HI Fellow Farmers n Readers,


Its been awhile.. Happy Independence day, i hope you gave your pigs a better feed ration on independence day as well

and gave them independence to work around and exercise better.

I see the room has been quiet lately, i have made up my mind, to visit more often this month ( october,2015) and share some of my experience

and reply to questions; i will share some of the bad experiences i have had in farming... i noticed most people share only the good stories,

which has made alot of people to rush into farming, thinking its a goldmine.

I will also share "some" secrets which might be helpful; i will appreciate if we can make it more interactive;

pls will appreciate if nobody derail the conversation/topic.

I will start with the story of my farm , will share more of the negative/mistakes that i made which i think you should watch

out for ( new farmers). Will appreciate feedback before i start and suggestions , if you dont think it will be meaningful or helpful let me know

... if you are there reading and in support of this, i will need atleast 10 positive feedback before i start.

Its a good development to share the other type pf eperience and not just the good side of it alone. Will be waiting to hear them. Am also a very young farmer and I read this thread daily. Just as a poster said, I dont think you need upto ten before u start. People that need it will read and make use.

The truth is that Buhari can only reduce corruption in Nigeria. He cannot completely eradicate it.

Corruption destroy the nation with 170 million people. selective trial,hypocracy, vendetta, witch hunt, politically motivated or personal interest only affect few who are guilty. When you have 100 thieves, it is better to catch 5 thieves even if the remaining 95 go free than allowing the whole 100 thieves to go free.

When people shout about not trying Amaechi , fashola and tinubu as the basis to completely ignore other corrupt people, such call is not for the progress of Nigeria. Such call is not realistic. People making such calls are hypocrite and insincere.

" A leader who destroys those who are devoted to him does not inspire devotion". Buhari knows this. That is why he would not go after Amaechi, fashola or tinubu. That is why the bible told us despite all the attrocities of David, God still called David the man after his own heart. Because david is devoted to him. If God can do that, who is ordinary imperfect human being like Buhari to do otherwise.

You can only forgive a repentant thief or someone who believe in your course. In the bible, two thieves were lucky to be crucified at the same time with Jesus Christ. Only one of them Identify with righteousness of Jesus Christ. It was only that one that Jesus forgave. Is Jesus christ unjust by doing that? Saraki is an unrepentant thief like the second thief who was crucified with Jesus who refuse to change his path from darkness to light.

We must all support Buhari in the fight against corruption. It is for our own good.

Telecoms salary structure is not like banking that has a fixed salary pay. Only entry level recieves same pay ALL others are subject to negotiations based pn your previous earnings.

@OP, congratulations on your new step. From the pix of your construction I saw, i dont think you would finish the construction in a week. I just started my farm about two months ago and the experience I had during construction was not easy at all, they are somuch full of disappointments.
Where is your farm location? The numbers you intend to start up is fine but you need to define how you want to always sell your animals at the end of the day. Take for example would u have buyers for just five or ten animals? Would u be able to sell one when ever you want? Are you isolated from other farmers? Like me, I am and if I want to sell, it must be reasonable quantity unlike the oke aro guys that can sell just one of they wanted.

Ok. Salt and multivitamins are about 0.5% each. Some people prefer injecting multivitamins @ 3-4 day intervals. Depends on you.
Check out the first two pages of this thread, Lagbaja gave a very detailed analysis of feed composition. Just substitute your fufu waste for the cassava.

Oh thanks alot. I have gone back to read it. I think am on track. I may not be able to get everything listed there like lysine, methionine, premix, H-Plus from Animalcare because am not familiar with them at all, but will surely get the limestone and some of the rest that are listed. Thanks a lot.

If that is what is readily available in your location, yes. Just try and balance the diet(s). You'll need to add some vitamins to that diet. Depending on the age of your pigs, also consider some concentrate containing lysine, methonine etc. Probably fishmeal and/ or bloodmeal. Just small rations, based on age. Also, don't forget your salt.

Thanks for your response. Actually they are about to cross. It even looks as if some of them have been crossed but they are on heat as I could notice. Please whats the proportion of these concentrates that you mentioned. More so, I do not intend selling these stocks but to use it to build the farm

Hello House, pls is it possible to continually feed pigs with pkc and fufu waste? Fufu waste is that white waste that those women get when preparing fufu. I have been giving the pigs the combination and they have somuch been eating it but can I continue with the feeds?

If you are using spent grain (brewery waste) it should not be more than 25% of the whole feed ration.

Thanks Niyiola. But whats the consequence if its more than that say 60%? Presently I have spent grains at 60% and PKC at 40%

the citizens around there need to be blamed also. it is part of our responsibilities to share information with various agencies when there is need. Nigerians can only look and snap pictures,they can't observe and share information with appropriate authorities.

My brother God will bless you. I have been reading down the thread and I expected people to say things as they are exactly. How many of them reported to authority. Toĺl line is free how many called it. We are so quick at passing blames and expecting a perfect situation from the goverment all the time. Why did the people around not take her to general hospital and dump her there? We should appreciate that an ambulance eventually came to pick her up though i agree it can be better because there are lots of destitutes, hungry and sick people in the streets as worse as this woman.
