Onegig and others, pls I've got a little ish with my laptop. It's a Brian Laptop.

When I power on, it gives a long and high beep sound that I have to depress any key to make it stop.

I also will have to press a key before it boots
After that, it functions well. All keys work as they should.

But after few seconds of booting, ALL keys cease.
I won't be able to use the laptop at all
Any clue?
The mouse also sticks.....bought an external mouse. Same problem

But it works well when I boot in safe mode

bigt2:
the problem should be either from a malfunctioning driver, or a startup program, virus, or malware. Try logging into safe mode, then run msconfig, go to the startup tab and disable all the startup programs. Now reboot normally. If it works, then you'll have to enable them one by one till you figure out which one's faulty. Got my drift?

bigt2:
depress the windows logo key on your keyboard and press r,
type msconfig into the dialog box, then hit enter.
Follow the remaining steps as stated earlier. Goodluck

This laptop bas been like this for a year....it got to a point I abandoned it. running my Masters programme now, I think I need it more than before.

I took it to Brian service Centre on Allen Avenue, the guy said it's a keyboard problem. He changed the keyboard but the problem persisted.

He later said it's a motherboard issue and that another would gulp #30,000 from my pocket.

I told him to couple it back......

That was how I left the place.

When bigt2 gave his diagnosis, I was reluctant to carry it out cus I don't want to be met with another disappointment.

It was Onegig 's mention that spurred me on to give it a try.

And alas.....i was able to disable all those startups, it worked.

I discover whenever I power it on, it gives a continuous high beep. I will have to press a key to make it stop.

when it fully boots, after few minutes, the mouse and the keyboard freeze. none works.
