As usual, the NFFs stupidity reigns supreme. Both Echegini and Abiodun’s teams will clash in the NCAA women’s Soccer Championship elite 8 on November 24, with one of them going into the final 4. So definitely, one of them will be unable to attend the match. Yet the bufoons who drew up the list didn’t even bother to check and make sure those being invited did not have any previous engagements. Also, the stupid selectors failed to realize that Okoronkwo has not played a match in close to 4 weeks, and then you pile the team up with some no namers who are simply not good enough to play at this level. What a bunch of morons! lovewins: I hope this puts to rest those who were insisting Randy drew up the previous rosters. |

I am sorry, but y'all are grossly overrating these two young ladies. They are up and coming, but certainly NOT anywhere close to Caicedo. No way! Honestly, Onyi is good also, but is not that good in comparison also. We all need to temp down all these comparisons, as neither of the three ladies in question even play (or have ever played) at the level and caliber of competition as Caicedo. Deltamani: Ajakaye is definitely not up to Linda Caicedo level yet even though she’s very quick which is her major asset..
As for E Onyenezide and F Sabastine they ain’t far from it maybe I will give Caicedo 70%, Onyenezide 55% Sabastine 55% all over 100%
I will rate Onyi Echegini at same level with Linda Caicedo and the only difference been that she isn’t Playing Pro yet..
A 5% difference btw both.. but Precision in front of goal Onyi is way better than Linda Caicedo. |

Ah ah...'Calm down', Deltamani - as one of the contributors on this forum always says to me . Look, Caicedo is ranked this high for a reason and yes, she IS deserving of the title. Salma only blossomed for Spain at the world cup (where she was not even a starter until later on in the competition) and before then, was a bit part player for Barcelona, where she was also a bit part player. Caicedo, on the other hand, played in ALL the grade level WWCs and excelled. She was highly instrumental in making Colombia reach a quarterfinal spot. For me, Caicedo was more influential to women's football than Salma was this year. By far and very well deserved! Deltamani: Ajakaye is definitely not up to Linda Caicedo level yet even though she’s very quick which is her major asset..

She won 2022 coach of the year for that. Are you saying she will win it on that account again, in a WWC year? All the nominations from Nigeria were largely on account of our WWC performance. In light of the above, I ask again, what has been her body of work in 2023 that is deserving of a 'coach of the year' award? daveP: you have a point but winning wafcon will make her take this. |

Again, what was Ellis’ body of work in 2023 that makes her more deserving of Coach of the yr? Nigeria had a way more challenging path in the WWC than any other African team and left due to penalties. We played 3 top 10 teams, 2 of whom made it into the semifinals (England and Australia). Randy definitely performed much better than Ellis. Not even close! daveP: That's true. Ellis and Nnadozie sure |

This shouldn’t even be a debate. Not a single one of the others played every single minute of the WWC and excelled. Demehin all the way! daveP: Demehin vs Comfort
But this should be Demehin's imo |

Coach of the year Desiree Ellis on account of what? WAFCON was last yr - she hardly did a damn thing this year. Okay, SA made it to the rd of 16. But they lost to all the top 10 teams they played. Randy played 3 top ten teams and didn’t lose a single game in regular time. That was way more difficult than SA’s path. lovewins: Coach of the year should be Desiree Ellis
GK of the year is undisputable Chiamaka Nnadozie
Young player of the year is Blessing Demehin, Ajakaye isn't even top 3.
Player of the year is between Oshoala/Kundananji/Kgatlana/Chawinga/Nnadozie |

Cut Nicole some slack. She’s still a kid playing with a club side consisting of some of the very best players in the world. She is tracking very well for her development. Took a bit for Imuran to debut but see how well she has progressed so far. Congrats to Nicole on her debut! Deltamani: League debut..!

That person cannot be a woman. That is a grown ass man! I don't know why Africans like to deceive themselves. Deltamani: Her goals single-handedly eliminated Cameroon U17 over a year ago during the U17 World Cup qualifiers and she trended because of her Physique then..

Well, it is. Next thing would be another Onyenezide acolyte will build off his comments and accuse the coach of not liking her and preferring his ‘favorites’ (to respectfully burrow a word recently used in a recent debate on this forum). Another left footed box to box CM on the radar and soon to be reconned with is Elisha Sulola, who made her debut for Valencia CF in Liga F this past week. Tall and skillful, a very good dribbler and passer of the ball as well as rugged in the tackle. She is 22. Naija's SF midfield is stacked with really good, young and upcoming players. Exciting! lovewins: It's what I said. Wasn't impressed at all with her in thr first game, but she put in a lot of work yesterday. I however don't see how she fits into the team with Ayinde and Christy present. She has a better chance making the team as a DM than she does as an offensive player.
BTW, JOE was just name ACC offensive player of the year.
I posted this before I noticed you have updated the thread about JOE. |

First of... 2. Oparanozie already announced her retirement from club and country football, so she is a non-factor. You really need to keep up with the news. 4,5. Neither Debbie Abiodun, Onyi Echegini not Rofiat Imuran (or even Ashleigh Plumptre) will be dropped from the Olympic squad. They are for future of Nigerian's women's football and will be the backbone of our next WAFCON and WWC campaigns. It would be incredibly dumb of any coach to drop any of those 3, save for injury or an incredible loss of form. Also, the Olympic Football event has never been on FIFA's calendar. This means Football clubs and all federations are NOT obligated to take a break or release players during the Olympics. There have been many bruhahas that have happened regarding this in the past - John Obi Mikel's bust up with Mourinho while both were at Chelsea comes to mind. AndSunGorilla: Yeah I agree and if it's 18 players, then we take 2 keepers. Using the last WC squad, I would drop these 5 players/positions 1. Yewande 2. Oparanozie 3. Esther Okoronkwo 4. The madam in Russia/Debbie/Onyi 5. The LB we took to the WC
I left Mama there because another defender has to take her place. Imuran is an utility player, can play defense and LW, would definitely leave her. Also Rinsola is also available, it would be very hard!!! Players who can play multiple positions should have the edge in my opinion. |

It’s not a FIFA call, it’s the IOC, who are solely responsible for running the Olympic Games. When you consider the number of days the Olympics games are held, it’s almost impossible to have more than 16 teams per ‘event’ - men or women’s football. That’s why they have qualifiers - if your good enough, you make it to the Olympics finals. PDPGuy: I hope FIFA increases the number of participating teams at the 2028 Olympics, as the Women’s World Cup has 32 teams |
