I got this quotation for four bedroom bungalow from my electrician:

First stage half conduit

5 boundel 20mm pipe 20000
1 boundel 25mm pipe 6000
2 pack u box 3000
20mm compler 1500
5 pack 3by3 iron box 7500
5 pack 3by6 iron box 7500
Male Bush 3000
Three phase d.b 60,000

Materias cost #108,500
Work manship 45,000
Total #153,500

Are the material prices okay?

The prices are not ok, break it down πŸ‘‡

U mean 20,000 for 5 bundles? Or a bundle is 20,000? For the 20mm pipe, which brand?

The 25mm pipe price is outrageous, watch! kiss

U box per pack or per 2 packs is 3,000??

20mm coupler price is ok

The iron box prices, is it per pack or per 5 pack?

The distribution board??

Workmanship is ok but u can still negotiate small.

Your comprehension skill ehn.....

I am 25 mins to lagos, sagamu, ibadan, abeokuta all from same location, so tell me how you can be so calculative.

By the way the size determine the price, the error up there is 3/4 down was gotten for 7k per ton,if you still don't get it. I don't know what to say.
While the larger sizes( larger than those use for fuelling station ground flooring. were gotten at 11k per ton.

Am not dragging anything with u guy, we r educating ourself here. My points are clear, mind u, u r running ur project at high price aside the cheap labourers u got nothing is still different. 3/4 down at that price 7k/ton is still the same price with my initial price.

Also no 20 tonnage capacity truck will agree to move 20 tons granite @ 40k except if the quarry is very close to ur site nd if u r really saying the truth good luck. U can as well give me the trucker number I wan to give him granite job. Thanks πŸ‘

Have a read on your quote I never stated that 5tons was 14k, I was only giving you price advice on the cost, as it varies depending on sizes....

Mind you I am on the journey of a factory construction in same Ogun State( very remote community) and all prices are still relatively low to what you have expended.
Visit rcc, KOPEC, cnc, crane, quarries they would give you the prices of the various sizes, in my own case I made use of 3/4down and it was 11k per ton from KOPEC.... the driver charges 40k for the transportation 20 tons size truck, and I have made purchase of about 80ton and still counting. So you can do your assignment again and this time around diligently.

Hmm, 11k per tonnage? Guy gba, won ti ripped e? I can actually sell granite for u at a very reasonable price below what u r buying currently, infact compare to what ur 11k per tonnage it would a kind of unimaginable price. I will supply it with my money and if it's not up to 20tonnage u r used to, reject it.

Mind u, in my place here, no 20 tons truck will collect 40k to move 20tons of granite, I can bet that. May b quarry is very close to ur site.

U said very remote community, where I am in OGUN STATE is less than 40 minutes to Lagos, u can't compare remote community to a city.

Ok if my 5tons is @ d rate of 11k per tons, 5 tons would be 55k abi? How much will the truck charge? U mean the truck will charge 10k for moving it? I bought it @65k-70k.

Hmmm, 50k to set just 320 blocks? shocked Are you sure that's what obtains generally around there or yours is just an exception?

It might be an extortion but that's what I paid nd I know if the price would be less than this, the margin will be close. It's actually on top of lintel beam not floor blocks settings.

I will not like to mention my actual place in Ogun state but here it's usually on the high side because u hardly see an indigenous boy learning mason or doing labourers as 99% of youths are into yahoo stuff. So we r left with the Hausa guys nd they r also aware of our challenges hence they charge high.

I called a mallam to clear a plot of land for me he was charging me 30k cos the Yahoo boys pay them high for little job so the r alert nd ready to extort U anytime. I ended up paying 10k for clearing a plot of land without trees oo.

Infact I can boldly say that Lagos construction job is way cheaper than my place.

I called some iron bender for a slab Job nd they were charging 50k per tonnage. I had to invite an iron bender from Lagos who did d job at 35k per tons. I once told a mason that setting of building blocks in Lagos is #60 per block nd he said that can never happen here as they don't count blocks settings job.

Your quotes and billing are way to expensive, you have been schooled.

Tons of granite ranges from 5k to 14k

And there are loads of QUARRIES( KOPEC, IJEBU ODE, RCC, AND OTHERS) in ogun State, making it more cheaper.

Can u send me the number of the supplier who's selling 5tons of granite at 14k pls biko

As for the artisan/mason for the job done, that's the fact of what I paid.

Not quite as cheap as you think o. Paying unskilled labourers may not be as costly, but paying skilled artisans is a different ball game all together, not to even mention cost of materials and logistics. For instance, when I did my roofing earlier this year, price of bond stone-coated sheets was 4.7k per sqm here in Bayelsa, while in Lagos, it was 3.9k per sqm...of course I got it from Lagos and still made some savings despite having to pay twice for logistics. Just a couple of months after, Lagos price had dropped to 3.75k per sqm while in Bayelsa it increased to 4.9k per sqm, instead of decreasing.

Yet it's still cheaper in bayelsa than OGUN STATE, Lagos is the source of most of these building materials except granite and sands which we have in aboundant in OGUN STATE yet it's still on the high side here. 5tons granite is #65,000-70,000 here in Ogun state presently.

We also go to Lagos to buy bulk on our own from Ogun state anytime we feel like cutting cost yet the artisan here are more costly than bayelsa artisan if am guessing right. Imagine I recently paid 50k for artisan to set 320 pieces of 9" inches blocks above lintel level which cost 2 mason 2 helpers less than 2 days to finish.

Location is Bayelsa State. Labourers here would be quite happy to get 5k plus per day for slab casting...we do N700 per bag of cement and a single labourer hardly does more than 5 bags a day.

U guys r enjoying oo, 😲 wow! That means building is very cheap in bayelsa state, am in OGUN STATE, it's a different thing entirely.

With less than 30k u can hire labourers to assist mason set 2000 blocks for building??

I don't need luck, that's what we pay in my area, but I understand it's location dependent anyway.

Pls where is ur location Biko, I might need some labourers nd will provide accommodation for them. Labourers here collect 3.5k -4k daily, for slab casting I think it's 5k upward

You were asking about slab reinforcement and the CC, in a typical slab with projected thickness of 150mm, when you remove the 12mm rods, and the possibility of some lapping in some crossed areas, you will have about 120mm of concrete left, I usually plan to have about 60mm top and 60mm bottom. The bottom part is usually easier, I can use concrete biscuits to prop up the decking mat, but the top CC is trickier as we must navigate to ensure that adequate spread is made so that the CC plan will be achieved.

B/w, 3 inches you mentioned is 75mm, not 60mm.

We have our CC for this slab set at 60mm. The slab is a total of 15mm thickness.

As for reinforcement rods, TMT is very cool, but there are standard gauges from most local companies these days after the FG improved the standard of rods late last year.

C/c 60mm (less then 3 inches) as how, what am seeing on this slab is more than 60mm. May b am not getting u right!

150mm thickness is the standard!

Pls can u recommend a nice local iron Rod nd it's price for me nd the brand also

Did you say 3 inches thickness for your floor? Hope this isn't a suspended floor?

Irrespective of the type of floor, 3 inches is too small for the thickness.

You can use 3/4 inch granite size for floor.

Not at all, it's a ground floor not a suspend floor.
Thanks for the insight Engineer, 3/4 down I guess? Thanks I will do just that.

What is likely to be the mixing ratio with using 3/4 on ground floor?
