We have wingers our problem is attacking midfield which Smith-Rowe did a good job of. If we have him or a decent signing in Jan, along side Partey, who be Liverpool?

One thing or lesson this game taught me is that we lacked forwards (wingers) or attack all season.
We created chances upon chances as normal arsenal would have created and also took purposeful shots like a top team. The midfield played well and even the defence wasn't under undue pressure cos the forwards were great. Tierney had a great game and so was xhaka who had an OK game (bar the free kick)

Just imagine what saka, martinelli, ESR were doing in that front. It even rubbed off on lacazette and he played a very good game. We were always on the front foot and the front press was great. No wonder Chelsea never had a shot on target (the closest they had was mason free kick that struck the bar)

Now what happened... We introduced willock and Pepe for Esr and martinelli, then our attack stopped. Chelsea increased their attack and our defence was under undue pressure. We now receiving shot on goal and on target. Not only did we concede a goal but also caused a penalty. We might have drawn the game if not for Leno save. All these happened just because our 2/4 of our attack was off.

This game typically tells us what we've been suffering this season and what we needed to correct. Come to think of it, how many cross and insha Allah we did today.?

If after today's game and Arteta still sticks to Willian and Pepe, then he's really not serious

I watched silently on the sideline how Roland17 tried everything possible to make u see that Gabriel’s addition was not only necessary but also led to some improvement at our back even though the attack has not consolidated on this.

Last year we all unanimously agreed our defence was Crap and we named them clowns for the horror show they put up week-in week-out. Abi u are saying the mustafi horror show vs Chelsea and so many others would’ve earned us top 4? We saw what a Luiz-Mustafi pairing at the back did to us also ; it was only right for the club to bring in somebody that will give the back solidity which is what we saw with the introduction of Gabriel to the backline. We also agreed our midfield needed a tough solid DM/CM who will be ball playing and snuff out any attacking threat; we got that in Partey (it’s unfortunate he’s been out injured).....we all saw what he can add to our team in the game vs Man utd.

Spy360 and I don’t agree on some things but he’s spot on when he says the only problem he has with the team is freezing out Ozil and not getting an AM to replace him is our undoing thus far.

You on the other hand trying to infer Gabriel’s signing was not necessary just dey turn my belle. Gabriel 4cking won our player of the month thrice for his contributions to the team!

This is the notion you guys think we're scapegoating Gabriel. We're not! Wen we say Arteta is a defensive minded coach is not we saying he bought Gabriel or partey. It's we saying he's programming our players (even our attackers) to defend first before attacking. Most of the times, wen teams are attacking us, it's only auba you'll see at the halfway line, the rest of the players are all towards our 18yard box. Once we retrieve the ball, it'll be hard to counter or even transition play quickly cos mostly nobody aside auba is mostly in attack, and we all know auba is not a good dribbler nor a good holdup play player, same thing with lacazette. So in that case our ball is lost almost immediately it is won and the cycle continues. Also the fact that we didn't have good technical midfielders to carry the ball out is another issue.
That's our point.

We saying Arteta prioritized defence over attack is just the breakdown of what we're saying not blaming Gabriel, Luiz or anybody.

Tbh, nobody is saying the players are good enough. We know they aren't good enough for top4, but you'll agree with me that they're good enough for mid-table(at least 8-10th).

Mind you, we've not won since Nov 1 o. Not only that, we've not scored more than a goal in a match since September, neither are we creating clear cut chances. No matter how poor a squad is, if they're exhibiting this traits, then the fault is from the coach.

From the beginning of the season, I was blaming the players cos of how limited they are, but now, it's fully on the coach. Unless I see that we actually create chances, then waste it away or we possess play with good attacking intent, I will keep on blaming Arteta.

The relegation may even be a blessing in disguise for them. Years of terrible choices in the transfer market have finally caught up with them and unfortunately it's in Arteta's tenure that it happened. Pepe, Willian, Xhaka, Mustafi, Bellerin, Holding, Ceballos, Kolasinac, David Luiz etc these players are not at the level of any premier league team at the moment yet they're all assembled in Arsenal. So maybe they should go to the championship and get some sense back.
