PoliticsAGF Malami Denies 2023 Governorship Campaign Posters by Akell(op): 4:36pm On Feb 05, 2021
Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has rubbished reports claiming that his 2023 governorship campaign posters have flooded streets in Kebbi State.

Malami’s response to the reports was disclosed in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr Umar Jibrilu-Gwandu in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

Jibrilu-Gwandu, in the statement, said: “Our attention has been drawn to the fictitious, mischievous report claiming that the posters of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice vying for the 2023 governorship poll have flooded everywhere in the state.

“We have gone round the city with journalists; they have seen it by themselves that the report lacked iota of truth. We have not seen any of such posters in Birnin Kebbi.

“We, therefore, want the general public to disregard such information because it was just the figment of the imagination of the author,” he said.

Jibrilu- Gwandu said that the minister had lots of supporters in the state that might have interest in him based on his humanitarian services and goodwill but the story about his campaign posters was a total lie.

“A situation where someone will fabricate lies in the name of journalism sends a bad signal to the profession.

“If you could recall, on March 16, 2020, Malami urged his supporters to exercise restrain over his 2023 governorship campaign, as it was not yet time for political campaigns in view of the provisions of Electoral Act and extant laws of the Federation,” he said.

PoliticsWTO: Myung-hee Withdraws From Race, Leaving Okonjo-iweala As Sole Candidate by Akell(op): 4:23pm On Feb 05, 2021
The coast is now clear for Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to become the Director General of the World Trade Organisation, WTO, following the withdrawal of South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee.

WTO had in October selected Okonjo-Iweala to be DG, but the United States led then by Donald Trump blocked her appointment as a consensus was needed.

Since the US blocked her appointment, ratification of her appointment has been delayed.

The good news however for the Nigerian is that Myung-hee withdraw from the race on Friday, making her the sole candidate.

Yoo, South Korean Trade Minister, in a statement on Friday said she had been in consultation with major countries such as the US over the consensus vote to become the next DG of WTO.

According to her, “In order to promote the functions of WTO and in consideration of various factors, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy.”

She said South Korea would continue to contribute in various ways to strengthen the restoration of the multilateral trading system as a responsible trading powerhouse.

Despite her stepping down, Okonjo-Iweala will still need the confirmation of all 164 members before becoming the DG, WTO.

The US had blocked her appointment because China supported her. The US and China had been in lingering trade war and the head of the WTO is key to who control world trade.

But the stepping down of Yoo, who has US backing may pave way for the US to soft-pedal, especially as President Joe Biden has taken over at the helms of affairs.

PoliticsSanwo-Olu Swears In 18 New Permanent Secretaries by Akell(op): 4:15pm On Feb 05, 2021
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday sworn-in 18 new Permanent Secretaries and demanded performance from them.

At the swearing in which took place at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu said it was really a tough task selecting them from a pool of highly qualified, competent, and experienced directors but that their performance at the one-on-one sessions validated the credibility of the process.

He said he had no doubt that they would justify their appointment by collaborating with this administration to deliver outstanding service to Lagosians.

“The people of Lagos State deserve the best and I demand the best from you. You must always remember that this is not a ceremonial role; to whom much is given, much is expected.

“As Permanent Secretaries and Accounting Officers of your MDAs, you have the responsibility of optimally managing the human and material resources in your care. Let me remind you that our social contract with Lagosians is embodied in the six-point T.H.E.M.E.S agenda, and the faultless implementation of this Agenda should guide your actions,” he said.

The governor added that in the over 600 days of his administration, he had remained focused on the Greater Lagos Vision despite the challenges of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

“We have a long way to go- we are, however, encouraged by the progress we have made so far especially the completion of critical projects inherited from the past administration and the milestone projects that will be completed and inaugurated this year.

“I am confident that we will achieve our dream of a Greater Lagos with our people as the ultimate beneficiaries. You will, therefore, agree with me that our MDAs must be headed by only those who share our vision for a Greater Lagos and are ready to work hard to actualize that vision.

“My confidence in our ability to achieve a greater Lagos is to a large extent hinged on the capacity, capability, commitment, and dedication of every member of this government, including the Body of Permanent Secretaries,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu said the new permanent secretaries could recall that during the one-on-one sessions he had with them, he asked them about the new changes they would introduce to address specific issues and improve the quality of service delivery in the respective MDAs.

“Now that you have scaled through and emerged as the newest members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, it is time to put those ideas to work and in the same spirit, be prepared to tackle other challenges that you will encounter in the course of discharging your duties,” he charged them.

Speaking on behalf of the new permanent secretaries, Dr Akinwunmi Mustafa thanked Sanwo-Olu for the confidence he had in them, saying that the rigorous screening process showed what Lagos State is known for.

"Mr Governor, you have chosen from the best and we are ready to go and will not let you down. You have a group of people that are ready to work with you and make the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda achievable in no distant time,” he said.

The new permanent secretaries and their portfolios are:

CelebritiesI Wooed My Husband — Aisha Yesufu by Akell(op): 11:51am On Feb 05, 2021
Popular activist, Aisha Yesufu, has narrated how she asked out her husband before they got married.

The activist said she made the first move in all her previous relationships and her husband was not an exception.

“The way I met my husband is a long story. I was the one who asked him out. I arranged it so he can see me as a wife since he wasn’t seeing me as a wife. He would tell you I don’t behave like a wife, I behave like a girlfriend,” Yesufu said.

“One thing my husband would always say is that no time he comes that I tell him no. You know I am an Edo woman, we have to do it.”

She added that on their wedding night, she told her husband that she was available and willing to fulfill any of his sexual fantasies.

“On our wedding night, I told my husband that anyhow you want it, ask me. Any fantasy you have, I am available because that is my primary job, I do not delegate it. Every other thing I delegate but for that one work, I do not joke about it,” she said.

Yesufu was a popular figure during the #EndSARS protests that rocked the country in October.

Christianity EtcEkiti Cancels Sponsorship Of Pilgrims To Mecca, Jerusalem by Akell(op): 10:46pm On Feb 04, 2021
The state government says it will no longer sponsor pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem.

“Anybody wishing to perform his religious obligation of going to the holy land must do so with his own personal savings and that was what I told the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) when their executives made a similar request because we must be fair to all.”

Egbeyemi said the board’s demand for office furniture and utility vehicles are legitimate and would be looked into.

In his address, Onipede commended Fayemi and his deputy for the appointment of board members.

He said the board was not functioning as it ought to during the administration of Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti.

In his remarks, Egebeyemi said the state no longer engages in sponsoring pilgrimages, adding that no allocation is made for it in the budget.

He asked those interested in visiting Mecca and Jerusalem for pilgrimage to seek private sponsorship.

“Both the Federal Government and the State Government have said they will not spend their money on pilgrimages again and that is why there was no budgetary allocation to it,” he said.

Bisi Egbeyemi, the deputy governor, said the development is in line with the federal government’s decision to end sponsorship of pilgrims, thereby saving funds for development purposes.

I should not be myopic by including non dictionary definitions? Do you realize that buhari has appointed more southerners than northerners in his govt?
No. You haven't given us a non dictionary meaning. You have only succeeded in taking us down history lane by giving us the etymology of the word 'nepotism'.
That said, give us an indepth analysis on your latter claim.

garfield1:
Is that what the English dictionary says? Then what is marginalization?
Don't be myopic.
Marginalization is the relegation of a specific group or people to a lower or outer edge. It is also the act of making a person or a group of people unimportant and powerless in an unfair way.

When you are being nepotic to a particular group, then you marginalise another.

Nepotism is a form of favoritism which is granted to relatives in various fields, including business, politics, entertainment, sports, religion and other activities. [1][2] The term originated with the assignment of nephews to important positions by Catholic popes and bishops . [3]
Nepotism has been criticized since the ancient times by several philosophers, including
Aristotle, Valluvar , and Confucius. For instance, the ancient Indian philosopher Valluvar condemned nepotism as both evil and unwise

Can you explain how emefiele or irabor are related to buhari or you created another definition for nepotism?
Don't be myopic.

Nepotism is unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice

Hum!We christians should only preach Christ and repentance and not condemnation. Leave the work of repentance to the holy spirit.
As we were told not to judge, noone is judging anyone here. 'Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove (expose) them.' Ephesians 5:10-11 KJV

Believers should have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, either by participation or by any attitude that might indicate tolerance or leniency. These works of darkness are unfruitful as far as God and men are concerned. It was this feature of utter barrenness that once prompted Paul to ask the Roman Christians, “What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed?” (Rom. 6:21). Then too they are works of darkness: they belong to the world of dim lights, drawn drapes, locked doors, secret rooms. They reflect man’s natural preference for darkness and his abhorrence of light when his deeds are evil. John 3:19 KJV And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

The believer is called not only to abstain from the unfruitful works of darkness, but positively he is called to expose them. He does this in two ways: first, by a life of holiness, and second, by words of correction spoken under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Love of the world
The words of the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle John, to “love not the world, neither the things that are in the world” are not just idle words. They were the inspired command of God to all men, everywhere, who entertained any hopes or desires of dwelling in eternal peace with Him. To love the world is to hate God! In the Epistle of James we read, “Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God” (James 4:4). That man or woman who dares ignore such warnings does so at his own peril. There are many religions of the present day whose philosophy, precepts, and tenets permit and encourage fellowship and association with the world. Those religions are of the world. The lives, desires, affections, and the very being of those who accept them are part and parcel of the world, and cannot be separated from it. The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives no license for worldly associations and fellowship. The follower of Jesus Christ keeps the commands of his Master, and separates himself from the world.

When a soul harbours affection for the world, and the things it affords and promises, he cannot be a disciple of Jesus Christ. The Bible draws a picture of the world in its true colour; and declares in many ways, and in many places, that it is gaudy, sensual, devilish, and doomed to a soon and certain destruction. (James 3:15 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
1 John 2:17 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Luke 21:34 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

Matthew 24:38 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark.

Many people think that if a majority of their neighbours indulge in some sinful passion or vice they are justified in doing likewise. Though all the world goes contrary to the will of God, there is not one single person who can justify his action in doing likewise. God is capable of bringing the whole human race to the bar of judgement for an accounting for sin, and He has promised man that He will do it in the proper time. To indulge in sin and be a partaker of worldly appetites will cause one to suffer the wrath of God for his wickedness.

The world has by a large majority rejected Christ and remained indifferent to His cause. These are the people who make up the world. Their actions, their thoughts, their deeds are a continual and constant digression from God, and the end of their lives is the opposite of holiness and righteousness. Their friendships, clubs, businesses, their every movement of life are toward the satisfying of themselves through sinful desires and pleasures. One must, then, either live a life that is pleasing to God, or be adjudged part of the world, whose end is everlasting damnation.

Not of the World
The Christian is in the world, but not of it. He does not hide himself away in a monastery, away from the vices and evils that are in the world; for men need to be told of the Gospel and the power of God to save men from sin. A Christian can work and live a life pleasing to God in the midst of a perverse and wicked generation, and be a testimony for God. There is no excuse for men to say they cannot live a Christian life at their work or in everyday life, because it is the testimony of God’s people everywhere that they can and do live a victorious life. In the armed forces, in business, at home, anywhere and everywhere, God’s people live for Him.

Daniel 1:8 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Hebrews 11:24-26 24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1, 2).

If our affection is on godly things, on the Kingdom of God, we can rest assured we are not of the world. Those in the world have their treasure in the world, and Jesus said that where a man’s treasure is, there is his heart also.
Matthew 6:21 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Lovers of Pleasure
One of the signs of the last days is that men shall be “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” (II Timothy 3:4). The widespread seeking after pleasure, which is so universally accepted, has become one of the worst forms of worldliness and ungodliness. Without question, God wants His people to be happy and to have true pleasure. And within the pages of the Word of God is the proper place to find its source. “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:11).

PoliticsImo Recovers ‘looted’ Public Equipment In Okorocha’s Warehouse by Akell(op): 11:29am On Jan 22, 2021
The Imo State Government on Thursday said it has recovered missing Nsu ceramic and tiles industry equipment in a warehouse believed to be owned by former Governor Rochas Okorocha.

Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Simon Ebegbulem, who led a team to the warehouse located along Owerri/ Aba Road, said the equipment were stacked with other public-owned facilities.

He named a molder as one of the items which, according to him, were looted for the establishment of a private ceramic and tiles company by Okorocha, a serving senator and former chairman of the All Progressives Governors’ Forum.

The Nsu Ceramic and Tiles Industry in Ehime Mbano was established by the administration of the late Sam Mbakwe, the first civilian governor of old Imo State.

Ebegbulem said: “The said 55-feet by 200-length warehouse is adjacent another warehouse where the then Emeka Ihedioha administration discovered some public properties said to be owned by the state.

There was a time the administration of Hope Uzodimma raised the alarm on the equipment of Nsu Ceramic and Tiles Industries looted by the administration of Rochas Okorocha. That was after some patriotic citizens of the state raised the alarm on these looted Imo properties kept by the Okorochas along Owerri/Aba Road.

”We followed up to find out the truth and with what we have seen in Okorocha’s warehouse; there is a plan by Okorocha to set up a ceramic factory with government-owned properties as a personal factory.

“Information we have gathered from those guarding the warehouse is that sometimes, their (Okorocha’s) people come here to pick some items and sell them off.
Science/TechnologyGoogle: We Will Leave Australia by Akell(op): 11:19am On Jan 22, 2021
Google has threatened to pull its search engine from Australia if the federal government proceeds with a planned media code that would force the tech giant to pay for news content.

Executives from the social media giant have fronted a Senate committee examining a bill underpinning the proposed legislation.

The company's Australian managing director Mel Silva warned Google would be forced to stop making its search engine available in Australia if the current code proceeded.

"It would give us no real choice but to stop making Google search available in Australia," she told the committee.

Independent Senator Rex Patrick pressed Ms Silva on why the social media giant would take such a drastic step.

"Do you think that's the proper conduct for a large international corporation like Google," he asked.

"Any rational business needs to assess the impacts of any legislative change on our business, our product and our operations," Ms Silva replied.

"It is the only rational choice if this law were to pass for us.

"We have a workable solution. We're not opposed to a code, we're not opposed to paying publishers for value but the details matter."

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) estimates Google accounts for around 95 per cent of search traffic.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Friday said the government would not respond to Google's threats.

"Let me be clear. Australia makes our rules for things you can do in Australia," he said.

"That's done in our parliament, it's done by our government and that's how things work here in Australia.

"People who want to work with that ... you're very welcome. But we don't respond to threats."

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg introduced the underpinning bill to parliament in December, praising the legislation as a "world-leading" code.

The government has stated it would prefer Facebook and Google to negotiate commercial deals with news media companies.

If these talks fail the parties would be forced into talks under the "bargaining code" to decide how much the digital platforms should pay.

One of Google's main concerns is that it would have to pay all registered news businesses for having results through the platform's search engine.

The company doesn't want this and is instead offering to have its "news showcase" feature included, which allows users to read some stories that are otherwise behind paywalls.

The mandatory code aims to combat the power imbalance between news businesses and digital platforms.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s romance with Niger Republic has become an affront to the national interest of Nigeria. When he was sworn-in as an elected president in 2015 he went to Mamadou Issoufou’s presidential palace in Niamey, Niger Republic, to celebrate. They gave him the reception of a conquering Fulani warlord: a white horse and sword.

I found that curious. How can a Nigerian leader celebrate his electoral victory in a foreign country and not Daura, his supposed hometown in Nigeria? The answer has since been provided through Buhari’s policy actions in the past five plus years. We have since learnt that Buhari is a first-generation Nigerian whose father, Ardo Adamu Buhari, a duck seller, had migrated from Niger, settled in Nigeria and married a Nigerian woman, Zulaihat.

Christianity EtcStingy Men Association: What The Bible Says by Akell(op): 8:53pm On Jan 16, 2021
When Christians are stingy they usually never realize it. You can give and still be stingy. There are some people who give, but with a grudging heart. They think “Aww, do I really have too?” There are some people who offer things, but in their mind they hope the other person says no.

We must not be lovers of self and lovers of money. We must think about others just like Christ thought about us. Give with a cheerful heart not expecting anything in return. Be generous and love others just like Christ loves you. Stinginess is not part of the Christian life.

People are worth more than material things you must never forget that. Where are you storing up your treasures? Would you rather buy stuff or help the poor? Why not readjust your giving today and be a blessing to others. It is so hard for rich people to enter into Heaven.

What does the Bible say?

1.  Proverbs 28:22-24 The stingy person hastens after riches and does not know that poverty will overtake him. The one who reproves another will in the end find more favor than the one who flatters with the tongue. The one who robs his father and mother and says, “There is no transgression,” is a companion to the one who destroys.

2.  Proverbs 23:6-8 Do not eat the food of a stingy person, do not crave his delicacies; for he is like someone calculating the cost in his mind. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you; you will vomit up the little bit you have eaten, and will have wasted your pleasant words.

Give not with a grudging heart

3. 2 Corinthians 9:7-10 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

4. 1 Chronicles 29:9 The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

5. Romans 12:8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

6.  Proverbs 11:24-27 One person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who provides water for others will himself be satisfied. People will curse the one who withholds grain, but they will praise the one who sells it. The one who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but the one who searches for evil—it will come to him.

7. Deuteronomy 15:8-11 Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need. Do not be mean-spirited and refuse someone a loan because the year for canceling debts is close at hand. If you refuse to make the loan and the needy person cries out to the LORD, you will be considered guilty of sin. Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the LORD your God will bless you in everything you do. There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need.

Treasures in Heaven

8. Luke 12:16-24 Then he gave an illustration: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. In fact, his barns were full to overflowing—he couldn’t get everything in. He thought about his problem, and finally exclaimed, ‘I know—I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones! Then I’ll have room enough. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “Friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Wine, women, and song for you!”’  “But God said to him, ‘Fool! Tonight you die. Then who will get it all?’ “Yes, every man is a fool who gets rich on earth but not in heaven.” Then turning to his disciples he said, “Don’t worry about whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothes. Look at the ravens—they don’t plant or harvest or have barns to store away their food, and yet they get along all right—for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!”

9. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.

10. Matthew 25:34-40 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Be generous

11. Proverbs 22:9 The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

12. Luke 6:38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

13. Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

Reminders

14. Proverbs 11:26-27 The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it.

15. Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

16. 1 Peter 4:8-10 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

EducationEdo Teachers To Begin Indefinite Strike by Akell(op):
NIGERIAN Union of Teachers (NUT) in Edo State has directed primary school teachers and school heads to embark on indefinite strike starting January 18.

The directive was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its enlarged State Wing Executive Council (SWEC) meeting in Benin.

It was signed by Chairman Pius Okhueleigbe, Assistant Secretary-General Mike Itua, and three others.

The union said its decision to embark on strike was because of the state’s failure to meet its 10-point demands. It added that the strike followed the expiration of the 21-day and 14-day ultimatums earlier given to the Godwin Obaseki-led government.

The communiqué reads: “All public primary school-heads and teachers in the 18 local government areas should embark on indefinite strike from 12am of January 18. They must ensure all teaching and learning tools in their possession are put in off-mode.”

Some of NUT’s demands include payment of the 2013 to 2015 promotion arrears of teachers in Oredo, Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode councils.

Others are reinforcement and guaranteeing of the payment of primary school teachers’ monthly salaries, on or before the 27th of every month, correct implementation of the 30 per cent special allowance for teachers of challenged children and all arrears paid, among others.

PoliticsOlaniyan: I Never Vowed Not To End Rift With Seyi Makinde by Akell(op):
The rift between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan, has deepened, less than two years after the two engineers paired for the 2019 poll.

The bone of contention, said a source, is the 2023 poll. While the governor is working hard to deliver on his promises to earn a second term, the source said his deputy also harbours a governorship ambition.

The gulf between the duo widened, following silent complaints by the deputy governor’s camp that he was not being carried along by his boss.

But the deputy governor on Wednesday emphasized that the mandate given to him was to work with the governor.

However, the governor, according to the source, has dismissed the allegation, saying that Olaniyan has specific roles allotted to him by the governor.

When the governor was in isolation centre, associates of the deputy governor complained that his boss never handed over to him.

The deputy governor is responsible for the supervision of many boards and parastatals, and other special duties, it was learnt.

On some occasions, the deputy governor had stormed the State House only to discover that his boss had gone for official assignment, which was unknown to him.

However, the source said Makinde believed that his deputy has much to do in government, adding that “the onus is on him to generate robust ideas which can add value, owing implementation”.

Party chieftains also said the deputy governor, who may defect from the ruling party, is eyeing the seat occupied by his boss when the coast is not clear.

But, the deputy governor denied any between him and his boss.

He also denied a report that he will never end his rift with his boss, adding that, if there is a rift, as a true Muslim, he would seek for its resolution.

Olaniyan described an online report titled: “Governor Makinde’s Deputy, Olaniyan Has Vowed Never To End Rift With His Boss” as not only baseless, but a figment of the magination.

He said in a statement by his media aide, Omolere Omoetan, that he has a mandate to work with the governor to serve the people of Oyo State.

Olaniyan said he would not be distracted by reports emanating from shady sources and mischief makers.

He urged the people to disregard the statement attributed to him by the phantom source quoted in the malicious report.

Olaniyan berated those behind the fake news, saying that their plot to sow a seed of discord will collapse.

He promised to work assiduously with Makinde, to provide good governance to the people in line with the governor’s vision.

justified007:
How will you if it is original by just turning the Gen upside? How will you know if it is corper or not ?
There are three types of coil you can find in a generator.

1. Copper Coil
THE COIL
As we all know, generators comes with a coil, whether small or big generator. For original generator, its coil are made of copper. To know if the coil is fake or original, you will need to rob your hands on the body of the coil, if your hands are stain, then its a fake coil.

Also check if the coil are well rolled inside the engine, if the coil is not rolled well, then the engine has been tempered with. But if you notice that while after robbing your hand on the coil and there was no stain, together with the coil been rolled well into the engine, then the product is original.

2. Aluminium Coil
The wire coil for the aluminium comes in a silver shiny color.

3. THE BRASS
The brass comes in gold color and are weaker. Avoid buying generators with weaker brass coil.

THE ENGRAVED NAME ON THE BODY OF THE GENERATOR
The brand name for an original generator will be written on all parts of the generator and engraved as on the fuel tank, engine block, cylinder cover, carburetor etc.

Aside buying a good generator, a good engine oil is also advised. We need to stop buying from roadside, diluted oils. They spoil the engine in not time.

Follow the oil type recommended for your generator. In this article, I'll use the SAE 10W 30 as a template being the oil recommended for my Elepaq SV6800.

What does the word SAE stand for?

It means Society of Automotive Engineers.

The 10W30 designation on engine oil means that the viscosity of the oil is rated at 10W when an engine is cold and 30 when the engine is hot. This is different from an oil labelled 5W30, which has a thinner viscosity when the engine is cold at 5W.

Why a Viscosity Scale is Important

In order to have a standard way to measure the viscosity of engine oil, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) developed a viscosity scale. The scale ranges from 0W, which is the thinnest type of oil, to a rating of 60, which is the thickest oil.

The “W” that you see on oil labels stands for the word winter because this portion of the label shows the viscosity level of oil when an engine is cold.

Motor oil that is thinner can flow more easily and faster. This is important because when you start a cold engine, the oil needs to lubricate the equipment quickly. A low viscosity motor oil allows it to do that. On the other hand, when the engine is hot, you don’t want your motor oil to be too thin. Thus, the higher viscosity or thicker oil keeps all the engine parts well lubricated and separated.

How Oil Affects Equipment
Although understanding oil viscosity is important in solid fleet maintenance, oil viscosity also affects the performance of a wide range of industrial equipment. For example, viscosity can increase or decrease the heat created by bearings and cylinders. Viscosity can also affect how quickly oil is consumed and how easily equipment can be started and operated in extreme temperatures.

When the oil has a higher viscosity or is thicker at warm temperatures, you will use less oil and experience less wear and tear on your vehicles or equipment. However, a thinner viscosity oil can help improve the start-up of a piece of equipment as well as reduce fuel usage.

Inappropriate oil viscosity can result in occasional contact between machine components. When this goes unchecked, you’ll start experiencing damage and problems with equipment. As a result, it’s important to not only select the right type of oil for each application but also to conduct regular oil changes in your preventive maintenance program.
