Another option is to use a co-signer, that is getting someone who already lives and works there with a good credit history to sign the application and lease agreement with you. You can also search for short term leases like 6 monthly and assure the landlord that you would pay the 6 months rent upfront or the one year lease if you can afford to pay for 1 year. In your search, lookout for properties listed by the landlords themselves as they are more likely open to such discussions and negotiations that property managers. MissMoroti: can someone pls help with this? what other alternatives can i get? since i don't have references or credit reports yet |

Hi Vcole, Thanks for your reply to this. I have completed postgraduate training and verified my credentials. I plan to come to Canada to pursue the independent practice as a Family Physician. What exactly do I need to do. Can you please advice me. vcole: No idea. To the best of my knowledge at the moment what Alberta has, is a PPAP quite different from the other PRAs. It is for IMGs who have completed a residency program within or outside Canada of a minimum of 2yrs duration and with specific postings and who have not been out of a post graduate training over the preceeding 3yrs. I would say evaluate your degree, transcript, all postings in that order. |

Meehn I'm liking you more. You are always on point with your replies. I'd take my chances too if I were her. Hustle it out and get what I want. I know some doctors prefer to go to UK, work and save up before coming to Canada (you need money for all those exams afterall) but she can be making her plans for UK while following up with express entry. When she gets the PR, she can do a soft landing, tidy up in UK and then come over finally. Except if she plans to do a training program there to which I would say go for it, get the Royal College and come over to Canada. She would not have to go through the rigours of residency matching in Canada. She can do that alongside express entry/PR application. When she gets it, she can then be visiting Canada to fulfill the required number of days in a year to retain one's PR status at least until she finishes with her program. maternal: I don't know if that advice was wrong. I've never been in her situation nor am I a professional. But my father always taught me not to use short cuts in life, as it will always comeback to haunt you. I've also learned that nothing is guaranteed in life. How long is a while in the UK ? How much "easier" would it be practicing in Canada ? How do you even know when she's ready to come to Canada they'll be an immigration avenue for her available ? If she can migrate through EE, I'd come here, then start the process on becoming a doctor here. In the meantime my stay in Canada would count towards my inevitable citizenship. I'd also know that the program I'm doing will go towards me being a doctor in Canada eventually. I don't like what if's, or 50/50. I need to know if I do X, I'll be guaranteed to get X. If that was my sister, I'd tell her to bite the bullet, come to Canada, and do what you need to do to achieve her goals. |

@Maternal I won't mind if you could hook me up with your friend to learn more about the area if you don't mind. I could PM you if that is ok or you can mail me at melankev@yahoo.com maternal: You can find decent places anywhere. As long as you mind yourself, nobody will disturb you. Or maybe he just wants you guys to be around newer developments ? Any way I know someone who rented a 3 bedroom in the NW, close to west Edmonton mall (google it) with lots of amentias. She pays 1200-1300 per month with everything included except hydro (neppa). She says it's a great place if you have kids. It's a renters market, and she got 2 month free rent, and free cable and internet for free for 1 year. You'd have to negotiate since you don't want a 1 year lease and have no credit history. Perhaps I can get the renting companies info for you ? Also what's your line of work, just curious. |

Well we are just curious and anxious JJC's who made enquiry on the place we intend to move to and were given information, perhaps based on the knowledge of the adviser. That is exactly why I came here. Who wants to throw away money that he doesn't have much of. Please I am also open to your own suggestions too if there are any so that I can explore all options. salford1: ^^^nice one.
It is always nice to have an open mind when relocating. New immigrants are told to avoid some areas, yet these areas are much better than the VI's of Lagos and Asokoros of Abuja, Nigeria.
In my opinion, it's a good idea for new migrants to save as much as possible by having an open mind about areas they choose to live aslong as it is close to shopping centres and maybe kid's schools. However, anyone that decides to lands in choice areas should also be willing to pay premium, and I trust my Nigerian folks are capable |

Why Edmonton? Oga's decision and we have some contacts there. Why those sections of Edmonton? As recommended by someone here and friends. We were told to avoid the Northeast and Northwest. What's your monthly budget for rent? I want a townhouse no more than 1400 CAD How much can you put down for rent when you first land? I have enough to take care of my rent for the first 6 months. I actually want a 6 month lease since work may take us some place else. maternal: Provide more info. Why Edmonton? Why those sections of Edmonton? What's your monthly budget for rent ? Yes there are Chronic carriers and all but the moment one has the surface antigen to Hepatitis B Virus, one would need further testing and specialists review. That's the only way one can prove that the virus is not actively replicating and that the individual would neither pose a public health threat for Canadian nor deplete their resources through frequent visits and medications. However, I am aware that they still give PR to people who have Hepatitis B virus infection and even on medication so long as it can be proven that you the individual is under control. coconuthead: Excellent. Thanks for the information. the principal applicant here has always been + but never been ill and never taken any drugs related to HBV. Doing some research to ascertain the different types of HBV. I understand there are active and inactive carriers. |
Travel › Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Akingsqueen: 10:31pm On Jul 27, 2018 |
I don't have hepatitis B but from the medical point of view, if they requested further tests, then they likely want you to have a liver function test, abdominal ultrasound scan focused on the liver and hepatitis B Virus DNA viral load. You might also need a Gastroenterologists review. These are all in a bid to decide if you are admissible into Canada. They need to know if the hep B is the type that will deplete their resources. coconuthead: Sorry to post this hear but i reason landed seniors will have more experience in this area.
Hi guys, so i created my EE profile on July 10, Got ITA on July 11, AOR july 25. Today ADR to go do further test on hepatitis?
Any info how to approach this? Is this normal? Anyone with hepatitis B passed through this before? |

Yes you have to pay for the one with American passport but I don't think you need to pay for the ones with Canadian passports. Those ones are already Canadians and I don't think they need to be included in the application even. They don't need the PR and the payment is for PR application. I stand to be corrected though. Yes also, you have to scan all their passports and all the pages with stamps on them. The only difference between theirs and yours is that they won't be be needing the temporary visa for landing ozzy2: Please seniors in the house, i am confused regarding the passport data page and pages with stamps to submit for my kids.
Two of them have Canadian passport and one America passport. They equally have Nigeria passport.
Both passport have stamps on them.
Do i have to scan both or just stick with one?
If it is the later, which do i stick with?
Also regarding visa fees, do i have to pay for the two canadian citizen.
Thank you. |

Is my first time flying, pardon my questions. The website says free baggage allowed is 2 units, then restriction is 23kg...am confused if is 23kg per unit or the two units together must not weigh more than 23kg. |

Hello, PM sent. I need the contact please. 40manlappy: Anyone that needs the DL authentication letter urgently from FRSC can send me a PM so that I can share a contact that I got recently. I don't think it would be appropriate to post his phone number and email address here.
Based on available information, you may just be required to arrange for courier service if you don't have someone to pick it up for you in Abuja.
IMO, that is still cheaper than paying $50 to obtain it in Ottawa, especially if you are still in Nigeria. |

Hi, If you are looking for the best treat for your kids, Emirates airline is your best bet as per priority, entertainment for kids and even toys/activities to keep them busy till you land. Plus you get strollers at Dubai airport for free meaning you can check in yours at Lagos to pick up at destination. Only downside is that you will be in for a long haul. Can't speak for the others since I have never flown them with my kids (3 under 5 year old kids) Nwandy218: Landed seniors with kids, please I need feedback on either Lufthansa or British airways.
