PoliticsN1.8bn Subsidy Scam: Efcc Re-arraigns Abdullahi Alao, Three Others. by akinemma1(op): 10:02pm On Dec 09, 2013
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, December 9, 2013 re-arraigned the quartet of Mahmud Tukur, Alex Ochonogor, Abdullahi Alao and Eternal Plc on a nine- count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence, forgery and uttering contrary to section 468 of the Criminal Code. They were re-arraigned before Justice Lawal Akapo of the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them by the EFCC.
In view of their pleas, prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs SAN, quickly called the attention of the court to the preliminary injunction filed by three of the accused persons -Mahmud Tukur, Ochonogor Alex and Eterna Plc- challenging the validity of the charges against them.
But before adjourning to February 24, 2014 for argument on the bail applications, Justice Akapo urged the counsel to liaise with the court registrar to identify the processes previously filed and the arguments canvassed by both parties to enable the judge acquaint himself with the case and prepare for the next hearing.
The accused persons, who allegedly obtained the sum of N1.8billion from the Federal Government through the Petroleum Support Fund, were first arraigned on July 26, 2012 and granted bail by Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo, who was the first trial judge. Justice Akapo took over the case owing to the transfer of Onigbanjo to another division of the court.

PoliticsI Was Arrested For Being A Boko Haram Leader – Asari Dokubo by akinemma1(op): 10:04pm On Nov 30, 2013
A former President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who was arrested last week in Republic of Benin, has accused those opposed to the second term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan of masterminding his arrest.
Asari, who apparently betrayed emotion on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Friday night, also said he was arrested and interrogated by Benin officials over an allegation from Nigeria that he is a leader of Boko Haram.
Speaking to journalists at the airport, he also described as lies the report that Jonathan sent a presidential jet to fly him into Nigeria from Benin.
His words: “Crisis is normal, it can also happen here in Nigeria, it can happen anywhere in the world. The people and government of Republic of Benin have no problem with me.
But if people alleged that somebody is a leader of Boko Haram, the government of that country will investigate the person.
”The allegation has much to do with 2015 because when you read comments on social media, you find out that people who are against President Goodluck Jonathan said they should vilify me, and make sure I die before 2015.
Asari Dokubo
But they are not going to succeed. I am not going to die. I will be present in 2015, and I will do what I am going to do to ensure that Jonathan wins in 2015. There is nothing they can do about it. This is their last fight and it is so unfortunate that the way they are going with show how immature they are.
“I just arrived from Cotonou. I drove in my car from Cotonou to Lagos airport where I boarded a flight to Abuja. The report is not true. No presidential jet was sent to me.
”I do business in Cotonou, and I have been living in Cotonou since 2008. Politically, people who are in Nigeria are trying to fabricate lies, which are not variable, and send it to Republic of Benin government. So I was taken for interrogation and they found that the allegations were false, and I was promptly released with over 20 of my staff who were also taken in.”
The former warlord, however, said his arrest was a blessing in disguise as he had an opportunity of meeting with officials of Benin after his interrogation. “I have met with the top and powerful people in Republic of Benin. Since I went to that country, I have never had any reason to meet with their government officials, but this crisis has made it possible for me to meet with all top government functionaries of the Republic of Benin. The crisis has raised my profile in that country.”
Asked whether President Jonathan intervened to secure his release, he said: “It is not just only President Jonathan that intervened, Nigerians generally intervened. The number of people that came into Cotonou the day I was taken in, and the following day, were over one thousand.”

lanrexlan: Do you understand what you are saying? No,you don't so it's jargons and still they are congratulating you on it.Se holy spirit never sabi english ni?
The dictionary meaning of jargons is this: The specialized or technical language of a trade, profession, or similar group. Not everybody understands jargons but some people still understand it. Every profession has its own jargons. We have medical jargons, etc So if you say she is speaking jargons, you are right because she is speaking heavenly jargons which cannot be understood by you but God understands it because it is inspired by the holy spirit.
Christianity EtcEduardo Dos Santos Bans Islam In Angola by akinemma1(op): 5:12pm On Nov 25, 2013
By popular demand, Angolan authorities have taken pre-emptive action and decided to ban the Muslim religion, which they consider a cult, NOT a religion. They see what Muslims are doing to non-Muslims, especially in Africa, and are taking steps to prevent the same from happening in Angola.
In early October 2013, the Muslims living in Luanda in the municipality of Viana Zango were shocked to see the minaret of their mosque dismantled into pieces on the ground without permission. On Thursday 03 October in the morning, the Angolan authorities decided to destroy the mosque Zango located in the urban district of Viana 17 km. The governor of Luanda Bento announced in a radio spot that radical Muslims are not welcome in Angola and the Angolan government is not ready for the legalization of mosques in Angola.
And on Tuesday, November 19, the Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva said. “Regarding Islam, the legalization process has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Therefore all mosques would be closed until further notice. “ It should be noted that the Angolan government has made closing of all mosques a priority. The only two mosques located in Luanda have already received a warning document signed by the mayor of the municipality of Viana José Moreno.
The provincial governor of Luanda, Bento Bento, said on the airwaves of local radio that “radical Muslims are not welcome in Angola and the Angolan government is not ready for the legalization of mosques.” Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva explained that the law on freedom of religion will be reviewed given the current national context , noting that the Government will redouble its efforts to fight relentlessly against religious cults like Islam which are contrary to the customs of Angolan culture.
95% of Angola’s population is Christian. A quarter belongs to Protestant churches founded during the colonial period, including congregational evangelical church.
This decisive action taken by the Angolan head of state is based on a desire to guard against the rise of the Wahhabi ideology that has created havoc, death and destruction in Africa and elsewhere. And as rightly explained Tunisian philosopher Mezri Haddad: “Islamism and Islamophobia feed each other. Worse, long-term Islamism as an ideology destroy Islam as religion. “
According to the International Religious Freedom Report 2008, Islam in Angola is a minority religion with 80,000 – 90,000 adherents, composed largely of migrants from West Africa and families of Lebanese origin. The Muslims comprise between 2.5 to 3 percent of Angola’s overall population of 17 million people, most of them Christians.
in the last decade, but especially during the last few years the Muslim community in Angola has grown appreciably and Islamic activities have become more common in major cities. Mosques have sprung up in a number of places and Qur’anic schools have been built to provide Islamic instructions and teach Arabic language to adherents.
Public attitudes toward Islam have been generally negative. Cultural differences between Angolan and Muslim immigrants have been the basis for negative views toward Islam, as was the perceived link between Islam and illegal immigration. Since the September 11 attacks, there has been a deliberate attempt to link Muslims with terrorism. It has become a matter of routine at Luanda airport for security officers to detain Muslims arriving from Sahelian countries.
On September 1, 2008, a Muslim mob attacked non-Muslims in the community of Andulo. The school-age daughter of a deacon at one of the churches was decapitated. Forty Christians were assaulted or tortured. The mob burned three church buildings. They also went to non-Muslim houses to intimidate them or destroyed items of property. Stones were thrown at the headquarters of a local Christian project, causing some damage. An Angolan Christian leader said that the local police were unable to stop the attack and fled the scene.

PoliticsChime’s Wife Briefed Me On Her Detention –falana by akinemma1(op): 6:59am On Nov 08, 2013
Lagos lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has said he was briefed by wife of Governor Sullivian Chime of Enugu State, Clara, requesting an intervention for her release from an illegal custody at the Government House, Enugu.
Chime had on Wednesday, in company with Clara, her doctor and other relatives, denied detaining his wife, saying she was only kept indoors due to her health challenges.
Clara, who also managed to speak while addressing journalists at the Government House, had also denied hiring the services of Falana to seek her freedom from the alleged house arrest.
She had also denied sending any petition to the National Human Rights Commission alleging unlawful detention by her husband.
But Falana, maintained in a statement on Thursday that Chime’s denial of detaining his wife was diversionary, alleging that the governor was only attempting to justify “the illegality” by claiming that his wife had a medical challenge.
Falana stated, “With respect to Mrs. Clara Chime, I wish to say, without any fear of contradiction, that I have her instructions in writing to challenge her illegal detention at the Government House, Enugu.
“Through the assistance of some of the security personnel in the Government House, she has since spoken to me on phone to confirm her instructions. Indeed, Mrs. Chime’s mother and her personal physician have also been in touch with me urging me to take all appropriate measures to secure her freedom from Governor Chime’s illegal confinement.
“From his nocturnal press conference, Governor Chime confirmed the allegation that he had held his wife in illegal custody. He attempted to justify the illegality by alleging that his wife has “a medical challenge”.
“When Governor Chime was recently medically challenged, he was not subjected to solitary confinement in the Government House but flown abroad for adequate medical treatment.
“But Mr. Chime has conspired with his private physicians to sentence his wife to unwarranted mental torture and psychological trauma in a room in the Government House for the past four months. If Mr. Chime’s claim is correct that the wife is non compos mentis, when was the Enugu Government House converted to a psychiatric hospital?”
The lawyer also demanded that the governor should “release his wife from illegal custody and be warned not to divert attention from the brutal abuse of the rights”. Source: http://www.punchng.com/news/chimes-wife-briefed-me-on-her-detention-falana-2/

FamilyMy Wife Has Health Challenges –chime by akinemma1(op): 7:55am On Nov 07, 2013
Enugu State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime, has broken his silence over allegations in online publications and some segments of the national dailies that he had incarcerated his wife, Clara, in a room in Government House.
He vowed to protect the integrity of his wife, who he said has some health challenges.
This is coming at a time when the Enugu First Lady has denied ever sending any petition to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) alleging unlawful detention by her husband. She also denied contacting or engaging the services of Mr. Femi Falana or any other lawyer to seek her freedom from an alleged incarceration at Government House Enugu, as the latter claimed in his letter to media houses and the Inspector-General of Police.
The governor and Mrs. Chime spoke to journalists, on Tuesday night, at the Government Lodge, Enugu in the presence of Mrs. Chime’s elder brother, Mr. Tony Igwe, the governor’s siblings, Mrs. May Oji and Dr. Jide Chime as well as Mrs. Chime’s neuro-psychiatric doctor, Dr. Aham Agumuo, among few others.
Governor Chime noted it was quite heart-aching for him to speak out publicly about his wife’s health challenges, but insisted that he would do everything, no matter the personal pains to protect her from ridicule.
“Well, my wife has some medical challenges and it would be very unkind for me to talk about her condition on the pages of newspapers,” the governor said, adding: “I’ve done everything to protect her integrity and I’m not now going to expose her to ridicule because some people want to exploit her situation to drag me into a needless war of words.
“We have been battling this (Clara’s health challenges) prior to my inauguration in 2011. It was so bad at a time that she had to be taken out of here (Governor’s Lodge) for treatment. When she stabilised, I pleaded with her doctors if she could be brought back here to be receiving her treatment at home and they graciously accepted.
“There was a time she was confined indoors and that was strictly on her doctors’ advice. She’s here and she can confirm or deny it. Also, the doctors then advised against allowing her access to telephones and laptop.”
At this point, the governor paused, heaved a deep sigh and continued his emotional narration: “I cannot say or do anything to undermine her dignity. She is, first and foremost, my wife. The big blunder I committed was allowing her access to the telephone and her laptop, against the advice of her doctor. I’m paying dearly for that today, going by what is happening now.
“Her brother is here; her doctor is here with us too. You people (journalists) can confirm anything you want from them, either here or at your convenience. Would I have been a better husband if I asked her to leave the lodge because of her medical challenge? Would it not have been more convenient for me if I allowed her to stay and be treated in the hospital?
“But like I said earlier, I wanted the best for her and that’s why I pleaded with the doctors to have her treated at home. That’s also why I allowed her access to her telephone and laptop, which unfortunately led to the stage where I’m now being falsely accused of imprisoning or detaining my own wife.”
For quite a long time, Mrs. Chime could not speak, despite persuasions from her husband and brother. At a point, her brother, Tony Igwe, took her to an adjacent room, where they spent a few minutes before returning to join others.
Igwe now assured the rest people that she was willing to talk, but it was another round of silence.
At last, the First Lady said: “You (referring to the governor) and my doctor can speak on my behalf.”
The governor politely replied: “Yes, I’m your husband and should ordinarily do so, but you know I’m the one being accused of detaining you. This way, I’ve lost that privilege to speak for you, at least on this case. The story out there also is that your doctor is probably scared of me and gives you all kinds of drugs, sometimes against your wish.”
Clara said: “My doctor and I don’t have any problem.” On the petition to the National Human Rights Commission, Mrs. Chime corroborated an earlier text message she had sent to her husband that she had not met Falana or engaged him to seek her release from a purported unlawful custody. Rather, she admitted that she wrote a letter to her doctor, Dr. Agumuo and another doctor overseas whom she was introduced to and wondered how the letter leaked to the public
Mrs. Chime also admitted that she was once confined to a room without access to her telephone and laptop. “That was when I had a serious crisis,” she said.
She also confirmed that she had the key to her room and controlled her entry and exit, contrary to the claim in the petition that she had been locked up for asking to be allowed to leave. Her grouse was that she had not been allowed to leave the premises, though she attended mass even last Sunday. Source: www.sunnewsonline.com

SportsI Will Stop Eaglets From Scoring – Mexico’s Goalie by akinemma1(op): 7:25am On Nov 07, 2013
Having conceded six goals against the Golden Eaglets in their opening match at the FIFA U-17 World Cup on October 19, Mexico’s goalkeeper Raul Gudino has vowed to shut out the Eaglets from scoring in tomorrow’s final match at Abu Dhabi.
Gudino was a pitiable sight to behold in Al Ain on October 19 as a Kelechi Iheanacho-inspired Eaglets dismantled the Mexicans, who are the defending champions of the competition, and were tagged favourites to win the Group F game.
But Mexico have bounced back from that shocking experience and are now 90 minutes away from winning the title, a mission that Gudino feels is achievable if they play with zeal and purpose.
“We can win the final match if we play with purpose and not run after the Nigerians. We are a good side and have shown that we can overcome our setbacks”, Gudino told reporters after the team defeated Argentina 3-0 in the semifinal.
Having scored 23 goals so far, the Eaglets parade the most lethal attacking side and for Mexico to get anything out of this game, they must avoid conceding, a task that Gudino said he was equal to.
“I have learnt from my mistakes and will work hard to stop them from scoring”, said Gudino, who saved a third-minute penalty against Argentina, with the score still 0-0.
Reflecting on the semi-final game, Gudino said: “I did my job that’s all. I think we were not really concentrating at the start but I think my penalty save gave my colleagues confidence.
”In the end it was a very good win because the entire team worked hard all through the game.” Source: www.platinumnews.blog.com

Christianity EtcRe: The Distorted Message Of Grace That We Preach by akinemma1: 11:03pm On Oct 01, 2013
Tgirl4real: I would like to share this verses of scriptures with us today. I am not after whether it was written to Jews or gentiles or which ever dispensation as some would say. lol. It is the word of God and if you are a child of God it applies to you.

Revelations 3: 4-22

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy unclothedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

I got angry reading an old thread I contributed to this morning. The thread is about grace Vs obeying God's law. What is it with the gospel of grace that is unable to save anyone that we preach all around today? Why do we take one part and leave the other part that involves we living up to what we profess?

You claim God has saved...how do we know God has saved you if we don't see fruits of righteousness at work in you?

Reading scriptures this morning, I see a lot of contradictions between scriptures and what we preach out there. Many are expecting a Jesus that will rub their heads and give them bear hugs when he appears.

Hey! wake up! Judgement is at hand!

Don't let anyone deceive you. Search your heart and be true to what you believe.

James 4:17
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

Christianity EtcBorn Again Christians Cannot Sin by akinemma1(op):
(Note: This is not my opinion or views.A friend of mine posted it on facebook, and i decided to share it here on nairaland). Now we can clear all grounds on whether the New Creation sins or not ie on the mind of God, does the New Creation man in Christ have sin at all.
We have found it!
We need to first agree that the law has been done away with because it is the shadow of things (grace ) to come and not the image (Heb10:1). We also realize that are not under law but under grace (Rom3:19-21).
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT REVOLUTION IN THE DOCTRINE OF HOLINESS!!!
Glory to God, Hallelujah!!!.
Romans 5:13 NIV...... To be sue, sin was in the world before the law was given, BUT SIN IS NOT CHARGED AGAINST ANYONE'S ACCOUNT WHEN THERE IS NO LAW.
Remember that where there is no law, there is no sin (really, we are not under the law again).
Grace has toppled the law, there is no sin. In Numbers 23, even though the Israelites continually sinned against God(and were even punished ), Balaam said God has not observed iniquity in them. This confirm Psalm 32:1-2.
Imagine Nigeria having a code of conduct for snowboarding! There is no snow in Nigeria, so they can't have a rule concerning that. Therefore, nobody can be arrested in Nigeria for snowboarding. In the same vein, 1 John3:9 explains that the New Creation man doesn't sin (it is not a possibility once he knows who he is), the seed of God remains in Him.
I once told my friends that the only law in the New Creation is THE LAW OF FAITH (Rom3:27). So THE ONE AND ONLY SIN IS UNBELIEF. It can land you in hell. If you don't believe grace. Rom14:23 says anything not of faith is sin. Hebrews 3:19 says the people who missed His rest missed it because of unbelief.
This one is strong! When I gave my life to Jesus, I stepped out of law into grace. Till date, no sin has been laid to my account! Author: philip Abolanle
