of course this is their way any time am buying secondary market Tbills from them but to my outmost surprise, this time around, although i sent an instruction on what i want but i was not inform on the t & c of the bonds before dey proceed in buying for me. AM A BIT SURPRISE SHA! emmanuelewumi: Stanbic IBTC sends available bonds to me very early in the morning from Monday to Friday. This information will include the price, yield, maturity.
You will send a mail to them concerning what you want, before they debit your account they will give you a breakdown of the transaction, fees, clean price, dirty price, units and total cost, if you are okay with the breakdown you can approve the deal |

Exactly my thought, it would have also perform better if the tenure is longer than that, lets say 5 years or more! i stand to b corrected. somehow close to a #100k. But gurus in the house, kindly shed more light on how one can send instruction to all these brokers to avert reoccurrence of such because from my observation, once u fund your cscs account these people will just buy the next available bond for u without ur consent unlike TBILLS where u will b notify of the currents stop price in the market before they proceed in buying it on ur behalf. PresidentBuhari: Actual profit is the percentage of the Yield that's 10.9% at the time I bought. The value of the yield in % is actually what determines your profit and not the coupon rate of 16 percent for secondary market bonds. Overall it a loss as the funds would've performed better under some other investment portfolio. |

pls i need to learn from this oo. how much would ur gain be at maturity because i can see 1,585,000 at maturity. nd the maturity date is less than a year with what am seeing so far, i need enlightenment pls PresidentBuhari: It was bought through bank. It's two payments a year i.e roughly N264k a year. I don't have the contract note but information recorded at the time of purchase was; YIELD - 10.93 CLEAN PRICE - 1102.6 DIRTY PRICE - 1156.4 |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Akerewe(m): 3:52pm On Jun 26, 2021 |
anyhow anyhow i think rate are still better either premium, discount or par currently compare to the last sukuk of 11.2%. like u said the yield make sense on the long run. Lazyyouth4u: Whether you buy at premium, par or discount , just try to get the highest ‘yield’ possible (note I didn’t say ‘coupon’)
Yield = coupon divided by the amount you paid for the bond |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Akerewe(m): 1:10pm On Jun 26, 2021 |
do u mean to say @ premium may b better? Lazyyouth4u: As per bolded, it’s not up to the investor at all. It all depends on what the current market pricing is. If current interest rates are high, then bonds with lower coupons will sell at a discount in order for a buyer to get yields where the current interest rates are.
If you divide your coupon by the amount you pay for it and compare to current interest rates, you will realize that you didn’t make any gain by buying a discounted bond... |

emmanuelewumi: I use United Capital Asset Management and FSDH Asset Management.
I get better returns from United Capital fixed income.
I reinvest the dividends, I sell when I need funds.
Sold about N1.5 million of my United Capital fixed income fund yesterday morning and got paid today.
Unlike Money Market Fund where you will be paying within hours noted chief |

ukay2: Your not cheated at all
The bond is ok
Just target at discount prices next time to help you buy at discount price, like buying 1.5M bond for 1.4M...
...you get better the more you invest
Some investors may have bought at higher premium prices like 150 in the early days of their bond investments...
Keep learning as you invest.... noted boss, i was just in haste to throw the money into something b4 the rate crash again because the money had been idle in mutual fund since january and i cant really factor out any interest payment on it because of their 0.1, -0.1 rate and the likes |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Akerewe(m): 2:25pm On Jun 23, 2021 |
emmanuelewumi: When will it mature? What was the yield?
From my calculation you invested about N1 Million and you have been getting a coupon of 123k per annum.
You bought at a premium, you should be more concerned the yield.
You bought at N100.05 at maturity you will be paid N100.00 no the coupon is about 179k+ |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Akerewe(m): 2:23pm On Jun 23, 2021 |
am new to this, pls is everything ok with the bond or i was cheated by the broaker? and perhaps which one is the best among all these types of condition u listed. at par, at premium and at discount? thanks for ur input ukay2: You bought at premium price ...above 100
There is Par price...100
There is discount price....below 100

pls Oga Emmanuelewumi, i need clarifications on some things sir,, i bought a bond from stanbic @ 12.4% but to my suprise after i demanded for the analysis i discoverd that at maturity, my face value will be less tha my initial capital. like 49k will miss from my capital according to their breakdown. is this a normal thing or something went wrong? the bond is at 100.05 @ d rate of 12.4% emmanuelewumi: Yes
Inflation will affect interest rates
The interest earned so far by the bond will also affect the price, because the coupons are calculated daily. |
