Boocee: Good day Profs,
Please my thermocool oga6900RS has refused to start, every attempt to start it manually comes with a sound like gunshots.
For a long while, I've been unable to start the gen with the remote, I was told it's the battery, but I can put it off with the remote. Yesterday I just tried to start it with the remote control, it started and I put it off almost immediately, it was after that, that I've been unable to start it manually, it shoots when I start it.
Please what could be wrong. Also what kind of battery do I buy to replace it? Or could the battery be recharged?
Thank you. For the shooting sound, when was the last time the oil was changed? Then, check the plug to be sure it isn't clogged. |

Politics › Abdurrahman Sumaila: No Nigerian'll Support Igbo Presidency by Akell(op): 7:44am On Jun 03, 2021 |
A former Special Assistant to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), on Assembly Matters, Abdurrahman Sumaila, says right-thinking Nigerians won’t endanger their lives to support the candidature of any South-East politician vying for presidency in 2023. Sumaila made this known in a statement he issued to newsmen in Kano on Thursday. “With these atrocities committed by the South-East people on record, how can Nigerians entrust them to govern us? I am sure not a single right-thinking Nigerian will endanger his life to support the candidature of any South-East politician contesting for presidency come 2023 general elections,” he said. He also noted that it has now become clear that the motive behind the attacks is to turn the country into anarchy, regretting that “the perpetrators of the attacks must understand that if the country is turned chaotic, then nobody including the perpetrators can escape”. He, therefore, urged elders in the South-East to publicly denounce the ongoing attacks by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra or be considered complicit in the dastardly act. The ex-presidential aide said until the Southern elite make their position definite, Nigerians would consider them part and parcel of the attacks being carried out in the region by armed militia. “The elite in the South-East should borrow a leaf from their northern counterparts such as Arewa Consultative Forum and Northern Elders Forum, who have been persistently condemning the activities of Boko Haram fighters and bandits in the North,” he said. https://punchng.com/why-no-right-thinking-nigerianll-support-igbo-presidential-candidate-ex-buharis-aide/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

Education › Tuition Hike Unavoidable To Keep KASU Afloat – Kaduna by Akell(op): 7:20am On Jun 03, 2021 |
The Kaduna State Government on Wednesday insisted on the hike of tuition fees for the Kaduna State University.
The proposed fee had generated controversy leading to student protests.
But the state deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, said the increment was painful but necessary because “it is the only way that the institution can stay afloat.”
The deputy governor was quoted to have made the statement when representatives of the students met with senior government officials over the hike in tuition fees.
“We understand the pain, we are also pained but sometimes, some decisions are taken for the betterment of the generality of the people.
“We want you to be proud that you went to one of the best schools. We want Kaduna state students to hold their heads high wherever they might be and be proud to represent Kaduna.’’
The deputy governor further said the state government was spending about N5bn on KASU as the N26,000 that students were paying was not enough to pay lecturers for three months.
Speaking during the meeting, Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Malam Balarabe Lawal, pointed out that university education in the country was collapsing because of inadequate funding.
The Chief of Staff, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi advised the students’ representatives “to go back and discuss with your colleagues and get them to see reasons.”
Earlier, the student representatives said KASU tuition fee was too high.
They said did not want “total reversal, but a 50 per cent increase is ok. At the old rate of N27,000, not many people can afford it.”

Politics › USAID, UNICEF Spend ₦4.1 Billion For Water, Sanitation In Nigeria by Akell(op): 12:48am On Jun 03, 2021 |
The United States Agency International Development has awarded $10m (N4.1bn) over three years to United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund to support the Nigerian government’s initiative to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states in the Northwest.
The USAID initiative in partnership with UNICEF, was aimed at providing safe water, hygiene and improved sanitation to more than 300,000 people in Northwest Nigeria.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Mission Director, USAID, Dr Anne Patterson, said such would help reduce water borne diseases, especially among children.
She said, “USAID is dedicated to ensuring clean water for more Nigerians. This new activity with UNICEF will help reduce waterborne diseases to keep more people, especially children, healthy.”
UNICEF’s Country Representative for Nigeria, Peter Hawkins, also said, “We are extremely grateful for the timely and much-needed WASH support from the US government. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with prevailing challenges and gaps in WASH services in northwest Nigeria is detrimental to the development of children and rural communities. This assistance is a testament to USAID’s commitment to the children and people of Nigeria.”
The 2019 National Outcome Routine Mapping of WASH services said 30 per cent of Nigerians lacked access to basic water services and less than 10 per cent had access to safe water. It added that while 44 per cent of Nigerians had access to basic sanitation services, 23 per cent or 46 million people, lacked access to proper sanitation.
It stated that in Nigeria, Sokoto and Kebbi states had the lowest levels of access to basic water services at 38 per cent and 39 per cent, respectively. https://punchng.com/usaid-unicef-spend-n4-1bn-for-water-sanitation-in-nigeria/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

Crime › Kukah: We Know Those Behind Killings by Akell(op): 12:40am On Jun 03, 2021 |
The Catholic Bishop of the Sokoto diocese, Matthew Kukah, has faulted the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for its refusal to declare bandits as a terrorist group.
Kukah, in his homily at the burial of Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Bello, which held at Our Lady of Apostle Catholic Church Independence Way, Kaduna, on Wednesday, also said Nigerian leaders had no blood in their hearts.
“Those who govern us are allowing this killing of citizens in their innocency because they have no blood in their hearts,” Kukah said.
The late Bello was kidnapped alongside Rev. Fr. Joseph Keke and murdered by bandits on May 21, 2021, in Katsina.
The cleric noted that there was nowhere in the world where killings of human beings were so manifested as it was in Nigeria.
Kukah said, “There is nowhere citizens can be slaughtered in the whole world without the government showing empathy and concern.
“The continuous barbaric slaughter and murder of our people in their innocency suggests that our beautiful Presidential Villa, National Assembly, government houses, are not evidence of civilization.
“How did Nigeria come to this tragic situation? We know who they are, who they believe in and where their inspiration comes from. The government has never declared the kidnappers to be a terrorist group.
“There is no ambiguity about those who are killing our people and why they are doing so and where their inspiration comes from. We hear and live with stories of complicity at the highest level. We as Christians can only rely on the faithful Word of God.
“Is it possible that you have a country where people have sworn with Qur’an and Bible to uphold the principles of governance that they will do everything within their power to protect and defend the integrity of Nigerians and suddenly we are where we are today?”
He added, “I think the President and governors of Nigeria should address Nigerians and say, fellow Nigerians I have sworn that I will not protect you from foreign invaders, kidnappers and being killed.
“You are on your own. Your security is in your own hands. Keeping you safe is not our immediate priority. Foreign bandits or anyone can come at will kill, loot, rape, kidnap and murder you. They can wipe out your communities, destroy your homes, your farmlands, property.
“They can kidnap or murder your children at will. They can rustle your cattle. If they kidnap your children, wives or husbands, we will consider you criminals for negotiating for their release. We are preparing a law that could see you go to jail for 15 years for this heinous crime against your fatherland.”

Politics › Illegal Structures: Wike Threatens Demolition Of Trespassers’ Houses by Akell(op): 12:30am On Jun 03, 2021 |
GOVERNOR of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to dethrone traditional rulers who sold employment slots meant for their subjects.
This is as he ordered the demolition of illegal markets along Elele Alimini and Ahoada Town axis of the East-West Road in the state.
The governor in a statement issued by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, directed all engaged in illegal activities in the area to quit because every standing structure at those places would be demolished with effect from Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
Wike handed down the warning during the flag-off of construction work at the Ahoada Campus of Rivers State University and the dualisation of Ahoada-Omoku Road in Ahoada Town on Tuesday.
“Let me tell you, the state government has not authorised any market from that Ahoada Junction on East-West Road, keeping to your right and going back to Port Harcourt. Everything there is illegal structure.
“It doesn’t matter who owns them. Whether you come from the South, East, West or North, if you have any of those illegal market structures, from that junction down to Elele Alimini, I’ll bring all of them down.
“I did not authorise any market and nobody can build market on the road. Not even a local government can do that. So, all of you, who have been going to them to collect tolls from them, be prepared. No market must be on the East-West Road,” he said.
The governor also warned trespassers, who built private residences within the Western Ahaoda County High School, Ahoada, to await the demolition team from the state government on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
“I have warned you several times and most of you think that nothing will happen. From next week Wednesday, anybody that has private residence built within the Western Ahoada County High School, I will bring it down. The land belongs to government and we will not pay any compensation,” he emphasised.
Speaking further, Governor Wike described as shameful the news of some traditional rulers who sell employment chances meant for their subjects to satisfy their selfish interests. https://punchng.com/wike-threatens-demolition-of-trespassers-houses-warns-monarchs/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

Crime › Kenneth Amukamara: Imo Youth Leader Assassinated, House Burnt, Cars Vandalised by Akell(op): 6:30am On Jun 02, 2021 |
Gunmen suspected to be assassins, on Tuesday, killed the Peoples Democratic Party youth leader in the Oru-East Local Government Area of Imo State, Kenneth Amukamara.
The hoodlums also burnt Kenneth’s house and damaged the vehicles of his brother, who is said to be a retired soldier.
The incident, which happened at Umuokwe, Eziawo 1, in the local government area, heightened tension in the area.
A journalist, Don Uba, who spoke on the killing of the youth leader, said residents of the area were in panic.
Uba said, “The Peoples Democratic Party youth leader in the Oru-East LGA, Kenneth Amukamara, was assassinated this morning (Tuesday) in his country home.
“His house was set ablaze too. Efforts made to confirm the ugly incident from the Imo State PDP Youth Leader, Greg Nwadike, who travelled to Abuja for an official assignment, proved abortive as of the time of making this post.
“Information had it that his elder brother was targeted too for assassination, but he was able to escape as he is a retired military officer. Kenneth’s house and vehicles were not spared as they were set ablaze and vandalised.”
The PDP State Youth Leader, Greg Nwadike, said in a statement on Tuesday that apart from killing Kenneth, the assailants also set the deceased’s house on fire.
Nwadike said the party, especially the youth wing, was saddened by the killing. https://punchng.com/imo-pdp-youth-leader-assassinated-house-burnt-vehicles-vandalised/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

Crime › Bandits Confirm Kidnap Of 156 Niger Pupils, Demand ₦110 Million by Akell(op): 12:50am On Jun 02, 2021 |
Bandits who kidnapped pupils of the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School in Tegina town in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have contact with the management of the institution.
The bandits contacted the school headmaster, Alhaji Abubakar Alhassan, around 4pm on Monday, asking him to pay N110m as ransom for the release of his pupils.
Speaking to journalists on the telephone on Tuesday, Alhassan said the bandits claimed to have 156 pupils with them.
According to him, the kidnappers threatened that if they did not pay the ransom by the end of today (Wednesday), they would kill all the children.
Alhassan said the message had been passed to the state government, which said it would not pay any ransom.
The PUNCH learnt that some public-spirited people in the community had, however, started raising the money.
Meanwhile, the state government has said it has set the necessary machinery in motion to ensure the safe release of the schoolchildren.
A statement by Mary Noel Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abubakar Bello, quoted the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso, as also saying, “Government is on the pursuit of the bandits and efforts are being put in place to identify them.
“The number of the kidnapped schoolchildren is not fully ascertained. However, efforts by security agencies to secure their release have been intensified. We don’t pay ransom to abductors. We are trying to negotiate to see how we can bring them back safely.” https://punchng.com/bandits-confirm-kidnap-of-156-niger-pupils-demand-n110m/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social

Thanks so much. Now I'm more enlightened. Especially concerning the aspect that states Force used in Self Defense, must be Proportional to the threat. I so much appreciate. With this and - how do law students refer to one of their books in those days oooo - yeah, Sagay, I think I can go to law school and pass smallsmall: You are talking about killing "In Self- Defense". The Summary of the law in that regards is that "Force used in Self Defense, must be Proportional to the threat". Yes, Self Defense, is a mitigating factor in Law.
When you use it, you must be ready to satisfy the Judge that: 1) You have no other alternative than to use such lethal force (I am cornered, l cant even retreat or run away or escape)
2) The force used is the best option possible (I have to shoot him because he was about shooting me... but you shot him in the back showing that he was running away or retreating from you!; You could hit him with a stick, at the back or you could shoot him on the leg but you chose to Matchette him and cut off his head or you chose to aim your bullet for his Skull, etc). You should be ready to explain the circumstances.
3) The Proportionality of Force requires that someone cannot attack you with a fist, while you defend yourself by using a Gun to Execute him! The Force in such case, is not proportional and the plea of "Self Defense" will not fly. If he came with you with a fist and you used a Stick to break his hand , you are more likely to plead self defense with that successfully.
Being as it may, if you kill someone in 'Self Defense', you can plead for mitigation and even exoneration, based on that. That is why there are various level of charges, when it comes to one person killing another, from various degere of Murder, to Manslaughter. |
Crime › Re: Land Dispute: Sele-oge Tom Stabbed To Death, Son Butchers Assailant by Akell(m): 10:06pm On May 29, 2021 |
smallsmall: Revenge or recourse to Self-Help, is not a "defense in law".
He will be charged for Murder (if the Man dies) or Attempted Murder (if the man survives). The sentence may be 'mitigated', say to Manslaughter, instead of Murder, if he pleads provocation and has a good Lawyer
But if the Man above survives, he himself will be certainly charged for Murder, for killing the father of the Son above so, his own case is already decided. His Victim is already dead, he should just pray to die as well because Nigerian Prisons 'no be am'.
"Anger" is never a Strategy! That is what l always tell people. Thanks learned lawyer. But how about a situation where a man kills someone who has the intention of killing him. For example, a man's house was burgled and the attackers were set to shoot or machete him, if he was quick to kill the attacker, what's the position of the law in this matter? Or a marauding herdsman who went to attack a farmer in his farm but unfortunately, the farmer took the day by killing him. Thanks for your response. |
