabilizers such as guar and cellulose gum, carrageenan, and more are the reason the ice cream didn’t melt.

While food manufacturers state many processed food ingredients are safe, research says otherwise. Many chemical preservatives have been linked to cancer, allergic reactions, and more.

In numerous animal studies carrageenan has been found to cause gastrointestinal issues and inflammation, and cancer. In addition, diets high in carrageenan have been linked to the development of intestinal ulcers and other digestive issues. The Cornucopia Institute (a nonprofit which supports food research and “justice for family scale farming”) recommends anyone with inflammatory digestive issues like chronic diarrhea, IBS, or inflammatory bowel disease, to eliminate carrageenan from their diet altogether.

Refined sugars and other carbohydrates are another issue that lead to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and much more. Processed foods are also robbed of their nutrients, fiber, water and natural enzymes, making them more difficult to digest.

Paris attacks: Jean-Marie Le Pen says French terror attacks were work of Western intelligence


The Charlie Hebdo massacre may have been the work of an “intelligence agency”, working with the connivance of French authorities, according to Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the far right Front National.
In an interview with a virulently anti-Western Russian newspaper, Mr Le Pen, 86, gave credence to conspiracy theories circulating on the internet suggesting that the attack was the work of American or Israeli agents seeking to foment a civil war between Islam and the West.

His comments – only partially retracted in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde today – provoked outrage amongst French politicians. They will also infuriate Marine Le Pen, his daughter, and successor as leader of the FN, who has been trying to distance the party from her father’s extreme and provocative remarks.

Mr Le Pen stood down as FN leader three years ago but remains President-for-life. He made the comments in an interview with Komsomolskaïa Pravda , a newspaper which had already blamed the United States for the terrorist mayhem in France.


“The shooting at Charlie Hebdo resembles a secret service operation but we have no proof of that,” the newspaper quoted Mr Le Pen as saying. “I don’t think it was organised by the French authorities but they permitted this crime to be committed. That, for the moment, is just a supposition.”
To justify his comments, Mr Le Pen pointed to the fact that one of the Kouachi brothers, who carried out the Charlie Hebdo massacre, left his identity card in a crashed getaway car. He compared this to the “miraculous fact” – beloved by conspiracy theorists – that one of the passports of the 9/11 hijackers was found on the ground in New York after two planes collided with the twin towers of the World Trade Centre in 2001.


Mr Le Pen made two other provocative remarks in the interview. He said that the 1,500,000 who marched “against hatred” in Paris last Sunday were not “Charlies” but “Charlie Chaplins” (ie clowns). He also said that there were 15,000,00 to 20,000,000 Muslims in France – three or four times the generally accepted figures of 5,000,000 people who are practising Muslims or have Muslim backgrounds.

In an interview with Le Monde today, Mr Le Pen repeated his suspicions about the identity card but said he “could not recall” talking about “secret services” to the Russian newspaper.

Mr Le Pen’s original quoted remarks run directly counter to the official line of his daughter and his party. They have suggested that the attacks on Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket are the final proof that France faces an “enemy within”, which has been created by immigration and open EU borders.

Conspiracy theories of the kind espoused by the elder Le Pen sprang up on the internet within hours of the Charlie Hebdo attacks. They have been repeated in recent days by some – not all - young Muslims in France, torn between identifying with the Kouachi brothers and insisting that they were stooges of the French authorities, Washington and Israel.

The French “pope of conspiracy theories”, Thierry Meyssan, now based in Damascus, insisted that the Charlie Hebdo massacres were “ordered by US neo-cons and liberal hawks”. An American conspiracy site, McLatchy, has claimed that the Kouachi brothers were working for French intelligence.

Breast cancer has been linked particularly to consumption of milk and cheese."

On Feb 11th, 2009, CBS News reported, "Link Eyed Between Beef And Cancer." In feed lots across the country, beef cattle are given growth hormones to make them fatter faster, to save money. Now questions are being raised about one of the most widely-used hormones, Zeranol, a synthetic estrogen implanted in cattle. A series of tests done for the Pentagon show a possible link between breast cancer and Zeranol.

Cooking with gas raises risk of lung cancer

The aroma of seared meat as your pan-fried steak is prepared may set your tastebuds tingling – but it may also give the chef cancer, especially if they are using a gas cooker.

Cooking fumes produced during high-temperature frying are already known to cause cancer. In China, high lung cancer rates among chefs have been linked to the practice of tossing food in a wok, often in a confined space, which increases the concentration of hot oil in the breathing zone of the cook.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has also classified cooking fumes as "probably carcinogenic". Now researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim have compared gas and electric cooking methods, and found that gas produces higher levels of the cancer-causing fumes

They measured the fumes produced when frying 17 pieces of steak for 15 minutes each in conditions typical of Western restaurants, using margarine or two different brands of soya oil. The results showed more naphthalene – a banned substance contained in traditional mothballs – and mutagenic aldehydes were produced when cooking with gas. Higher levels of ultrafine particles, which penetrate deeper into the lung, were also produced on the gas hob than on the electric one.

The authors, whose study is published in the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine, point out that the levels of the chemicals and particulates found in their study were below accepted occupational safety thresholds. But they add that cooking fumes contain other harmful components for which there is no safety threshold, as yet, and which appear to be higher with gas cooking. "Exposure to cooking fumes should be reduced as much as possible," they say

Cooking fumes are thought to cause lung cancer, as well as cancers of the bladder and cervix. Previous research has found that cancer levels are higher among chefs who did not have fume extractors in their kitchens than among those who did.

Although smoking is the main cause of lung cancer in most countries, in Taiwan only 10 per cent of women with lung cancer smoke. By comparison, 86 per cent of Taiwanese men with lung cancer smoke. Researchers suggest that it is exposure to cooking fumes that accounts for the high rates of lung cancer in women, despite their low smoking rates. A study by researchers from the Institute of Medicine at Kaohsiung University in Taiwan published in the American Journal of Epidemiology in 2000 found that the longer women spent cooking food the higher the risk of lung cancer. Those who cooked on a daily basis had the highest risk. Women who waited until the oil was very hot before cooking the food increased their risk compared with those who cooked at a lower temperature.

Kenya has deregistered 510 non-governmental organisations (NGOs), including 15 accused of links with terrorism, an official has said.

The government has also frozen their bank accounts and revoked the work permits of foreign employees.

The move follows a heated debate in Kenya over a controversial new security bill aimed at fighting militants.

The al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab group has been increasingly targeting Kenya for attack.

The organisations had been deregistered because of their failure to submit financial records, said Henry Ochido, the deputy head of the government-appointed NGO Co-ordination Board, which oversees their activities.

Many of them appear to be aid agencies and charities which failed to provide financial audit returns, AFP news agency reports.

Several of them seem to be Christian organisations, orphanages or groups working in the areas of health and development, it adds.

"The NGOs with accounting issues can only be allowed to operate if they successfully go through a thorough vetting process. Otherwise, they will remain deregistered indefinitely," Fazul Mahamed, the executive director of the board, is quoted by Kenya's privately owned Standard newspaper as saying.

International medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is on a separate list of 12 organisations which has been given 21 days to submit audited financial statements, correspondents say.

MSF said in response that it had complied with all "reporting obligations" and it was in contact with the board "to clear up any misunderstanding".

Last week, Kenya's parliament passed a bill which gave security and intelligence agencies wide-ranging powers, including:

the right to detain terror suspects for up to one year
to tap communications without court consent
and the requirement for journalists to obtain police permission before investigating or publishing stories on domestic terrorism and security issues.
Al-Shabab has killed 64 people in two attacks in the north-eastern Mandera region since last month.

Non-Muslims were singled out and shot dead in an attack on quarry workers and bus commuters.

Last year, 67 people were killed when four gunmen took over the Westgate shopping centre in Nairobi.

Former pastor on marijuana: "If you believe in God, you have to believe in cannabis"

"If you believe in God, you have to believe in cannabis," former pastor Al Pollard said.

"It's a plant."

Al Pollard is a bright-eyed, exuberant paraplegic who is on a mission to educate Mississippians about marijuana. He wants it to be legalized, taxed and regulated.

"It's God's medicine," he said.

At age 18, Pollard became paralyzed in a diving accident. He says that during the first 6 months of his accident, he was prescribed to more than twelve medicines per day, including prescription pain narcotics.

After leaving physical therapy, he replaced the prescription drugs with marijuana use.

"I recently came clean with my doctor, telling her I've never taken medicine since my release from rehab. She was shocked, but believed me. I told her marijuana is my medicine and that it helps me," he said.

"Maintaining a moderate use has proven to be the cause of my healthy condition."

Pollard has a prescription for marijuana in California.

"Being a pastor and using cannabis didn't sit well with me, but now that God has freed me to its use, I want to help others understand and become free to the use of cannabis."

He says pot remedies every negative aspect of his life.

"That's what it's doing to me-- I don't have spasms, I sleep better, my bowels are more firm, I've lost weight. When I go on long trips it helps control my bladder," he said.

"I asked my doctor why I should be on something that has side effects when there's a medicine out there without side effects."

He says that's why he's pushing for legalization.

Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage

The Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage is an operation done to place a surgical suture around the cervix at its uppermost part near the transition with the uterine body. This level cannot be reached from the vagina therefore the abdominal approach.

Historically, the procedure was initially performed as an open Transabdominal Cerclage through an incision similar to the one used to perform a caesarean section.

With the advance of new technologies and the ability to safely perform more complex laparoscopic surgery, this approach has been used to perform the Abdominal Cerclage in a less invasive and less traumatic manner.

The Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage is used to treat cases of Cervical Insufficiency where the Transvaginal Cerclage has failed or is not possible. This may happen because the cervix is too short, too irregular or in cases of previous surgery to the cervix to treat cervical cancer or dysplasia. The procedure is also known as Laparoscopic Cerclage, Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage and Laparoscopic Cervico-isthmic Cerclage.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage indicated?

Each case is different and should be assessed individually as to whether there is an indication for the procedure.

A Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage should be considered as possible treatment if:

- There is a consistent history of Cervical Insufficiency, i.e., cervical dilatation and subsequent fetal loss or premature delivery in the absence of uterine activity.

- A Transvaginal Cerclage done in a previous pregnancy failed to correct the problem.

- The cervix is short or very irregular, usually after surgical procedures such as cone biopsies and previous Transvaginal Cerclage.

When is the Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage performed?

The preferable time to perform the cerclage is when the woman is not pregnant. This is known as pre-pregnancy cerclage or interval procedure. The advantages are that the uterus is smaller, has less blood vessels and can be easily manipulated. Some women only find out that they need a Transabdominal cerclage once they are already pregnant. In this case the operation can be done during pregnancy up until around 12 weeks gestation.

How is the operation done?

The laparoscopy is done with 4 small incisions, about 0.5 cm each; one just below the umbilicus and the other three on the side of the abdomen. A camera is inserted through the umbilical incision and surgical instruments through the other ones.

The surgeon dissects the spaces around the cervix and then places a suture around the upper part of the cervix medial to the uterine arteries. The suture is then tied at the back of the uterus.

How much experience is there with the operation?

There is a fair amount of evidence in the medical literature. Several groups around the world are performing the Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage and reporting good outcomes.

There are a few difficulties in producing statistically significant data.

The main reasons are:

- Abdominal and Laparoscopic cerclages are still done in small numbers and no one surgeon or hospital has done hundreds of cases.

- Different surgeons may use slightly different techniques or suture materials and outcomes in different centres may vary.

- Studies comparing transabdominal cerclage with transvaginal cerclage are difficult to conduct as there may be ethical or emotional constraints. We are usually dealing with high risk patients and random selection of cerclage technique is not always possible.

What type of anaesthesia is used?

All laparoscopic procedures are done under general anaesthesia including the Laparoscopic Cerclage.

How long will I stay in hospital?

Most women go home on the same day, especially if the procedure is done early in the morning. Some women stay overnight and go home the following morning.

How long do I need of work?

This may vary depending on individual recovery. Most women are back to work within ten days.

How long after the operation can I start trying for a pregnancy?

After six weeks or two periods you should be able to start trying.

Will it be more difficult for me to fall pregnant again if I have a suture around the cervix?

No. The suture is external to the cervix and does not interfere with the sperm, the egg or the couple’s ability to fall pregnant.

How will my baby be delivered?

The Transabdominal Cerclage is not removed and the baby is always delivered by Caesarean Section.

What happens if I have an early miscarriage?

If necessary one can have a suction curettage much the same way as if there was no suture. The suture is not that tight and it is possible to dilate the cervix and insert the curette.

What are the complications of a Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage?

Complications and surgical risks are similar to other laparoscopic procedures. These are rare but can happen and include: excessive bleeding, infection and damage to nearby organs such as bladder, bowel and large vessels.

What suture material is used for the Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage?

We use Prolene™, a polypropylene synthetic non-absorbable suture manufactured by Ethicon. It is chosen because of its strength and resistance. It is used in several other procedures such as brain, heart and eye surgery. It has very low infection, allergy and rejection rates.

What is the success of the Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclage?

The procedure has been very successful with Obstetric outcomes reported in the literature between 85% and 100%.

As of June 30th 2013, Dr Ades has performed 75 Laparoscopic Transabdominal Cerclages. 5 were done during pregnancy and 70 before pregnancy. There are 30 reported pregnancies in this series. 96% of patients had a live baby. 86% of pregnancies were delivered after 34 weeks. In most cases where there was an early delivery, there was a cause not related to the suture, such as congenital problems, gestational diabetes or placenta praevia. Most pregnancies were completely uneventful and did not require bed rest or other measures.

What happens if I want to fall pregnant again in the future?

The suture stays around the cervix and subsequent pregnancies can be attempted without any further operations.

While a healthy diet and alternative medicines, such as Essiac tea and vitamin supplements, were successful in improving Mr Smith’s overall health, he was still in excruciating pain as the cancer continued to spread.

It was then that they resorted to using cannabis oil to treat his cancer - risking prison by possessing large quantities of the drug.

The couple, from Derby, made the controversial decision after discovering a popular pro-cannabis film called ‘Run From The Cure’, which claimed the class B drug could be used as a cure.

The couple got in contact with a legal manufacturer of cannabis oil in the USA, who agreed to supply Mr Smith with the drug.

The couple arranged to pick up 60 grams of cannabinoid, an edible compound of the plant containing 65 per cent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - the psychoactive compound in marijuana -in the UK.

Research published last month by the University of East Anglia found THC has been shown to help combat the growth of cancerous cells.

Dr Kat Arney, Cancer Research UK’s science communications manager, told MailOnline: 'We know that cannabinoids – the active chemicals found in cannabis – can have a range of different effects on cancer cells grown in the lab and animal tumours.

'But at the moment there isn’t good evidence from clinical trials to prove that they can safely and effectively treat cancer in patients.

'Despite this, we are aware that some cancer patients do choose to treat themselves with cannabis extracts.

'These stories can help researchers build a picture of whether these treatments are helping or not, although this is weak evidence compared to properly-run clinical trials.

Although doctors can prescribe the drug to named cancer patients to treat nausea and vomiting, the possession of cannabinoid is prohibited under UK law and can carry a prison sentence of up to five years.
Mr Smith said: 'It wasn’t a case of I had no respect for the law, I was fighting to save my life.

'At that point, I would have risked everything to beat the cancer. 'These options have always been there, even in the UK, but the medical system has kept it from everyone.

'I never really gave it a second thought; I was in a race against time, so I had to roll the dice.'

His wife, an artist, added: 'I would have done anything to give my husband the treatment he needed.

'Even if I was caught, what would they do? Send me to prison for trying to treat my dying husband?

'The only thing in my mind was saving my husband from chemo, radiation and radical surgery - not my freedom.'

The couple, who have been married for 33 years, planned to carry out the treatment, which included feeding Mr Smith 60 grams of cannabis oil, over a period of ten weeks.

The father-of-three, who had no previous experience of taking the drug, said: 'The effects were quite shocking.'

His wife said: 'Initially, Trevor reacted very badly to the cannabis oil.

'Neither of us had ever used any recreational drugs, so we weren’t aware of the effects it had.

'At first, it made him very sleepy and non-responsive - both conversationally and physically.

'He would sleep for up to 12 hours at night. It was one of the hardest things we have ever gone through.'

Mrs Smith has since written a book called Taking Control: My Journey of Alternative Healing by Alyssia Sade.

Research led by Dr Wai Liu, at St George’s University in London, suggests that cannabinoids possess anti-cancer properties which help to stem the growth of malignant tumours.

We have contacted the WHO in Bangkok about this situation and the Akha being told they had to take the vaccine, and we were told that medical practicalities being considered by the local health officials may override "human rights issues". Quite shocking.

US government to send states' National Guard forces to Ebola-stricken West Africa
Sending America's military men and women directly to the front lines in West Africa apparently isn't enough for the Ministry of Ebola Propaganda. The government reportedly also wants to take away our last line of defense here at home, the National Guard, and place them directly in harm's way on the ground in the Ebola hot zone.

A local news affiliate in Ohio, for instance, reports that roughly 130 soldiers from a National Guard unit in Columbus will be deployed to West Africa in April, while the California Army National Guard has been told to mobilize its members for deployment. All across the country, in fact, National Guard units are reportedly being instructed to ready the troops to soon be deployed to West Africa.

I don't know about you, but the last time I checked, Liberia and Sierra Leone aren't part of the U.S. The National Guard, as its name implies, is for protecting our nation, not fulfilling the political agenda of a fear-induced invasion of diamond-and-oil-rich West Africa. And yet these faithful men and women who should be actively gutting D.C. of all the crime and treason taking place there will instead be expanding the American empire abroad.

"The deployment will support Operation United Assistance, the U.S. government's mission supporting civilian-led humanitarian efforts in countries affected by the Ebola outbreak," reports the Dayton Daily News. "All service members deploying to West Africa receive training, protective equipment and medical threat briefings."


Six National Guard battalions ordered to mobilize for deployment to West Africa
In California, the 223rd Military Intelligence Battalion, located in San Francisco, has been ordered to prepare for "involuntary mobilization," a.k.a. forced deployment. At least five other battalions across the country have also been ordered to prepare for quick deployment to the hot zone.

According to The Associated Press (AP), some 1,200 National Guard soldiers will be deployed as part of the effort, which is not supposed to involve direct treatment of Ebola patients. Instead, the National Guard troops will provide Ebola "training," according to the AP, as well as malaria prevention and "medical readiness."

"Because it is a new mission, there is anxiety, but morale is high," stated Colonel Kevin Olson, spokesman for the Minnesota National Guard, to the Star Tribune. Minnesota is one of at least 13 states planning to send National Guard troops to West Africa.

"We are confident in our equipment and in our training, and in the discipline in our force. That will help make sure our people accomplish our mission without putting our nation, our state and our forces at unnecessary risk."

USA Today says the 1,200 National Guard troops who will be joining the nearly 3,000 military men and women already on the ground there will come from a multitude of states besides Ohio, California and Minnesota. These states include Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Maryland, Georgia, Illinois, Florida and Wisconsin.

Each of the battalions was carefully chosen based on its unique abilities to handle the assigned mission. Collectively, the 1,200 troops from these battalions will represent the second round of U.S. deployment to West Africa, the first of which is already handling logistics, engineering, construction, and command and control support for the U.S.-led operation.

Before coming back to the U.S., all soldiers and reservists will undergo a 21-day "controlled monitoring period" to look for Ebola infection, according to the Army.

Thoughts of Blogger:

First, Angelo has my highest respect and deepest sympathy. His decision to stay with his new wife “in sickness and in health” is nothing short of heroic. This man, like so many spouses of patients, is the epitome of love in action. I can’t imagine what he went through watching the love of his life slowly fade away… My heart breaks for him.

Second, I’ve gained some notoriety for speaking out against about “cancer awareness and research” charities like Susan G Komen, but any cancer charity that gives money directly to patients is one I support, assuming they are being good stewards of the funds they raise. Putting money directly into the hands of cancer patients and their families does real, measurable good. I am so glad to see that Angelo has a heart for this.

Third, Angelo’s photo essay has been reposted on many sites, but none have addressed the elephant in the room…

Cancer did not destroy this beautiful woman.

Conventional cancer treatment did.

Now let me be clear. I’m not implying that cancer does not kill people. It does. But the treatment is often worse than the disease, and does more harm than good.

Jennifer’s story mirrors many who are diagnosed with cancer. Patients are typically rushed into treatment with no idea how destructive and ineffective it is. And how much suffering is involved. They are not told that the body can heal, only that they have to “battle and fight cancer”, a warfare narrative created to help people accept that they must endure brutal, conventional cut-poison-burn treatments. And like warfare, it often ends tragically.

Patients are also not told that chemotherapy only contributes 2.1% toward 5-year survival on average. In Jennifer’s case, the absolute survival benefit at 5 years for chemotherapy in women under 50 with breast cancer was shown to be 6.8% for node-positive and 3% for node-negative women.

They are not told that chemotherapy can backfire and boost cancer growth.

They are not told whether their treatment is meant to be curative or just pallative, and often have unrealistic expectations that they can beat the odds and be cured, when the doctors know they can’t. Patients are unknowingly hoping for a “medical miracle”.

Patients are told that chemotherapy will “extend their life”, which is why they agree to do it,
but they don’t know that the side effects of chemotherapy are often downplayed and that researchers spin their results.

They don’t know that oncologists are some of the highest-paid doctors because more than half of their income comes from selling and administering chemotherapy drugs. They actually profit off the drugs that they insist you take.

They don’t know that the cancer industry has made very little progress in lowering the death rate or increasing the survival rate for most cancers. The cancer death rate has only improved 5% on average since 1950. And 5-year survival has only improved 5% on average since 1970. The exceptions are fairly uncommon cancers: some leukemias, some lymphomas, and testicular cancer.

I hear and read tragic stories just like Jennifer’s every day. My inbox is full of them.

As a result of conventional cancer treatments, someone very close to me is now an invalid with dementia requiring 24-hour care. She is confined to a wheelchair, unable to feed, clothe, or bathe herself, and doesn’t communicate most of the time.

I’ve thought about posting a collection of cautionary tales for some time, but I wasn’t sure how.
I think this post is an appropriate forum for that and I’m looking forward to reading your thoughts and comments.
