So far, I have met about 10 new Nigerian students...

Heard there is a Ghanaian too.

From testimonies, they had no issues during visa interview and even lesser issues at POE..
I can safely say the school has a good reputation.

Currently heading to the movie cinema wink- Dunkirk has been pushed forward for way toooo long.
I know I'll love it, I am a sucker for good movies. smiley

Enjoy brother

Got a 1bedroom flat for $499 + $11 insurance for the landlord's property, insurance doesn't cover our property.

$100 was for deposit in case we damage anything for their house.
$40 was application fee...

This is the picture is what the money got us, twas split between me and my flatmate.

Kitchen
Living room
Bed room
Bathroom
Sorry for my funny question o br. That means you and your room mate is paying like 250$ each abi? Just want to be sure

Get an international adapter. It's #1000 at Computer Village, Ikeja. With it, you can use any socket in Casablanca and the US.

Br please do we use thesame charger plug with Casablanca?
floraine:
All the best and thank God for safe trip

Let me confirm, your saying laptops are not allowed at all?

quote author=shayhune post=59062136]I really do wonder why some people magnify POE experience like it's another visa interview. As long as you're a genuine student and not planning to run way, you have nothing to fear.
I got to JFK yesterday. Joined the queue. I was so stressed out considering the heavy load I carried and the lesser layover time we had at Casablanca which was as a result of a 2hr delay in departure from Lagos. The queue was also very long and the CBPs were quite slow.

CBP: Is this your first time here?
Me: Yes
CBP: How long do you intend to stay here?
Me: 2yrs
CBP: Why do you intend to stay that long?
Me: "I was so tired that I just said rubbish". I'm going to study Masters programme which is for 2yrs. (who studies masters prog grin)
CBP: can I have your sevis?
Me: I thought he was referring to my sevis payment receipt. Gave it to him.
CBP: No. Your sevis?
Me: Now, I knew he was referring to my i20. Passed it to him.
He checked it and asked me to place my fingers for scanning and that was all. My passport was stamped. Wasn't up to a minute or two sef.

Also, the officers checking luggages simply asked me what I had in my box and i told them. I had already declared the important things like Egusi, Crayfish, Garri etc on the form. My luggages were not checked. I just walked outa there like it wasn't a big deal.

Also, I made use of the NYCAirporter (all thanks to Lagosismyhome's info) from JFK to Laguardia airport and it was hassle free and very comfortable. I made the payment in Naija before leaving($16). By the way, I'm heading to Ohio and I came in through JFK which isn't a big deal. I wonder why people just create unnecessary panic about such instances.

One more thing, if you are going with Royal Air Maroc, you're now allowed to carry your laptops with you in your carry on bags. Don't bother putting it in your checked in baggages. Also, Royal Air Maroc service was okay. The food wasn't top notch though but it was still good.

VISA APPROVED on the 26th July, 7:15am at Lagos Embassy

My transcript goes thus:
Vo: Good morning ma'am,how are you?
Me:I'm fine, good morning.
Vo: pass me your passport.....oh!I see you are a student, give me your F-I20.
Vo: so why did you choose morgan state university?
me: I choose MSU because they offer masters in public health with a concentration in Environmental health which will help me implement programs that will improve and promote healthy style living among people of my community here in Nigeria, which is in line with my future career as a community health worker and also i will be joining Dr ABC's research which is aimed at reduction and prevention of HIV/AIDs, sexually transmitted diseases, substance use and alcohol abuse among emerging adults between the ages 18-27.
VO: what university did you do your undergraduate?
Me: Unilorin here in Nigeria.
VO: what year did you graduate?
Me: 2010
VO: what have you being doing after your NYSC?
Me: I was retained at my ppa as a community health worker at YZ foundation which is an NGO after which I took up a job in 2015 as a lab assistant with ABC specialist hospital, we collect samples from patients, document these samples, analyse it,grow it on a culture media (well i just described my duties here)
VO: did you write any test, GMAT, GRE?
Me: I took GRE
Vo: how many schools did you apply to? Me: 3
VO: name them Me: MSU,CSU,TU
VO: mention some of the required courses?
Me: environmental health, statistical methods, epidemiological methods, Biological basis, behavioural health science, public health community needs solution......i mentioned 6/7 cant remember again
VO: who is your sponsor?
Me: my mother.
VO: what does she do?
Me: she is a business woman.
VO: what sort of business?
Me: na so I start to the stammer oh.... rice production, ehnn rice wholesales.....(lol) eventually I was able to say she's one of the major rice distributors in Ilorin.
VO: smiling .....you'll be needing this at the POE.......I no hear the rest again then he passed the white sheet and my F-I20 to me
ME: I put my hands on the slab, face down and I was laughing.... I took my papers and left.

For me I would say it was just God's favour, I told God I wanted a smiling VO and just 2 minutes interview with very few questions and a white sheet at the end...............and it was so.
I couldn't help but notice a lady who was talking so loud with all energy "saying I will cure polio,I will cure this and that" fear begin dey catch me say if she could speak like this and ended up with a blue sheet, wetin I want talk again but I was calm and very optimistic.
MY ADVICE
you don't need to shout to convince the VO, shouting makes one sound like a desperado.
Maintain eye contact..... although in my case i was looking at him but i no even see am.....cos i was looking behind him and focusing on what he was asking me.
once again I say thanks to Textrem, walspring and Akins2016..............you guys are wonderful. And to all the guys and ladies keeping this thread alive and active...........you guys are doing a great job......well done and God bless.

Congratulations. #TeamMorganstateUni
